Is there anyway to get a text message on your iPad from your note 8? that syncs seamlessly?

No

Okay guess I will try the iPhone X then hope it's worth it.

I have the Mysms app on both my Note 8 and my iPad. I use the samsung messaging app on my phone though. Mysms is just running in the background. All my texts instantly go to the Mysms app on the iPad (and iMac)

S8+ is a high consideration but the s pen I think brings more features which is cool and may not be necessary but can be useful!

After have 4 notes, it's useless. Just a gimmicky feature that separates the S line from the Note line. Plus the S8+ has better battery.

I’ve been fighting this for about a week. I almost bought the Note 8 a few times, until I chicken out. lol

The X doesn’t excite me and I’m not locked into the ecosystem. I’m just comfortable with iOS and that is the ONLY thing making it difficult.

You don't care for the Note. I get that. But it doesn't mean the Note doesn't have value to others. The Note has additional abilities in the S-Pen, Camera, RAM, and software. It also has a different form factor, which I happen to prefer. For me, the Note 8 > S8+. I am not interested in the X because its unproven, so wouldn't be able to assess.

There's nothing gimmicky about the S Pen. Business users swear by it to the point where they won't get a phone that doesn't have a stylus. If you decide to pay more for a feature that you either don't know how to make use of or don't need, that's on you for making a bad decision. Doesn't mean it's gimmicky.

Right... the reason I replaced my Mac with a Surface Pro was to be able to use a pen. Adding the S-Pen on my Note, I can now create and edit OneNote pen-based documents back and forth between my phone and tablet PC. That is just one aspect... there are a lot of other S-Pen benefits. Some are a little gimmicky, but who cares.... not going to turn down additional uses.

This was a time where every phone no matter what was 199.99 on 2 year contract so to say I paid more for a feature I didn't need is foolish. To say I paid the same price for a phone that was ahead of it's time is more accurate. Note 1,2,3,4... Go back and use them and tell me just how useful the pen is. It took more time to do anything with the inaccurate and slow pen than it did to just use your fingers. If you never used a 1,2,3, or 4 then you can't say how gimmicky the pen felt. Especially in 1,2,3.

I think sometimes people buy things they will never properly use, then call it gimmicky. A phone this big, with a pen, isn’t for the average mobile user.

Tbh most mobile users would be perfectly fine using a device that is 3+ years old, but that isn’t fun. lol

I am considering trying the iPhone X in a store, but I still find the notion of having less specs, features, and a less aesthetically pleasing device for a substantially higher price tag to be absurd. Samsung Pay, Samsung Pass, ad-blocking, iris scanning, notification LED, quick charge, always on display, a proper file storage system are many of the things I use on a regular basis.

I just cannot see myself buying a hyped device that is more of a fashion statement than a utility. iOS 11 really put a nail in the coffin because there aren't enough multi-tasking features to warrant an iPhone X purchase.

I've used all those except for the Note 1. The fact that you said the pen was slower than using your fingers shows that you are a person that shouldn't use a Note to begin with. That's a load of bollocks.

Try writing on your locked screen with your finger.... And saving it as a note.

I can see how some might see the s-pen as a gimmick, fair enough, but it's truly awesome when you need to jot something down, imo.
I wish they had write on lock screen on my Note 3, 4 and 5.
I can't remember if it was on the Note 7 as I didn't have it long enough.
I'll probably end up getting the Note 9 too..None of the other phones this year, tick all the boxes.

Gimmicks are only gimmicks if you don't use them.

For me, the Note 8 ticks every box off except the battery life. It's inconsistent, but it is still decent battery life. I haven't enjoyed a phone this much in a long time. I need to use my S-Pen and multi-window more, but definitely tremendous value thanks to the T-Mobile BOGO special. Amazing camera, best in class OLED screen, significant screen real-estate, a bevy of features, the latest and greatest available, etc. Samsung Pay continues to stun people too haha.

Notes on lock screen are on the 5, used it today.
Going to give the X a go if I can get one tonight. Keep it, return it, or sell it in a couple months, regardless I won’t be losing any money on it.

Note 8 is bigger than I’d like after vowing for the next phone to be smaller, so the IPhone X (and Essential) are an ideal size, but I tested a Note 8 out for two weeks and I can manage it a bit better than I thought (also helps it’s fall and winter coming so it can go in a coat when out and about).

That's interesting, I was using my Note 5 just a few weeks back and swear it didn't work.
Just booted it and yep, you're right, it does work!

That's great really, if only I'd known....it worked the whole time I had the Note 5 sigh..
I see the Note 4 got it eventually too :)

I get more battery life than my S7 edge, which I was already happy with but yeah, more is better, I'm up for more :)

Exynos would make the Note 8 even better for me. Snapdragon isn't optimized enough since Qualcomm doesn't do the best job.

The Note 8 offers so many features, that I’m sure I won’t use every feature it offers. However the iPhones don’t have some of the capabilities of the 8. I also figure why got an s8+, when I can go all out with the Note8.
The multi tasking features are huge, Note taking capabilities are huge, the camera is amazing, and the side view menu seems useful for quick info.
I’m going to give it a go.

I'm on a Exynos Note8 and it is a dream to use. My last Note, the Note 4 was great but was Snapdragon and when I tried it next to a Note 4 Exynos I was surprised at how much faster and smoother the Exynos variant was.

Glad I finally got an Exynos Note :)

Good choice. I love my Note 8 and came from a 6s+.
