Think beyond the defaults and you'll discover new, more efficient ways to do things. Or be basic. Whatever you're comfortable with.
You aren’t saving any time by reaching further up the keyboard. But if thinking you do makes you feel good inside. Go for it.

Look it up. It’s widely known that they are rarely used. Look at any well worn keyboard. The function keys are always brand new.
they aren't used as much as the alpha numeric keys but to claim they are unused is just total crap. They're probably used more on the Mac than the arrow keys or the power button.

Yeah no

If you want to convince anyone of a ridiculous claim you can provide the evidence

Otherwise we can assume you are talking out of your ***

One guy, not using a Mac... about as statistically relevant to the discussion as my wearing black underpants today.
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. F7 for example in illustrator does the same thing in Mac and PC.

Find more data. It’s all going to average out that way.

Why should I believe “it’s all going to average out” the way you say it will

If you are so convinced of your claim it shouldn’t be so hard to prove, and yet here we are…

I thought that it would have been quite useful as a separate accessory that you could keep near the keyboard. ASUS has certainly made such devices helpful, but they're also integrated into the computer's structure.

After seeing the video editing segment of their touch bar video, I wanted one just for that. However, putting it on the low-powered 13 inch MacBook Pro didn't make sense. It was a premium feature, not something to force everyone to use.

Whether my math is better or worse than yours, apple have the data and they put the function keys back
That they did. They also put the charge port on the bottom of the mouse, power button on the bottom of the Mac mini..

I mostly used it for the emoji picker. So I used the gimmicky touch bar for gimmicky emojis 😅.

Honestly never missed it on my 14" MacBook Pro.

Bring it back, but also make the entire keyboard area a touchbar, that way when we aren’t typing we can have a second screen.

i didnt use the nav bar liked the idea but wasnt really useful to me. i miss iphone 3d touch a lot though

I thought it much superior to the keys ... but function keys are already there. No need to push the fn key before selection. But a loved it. And they often changed which was actually interesting. And the colours too! They were awesome. Stuff the M$ etc who would not take adantage of it ... and Apple for not making it universal across all Macs and keyboards.

Facts are though that it's removal was a cost accounting solution. The touch bar cost more. So get rid of it and add some ports and a magsafe.

I agree with you, but you missed part of what I said. It doesn’t matter how useful or how well you liked it. Most people that I know who owned an iPhone, never used 3D touch. They didn’t know it existed. I used it all the time and was not happy when it was discontinued. I really don’t understand why people didn’t use this feature and unfortunately, I don’t think it will ever return. I think it’s more dead than the touch bar.

I totally agree with you because I was not happy when it was removed. It was one of my favorite features.

Maybe Apple failed to communicate to their customers on how to use it. They needed some sort of popup to let people know what to do.
I can still feel it pop

I supplied data. Supply counter data or shoo fly.

You showed that ONE person doesn’t use them much

You claimed that 99% of people don’t use them 99.99999% of the time

You have a long way to go to make that case yet!

I think Apple dos a bad job overall explaining features in their products. How often have you discovered some useful feature from a tip until showed it by someone. Even simple things like pinning web pages in Safari in iOS/iPadOS are often revelations.
