View attachment 2424610Has anyone experienced sharp edges on their Torras this year? Previously the edges were rounded softly blending into the frame but I’ve just applied mine now (clear tray) and I have a sharp edge

Just returned mine for the 16 Pro Max for this reason. The sharp edge also collects dust like crazy and for my OCD self. That ain’t gonna work.

I feel like the same version for my 15 Pro Max sealed a lot better on the edges, less sharp as well.

It’s not just a feeling, it was much better!

just got my iPhone 16 pro and ordered the Torras based on rave reviews of previous models. it's too soon to judge how well it works (I'm screen is locked to the "transferring from old iPhone" (4 hours remaining, so I can't check if there are any coverage issues) but I honestly was unimpressed by the installation method. I had reviewed a video the other day, yet removing the tray was trickier than I expected after the pull and the screen didn't adhere well on the first "try" but I eventually pushed it down again and removed the tray and the "top adhesive" in one swoop (I think that's what the instructions imply, but the video I watched showed the person removing the frame, removing bubbles, and then finally pulling off the top film.

for me the top film came off with the frame because I was fighting getting the frame off. in the end I had some large bubbles that I worked hard to get rid of...this was much worse than my experience with other phones of the X generation where there was a simple frame to guide the installation.

but I'm glad the bubbles are gone after working my thumb pads raw, and the alignment looks decent without being able to test with the photo app.

that being said, I do think the edges are sharper than any of the screen protectors I've bought from multiple brands for my XS, 11 Pro, 13 Pro, and my wife's 11 and 13 phones. with a case, it will be of less significance.

UPDATE: Torras sent me a replacement set today and the protectors sadly have the same sharp edges..
Has anyone received a perfect screen protector from Torras for the 16 Pro Max like they used to be last year for the 15 Pro Max?

I compared mine to my 16 pr max and yeah it's a bit more raised but not horribly so. I do remember seeing something on the Torras sign about a cushioning layer as a feature and maybe thats is what is raising it up so much?

Honestly, it will take some time for revisions to cases and protectors to get worked out.

Aw man, that sucks. I have a set I waited for to replace the temporary ESR, ended up keeping the ESR on as it's 99% perfect. Very slight rainbow top edge, seems they got the tray a smidge wrong as there are a few comments here the same. Just opened the Torras to check out this sharp edge and man...it's poor. Maybe won't feel it with a case on but it sure will trap dust.

Seems the in store Belkin is the best fitting one at the moment, shame I don't live near an Apple Store to get one.

There's also a kind of "light gap" between protector and display because it is raised so much. You can see it when you tilt the phone to the side... anyway - with a case on it's OK, not nice but OK... Torras sent me a full refund. I will wait a month or two and give it another try. Or I will have forgotten about it by then.. haha

Definitely looks like the adhesive layer is thicker. I am keeping mine on because the install is perfect. When someone comes out with one that fits better, I may switch. I'd really like to try Flolabs for the anti reflective and polarized glasses friendly features, but they seem to have their own fit issues right now.

Just installed the TORRAS SP on my 16PM.

Looking at the L’s on the camera, it wasn’t too bad. Depending on what angle you were looking at, a tiny bit of the L’s might be obscured. Nothing I couldn’t live with.

But then I opened the Camera Control, and it was a lot more noticeable. See the attached pic.

You can actually buy it from Apple's website for delivery, it comes with an installation tray and everything.

I had the Torras screen protector but didn't like the black borders, they made the bezels look a bit thicker. I stopped by the Apple Store today for the Belkin case and it was installed perfectly, no rainbow effect and looks so nice

how’s the coverage of the iphones display? especially if someone is using their phone caseless?

does it cover past the display and into the bezels?

