woohoo! worked for me on my excellent target week 37 16 gigger, executed from from my xp desktop machine. first time i ran touchfree it appeared to hang, but i cancelled it and restarted and followed the direction in the first post and it worked like a charm! now all i need is map and mail and i'll be pretty pleased...

update: map and mail and more now onboard via filezilla. extra credit for using filezilla to set the permissions.

thanks PB for your great work on all this!

and now i have an idea for another project for ya: while poking around with filezilla i noticed lots of language files. bet some usable space could be recovered if you removed all the ones you didn't need... there are apps that do this for osx - now maybe we need one for the touch. wadaya think???

What determines the space for installed apps? Like in installer.app it says xx.xMB available, but I have a lot more than that free. Can I assign more space for apps?

Im pretty illiterate when it comes to running codes but PuTTY seems to be the easiest method. to the point how do you use it to add the basic iphone apps such as notes, maps, mail etc. ? any help would be greatly appreciated.

thnx

I just registered here to make one or two posts. Got it working no problem with the first post after reading a few pages, but didn't need those. I use Linux alot, so having ssh may be neat to play with. I mainly came here to say thanks, but does anyone knows if it would be possible to upload videos, pictures, or music to the ipod via ssh since linux doesn't have iTunes?

Keep up the good work. Thnx.

installing an app

Please forgive me, I'm a PC user, and this is my first apple product.

I got my iPod Touch hacked, and I've installed a few of the packages/etc, but what I'm trying to get is telnet installed on it.

How do I either download it from the iPod Touch, or transfer it from my PC to the Touch.

Please, any help would be most wonderfully apreciated.

P.S. - Kudos to all you guys who put obviously a lot of time/effort into this. Makes me a much happier apple owner :D

please, I really need help.
I got the fstab error, but I have 7.2.0.240 QTMLclient.dll(in the quicktime folder).
is it the right version or I need some other one?
PS
the path is programmi/quicktime/QTSystem is it right?
can someone provide me the right dll, if my own is wrong?

Two questions:
1. (a stupid question..): How i restore my iPod?

connect ipod to computer; then in springboard, keept pressed home+stadby until ipod turn off; keept both key pressed and when apple logo pop up, relase stand by, but keep pressed home! then itunes will say you that there is an ipod to restore; just click restore and wait until anything ends.

To enter that command, download a program called PUTTY.
Install it on your computer. Log into your ipod (ip address), then put Root and Alpine.
Write in the command and hit enter.

after using this method to jailbreak i have a problem playing songs all of the way through. At what appears to be random points my ipod will just end the song before its over and go to the next one, and i didn't have the problem before the jailbreak.

so i might try another method of unlocking see i have the same problem

Error at stage 5

I have restored my Itouch several times to 1.1.1, I kill anything Itunes related, I crash safari, I have also made sure I copied the itunesmobiledevice.dll to my touchfree directory. I get to touchfree five and i get this message:

Thanks for the help!!! What can I do.

Hm... It worked right away for me. Ran touchfree.exe as an administrator, rebooted 3 times total (+1 automatic reboot) and it was done.

Thanks planetbeing!!! :D

Okay, I did a successful jailbreak earlier today but got a little crazy trying to add the iPhone apps and ended up screwing up the iPod and had to do a RESTORE.

So now I am back and trying to run the touchfree.exe again, but after clicking on it, all I get is... Done! Um... nothing happened though. I see there is a suggestion to type "touchFree.exe one" from the command line to resume, but um... how do I do that exactly? If I type it there, I have to hit return, and when I hit return, it cuts out of the program. So where do I enter the command line phrase?

It doesn't look like you extracted the two directories that were also included in the zip file.

PLANET YOU ARE THE BOMB !!!

I went back and unzipped again and chose copy folders and that worked.

Touchfree worked just fine all the way to the end. Thanks

Now I am off to see what I have to do next. Since I don't have a clue!!

Sorry! I uploaded a bad copy earlier today. Please download the files again and try again.

Per your suggestion, I tried downloading again, and when I execute touchfree.exe, I get the same problem. Can't enter the command because once I type it and hit enter, the program closes.
