I have an 8 gig. I don't appreciate all this exclusiveness with you 4 gig owners. You think you're better than us just because you're 100 bucks richer?

And why would you need to listen to music so often. Give your ears and head a break. Listen to nothing. Listen to the breeze or have a conversation with somebody for crying out loud. How many movies must you watch? Stop playing with your toys and enjoy the world around you.

You obviously don't work in the city or use public transportation. On the trip to/from, between listening to rude people, crying babies or creeps bugging you for money, I'll take the iPod or whatever form of entertainment I have on me (book, videogame, magazine, etc). :)

People! The only difference is the ≈4GB more of storage! THEY ALL DO THE SAME THINGS! BY BUYING ONE YOU GOT YOUR STATUS SYMBOL! SOME PEOPLE EITHER DIDN'T NEED THE ADDED STORAGE OR COULDN'T AFFORD IT!!! Now please, stop fighting over who is better! Anyone who owns an iPhone is and equal, and those who don't, well...that's not my fight.
FOR THE RECORD: I have and 8GB, but think a 4 is just as cool!

My decision on going 4 gig was based on the following:

My current Nano is 2 gigs, and I never filled it up. I don't have a need to carry a quadzillon songs with me, nor Season 1 and 2 of Desperate Housewives. With 4 gig, I doubled the space I had before.

I shaved 100 bucks off.

Certainly don't think I'm better, smarter, than any other posters - don't even know why that's a part of the conversation.

4gig!!!

I work in the studio listining to music all day and DJ several nights a week>>> I personally cant stand to walk around with anything blocking my sence of hearing! (UnSafe!) A lady got hit by a train jogging with her Ipod last week> I dont use it as an Ipod!!!

I bought the 4gig because to me, I dont need to fill my Iphone up with any more than the most current mixtape or two and a few of my Videos (with my music) to show to potential clients>>> Mby a movie> But I allways have a powerbook, or a Macbook w/ me. so for me a Iphone "Sync" can easly swap data>>>

One other thing, As a convert from the 02 Exec (PPC), I can tell you, I would never fill my Phone to the point of making it unstable!

Also there are servers that allow 5gigs or more online storage for Iphone!!!

Its the 4gig for me and its relativly empty

4gig here too. I got it on the first day. I had already decided I'd go with whichever I could get. I also had figured if I got the 4 because it's what was left, I could always trade up to an 8 if I just felt I "had" to. I'm a big gadget person too with several other pda phone devices, all loaded with programs, pictures, music etc and I've never yet run out of space, including a 4 gig iPod nowhere near full. So as the 2 week return period closed in, in my case, it was an easy choice to stay with the 4gig.

Had a 4GB, traded it in for an 8gb

So, I had a 4gb and space was an issue...so I took it back to the apple store and got and 8gb. And no, i didnt pay a restocking fee. My 4gig had battery issues, so they gave me a new phone no problem. I just paid the difference.

I was prepared to get whatever iPhone the AT&T store had in stock, and they had an 8GB iPhone in stock so I got that one. I have already run out of space on it, but I knew that would happen. A 4GB iPhone would've barely been able to hold all my music. Although I don't bash the 4GB iPhone, if people can get by with 4GB of space, then they shouldn't have to pay the $100 difference to get more space that they don't need.

You guys are too much, I made a joke and you get upset and say that I'm compensating for something. You guys are too cute. :)

I got my 4gb refurb for $399 as it was closer to my phone budget, and I already had an 8 gig nano, so I don't plan on using this phone so much as a music device. I would rather have it on standby and save battery, and use the incredible 24hr battery the nano has.
I have many gb of music, but like to keep it fresh with new releases, so I am changing out my music all the time with new albums anyhow.
I just consider myself to have a 12gb nano now!

I'm waiting for my 4GB iPhone to show up.

I could have gotten the 8GB iPhone.

Why didn't I?

I already have an 80GB iPod. It wouldn't matter if I had a 4GB or 8GB iPhone, I would have to rearrange my music on the device almost daily. So it's best for me to just stick a couple hundred songs on it that I really enjoy and use my 80GB iPod for everything else. I'll especially be using my 80GB iPod for those times I want to use high quality headphones. I also rip my music at 256kbps VBR AAC, so even an 8GB device doesn't have enough storage space.

But even if I didn't have an 80GB iPod, I would have still went for the 4GB unit. $100 is still $100. That could mean $100 worth of content from the iTunes store, or a case and a car charger. Theres a lot you can do with $100. You can also use iTunes smart playlisting capabilities to always autofill your iPhone and hear different music every day. 4GB is enough for the average music fan, while 8GB isn't even close to being enough for a true music lover.

I ended up getting the 8GB model, eventhough in a previous post I said I wasnt going to. Why? Because the iPod interface is so nice on it, it really makes me never want to go back to my 60GB video iPod. So what Ive done is set up a smart playlist in iTunes to pool up 6GBs of my most played music. Now I have 6GB of music, all my phone stuff (contacts and such), and about 800 megs free for photos and such.

Needless to say I am very happy with it.

When the iPhone comes to Denmark, I will buy a 8 GB because you get get more Gigs for your money...

You pay $ 124,75 per GB for a 4 GB iPhone.
You pay $ 74,875 per GB for a 8 GB iPhone.

Furthermore, I don't have a iPod, so it will serve me as my only music/video player.

But I can easily understand you 4GB owners..
It is ridiculous to buy a 8GB iPhone if you only need 4GB or less.

 I really hope those are european decimal points and not thousands of dollars per gig!

Why cant someone make a tail whip that would plug into the iphone and give us access to memory chips. You know like they have for computers. I realize those are usb but do you think it could work with the iphone?