The coverage is good, covers the entire screen and overlaps the black bezels but still has room for a case (using Apple silicone)

See the photos attached

Yes it does collect some dust but not a lot to be of any issue or bother me, most screen protectors I’ve used collect some dust but can be wiped away

I was comparing my Torras (16 pro) to inexpensive one I bought for my 13pro (amfilm) and I'm struck by how much thicker the Torras is, and also the sharp edges. while thicker means presumably better impact resistance, but the sharp edges are a downgrade. I don't notice them if I use a case, but ended up giving myself a micro cut with the protector when I was pushing bubbles out with my thumb (works better than the plastic tool provided)

Currently using Torras screen protector on 16PM without a case, definitely doesn't like the raised/rouge edges. I do recall my 15PM protector was like that as well, but since I was using a case, it doesn't really matter. I'm keeping it on for now until a new community favorite is chosen.

thanks for confirmation for yours too. they have offered to send me another set, but I asked the follow-up if that set would have a smoother/rounded edge and am awaiting response. (I also had a problem with the installation tray that I remedied through a lot of effort on my part)

Let us know what they say about an updated version

When I asked them they said, "I want to assure you that the glass has a rounded edge (0.3mm R angle), consistent with our previous models like the iPhone 15 and 14, which have been well-received in the market. However, the changes in phone size and the narrower printing on the glass this year may create the perception of sharper edges."

🤷🏻

that makes no sense. we are not talking about visual perception but about feel of the glass along the edge. I still haven't gotten a response to my follow-up, but I will let you guys know. if I don't hear soon, I'm likely going to order a cheaper protector, uninstall this one, and then return the Torras to Amazon within the 30 day window.

my best case scenarios were they would either send me a new set with smoother edges or promise me a new set down the road. I would keep the one I have installed on since I'm currently using a case and it doesn't affect things in this scenario except for extra dust collection.

With the new clear tray, when you took your off, did you still have the clear film to peel off like the older orange versions did? My tray was tough to get off and it seems to pull that plastic film off with it. It left marks on the titanium that I thought were scratches but seemed of buff off but not easily.

The first one I got aligned perfectly but I found a small scratch on it. So I went to use the other one but I must not have put it in the tray correctly because it was way off. So I had to order another set.

Anyone else have issues with that clear film or the tray being hard to remove.... are you supposed to pull it from the top?
slowly working my way back through this thread:

I have the clear tray it was very difficult to remove the tray after installing and ultimately, the clear film came off with the tray after I peeled it (the tray off). so once it was off, there was no film to remove. this seems consistent (from how I read the instruction sheet) but inconsistent with the video I found online with someone installing one.

I'm still in the process of conversing with Torras. they are offering to send me another set to address the sharpness and bubble issue I had, yet I have very little confidence a new set will be any better. yet, reading all the other threads out there, it seems that maybe this is about as good as I gets for now. I'm currently using a case, so the sharp edges aren't a daily issue but if I go casless at any point, it will be. I turned in my iPhone 13 Pro to the Apple Store today (painless although not as much cash as I would get on CL) and I was really struck by how smooth the transition is/was from protector (amfilm) to the phone body.

the only thing I can say for the Torras is that is probably twice as thick as the amfilm on my old phone so should be more durable. (that being said, I never had to replace the protector on my 13 pro during 3 years of ownership)

Installed the clear tray Torras tonight on my new iPhone 16 Pro Max and very disappointed. It does not even compare to the upgraded Diashield Torras for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I no longer use a case, since Apple stop making their Apple leather classes and nothing leather comes close to their simplistic design/fit.

The Torras for the 15 Pro Max was perfect and super smooth on the edges. Also - it was a perfect fit wasting no screen space. The new Torras for the 16 Pro Max is really rough/sharp on the edges and it also blocks some of the edges of the screen, like the L’s in the camera on the right top and bottom side. Not sure how they can go backwards.

Not sure what screen protector to use now. Maybe will try the Apple installed Belkin ones, as I used to use those. Too bad as upgraded Torras was awesome last year and even their 1st gen was a way better than this.

I would stay away from this one, until they fix these issues. Really inexcusable.

Do you know what’s the difference between the Torras iPhone 16 Pro Max Protectors? There is an orange and clear tray version - but what’s the main difference - does both fit the same space on the screen?
Does the „old“ orange tray was better than the new clear one when removing it?

I used the Torras iPhones 15 Pro Max, and loved them. Perfect fit and great feel so far.

I asked Torras upfront on the support if there will be maybe a version without black border. Let you guys know what they say

Black border is superior, just need them to fine tune it to be perfect instead of the close to perfect that it is now.
