It's odd this is happening for you whilst it's on charge. I don't have issues unlocking while on charge, only when it's on battery only mode.

I'll test this again today in case anything has changed. over the last few days.
It happens both on battery and on charge for me..

I noticed it's a matter of time. If you let it sleep for a minute or two it won't do this glitch, but if you let it sleep lets say for 20 min or something it will do that glitch always.

I've just let my laptop sleep for around 30 minutes and returned and pressed the fingerprint button and it woke instantly.

I pressed quickly and let go just as quick.

I'll test again later in case this is an intermittent thing.

That's weird, you should've gotten the glitch. I posted this problem elsewhere and I get more and more people saying they're having the same issue / can replicate it..

Apple is more and more unpredictable by the day.

I have other issue, which most people.dont - mainly my reminders not syncing between my iPhone and Mac, but they sync from.my mac to iPhone!

I'll retest the touch ID again later this afternoon. And to be clear, it will have lid open and be in sleep mode with screen black for more than 30 minutes. I won't be able to just touch the ID button but will need to click to unlock. Is that the correct process?

And just tested again. Laptop was off for an hour or so, quick press of Touch ID button and it unlocked without issue.

Yes, you are correct.

I don't get why you didn't get the bug. Countless of people and me are getting it exactly as shown in this thread.. I'm so confused now..

I have no idea why either, but not complaining 😂

I took a video to show what happens. This is after the laptop has been in sleep for well over an hour.

And to confirm - it's a MBP M2 16".

WoW the inconsistency of this bug across some MacBooks is crazy. Most people show the same bug that I have, yet here you are without it, now I'm totally lost whether it's bad batch of MacBooks or what..

I have to say, I too am baffled. I used to have the same issue as you and found it really frustrating. But it just resolved itself. I dont think it's a dodgy batch of Macs, it's just Apple not being as efficient as they once were.

Well, things got a little more confusing this afternoon. I'd left the laptop in sleep whilst I watched the football (just over 90 minutes), then when I came back to the laptop, I thought "let me see what happens if I just rest my finger on the finger print sensor". So I did and to my surprise it unlocked. I thought it had to be clicked to unlock!

I'm going to try it again now and see if it works again 🤞
