Anyone got any advancements? Trackings started for anyone?
Working fine for me (16GB wifi being sent via TNT International). If yours is TNT International as well then make sure you are using the international tracking page (there is a link to it at the bottom of the standard TNT UK tracking page), and if you are using the delivery reference number from the email Apple sent then remember to click the correct radio button beneath the box where you enter the number (by default it is on consignment number but needs to be reference number).

From other posts it may be that some orders are being sent from within the UK via TNT too and might be that their tracking isn't working as well as TNT international?

Let's hope it doesn't crash

May well be the case, mine is shipped by TNT (not international) and I've yet to get the tracking number to work, and my delivery date is still the 28th...

Well, mine used to say it was being shipped by TNT, but now all it says on the Apple Order Page is this:

Shipped on: May 23, 2010 | Print invoice
Estimated Delivery:

Nothing about who's shipping it.

I'm with you on this one. There's no more "Track this package" link on the Order Page. They had better not lost the iPads.

So I know we are all speculating but it seems that:

Wifi + accessories ships from China either TNT/UPS
3G with SIM ships from UK via TNT UK and doesn't track yet
3G without SIM ships from China either TNT/UPS
Accessories alone ship from China either TNT/UPS

I think that is correct.

It also shows that Apple imported stock to the UK in advance of the pre-orders
starting to ship.

Being one of the TNT UK guys I am half pleased/half frustrated.

It is possible for them to reach us ALL tommorrow but so far they won't track.
And Apple may well have told them not to ship until Thursday anyway.

Where as the international deliveries are already tracking and if we all have to wait until Friday anyway then at least you guys can see where your iPads are!

That sounds about right to me.

No idea why the tracking info on the AppleStore (for 'TNT UK Ltd' shipments at least) has gone though...

That actually makes much more sense! Thanks for that round up.

I went up to check my web history and found the track this package link in the cache. Guess what, it works. I can access Apple's Shipment Status despite having the tracking link disappeared from the Order Page. Although it's the same old page, but at least there's still some way to check the status page.

Yes same here... It worked fine before but now it's not telling my Carrier or track this package

Sorry to burst the bubble but that is not definitive. My 32GB WiFi is shipping via TNT UK. I have tracking number but none of this works as per loads of us. That and the removal of the tracking link on the Apple order status. Methinks TNT have asked Apple to remove it as their servers are getting hammered by all us impatient waiters.

Not that I'm fretting. Sure they will all arrive as the the confirmation emails - before or on the 28th. The panic/hysteria here is funny - but whilst not fretting I am also checking delivery status every 5 mins.

Just to add. I'm typing this on a 16GB WiFi so I can understand how bad it must feel to all of you waiting to get your mits on one. It is worth the wait as I'm sure you all know in your hearts

I agree with spinstorm. I do remember the term "MERGE IN TRANSIT" which I've had on occasion before, especially when ordering AppleCare with a new machine: the package gets shipped to the UK and *somewhere* en route, TNT mix in another package containing the AppleCare documentation, rather than having to ship it back to Apple for repacking or to ship the accessories to China.

The upshot being that the package isn't quite as easy to track.

In this case, I'd be *very* surprised if Orange, Voda and O2 shipped all their SIMs (back) to China to be organised, so iPads with SIMs and/or accessories have a more complex logistical journey.

...

That doesn't mean I'm not checking the tracking pages every few hours this week :)

I've just revived a call from TNT saying the plane my iPad was on has crashed near an island somewhere between Sydney and LA...

Not good news at all.

Oh great, now they'll probably spend six years looking for it, only to give up without ever giving you a clear answer about where it is.

So now we have to watch a bunch of people take shifts at an old computer terminal, entering TNT tracking numbers every 108 minutes...

yeah right.
and tom hanks now has a new friend (besides "wilson") who he can talk to?! and paint a face on, multitouch-style?

so they called you personally to tell you about the crash and the delay of your item? hey, that is some pretty good customer service. pretty, pretty goooood...

still wait for my call, though.

Hmm, not so sure about that. More likely that in about 6 years the delivery will make it's way to it's correct destination but the recipient will have spent so long focussing on the wrong things (where is now? how did it get there? why did it take that route? who signed it in? what kind of pen did they use? why? were they left or right handed? would it have mattered if they'd used the other hand? how many other iPads are also lost there? where did they come from? do any of them have accessories? if they had/hadn't had accessories would they have been there longer or less time or would they never have crashed at all?) that they'll completely overlook the fact that their iPad has made it to the end of it's journey as promised...

;)

All I can say is, good on that man. Loved the ending.

Just to add my details into the mix...

I pre-ordered on the 11th:

  • 32GB 3G iPad
  • Camera Connection Kit
  • iPad Case
  • iPad Dock
  • o2 Micro SIM

On Monday, I had a link on the order status page to track the shipment. When clicked, it simply said shipped with TNT. That link has since vanished, although I did get a tracking number which doesn't work on any TNT tracking site.

It also says on the order status page, "Items will be shipped when all items are available" like it said when I ordered my Mac Mini with accessories and custom build.

I just hope that all accessories are available and don't delay the overall shipment :(
