Just to add my details into the mix...

I pre-ordered on the 11th:

  • 32GB 3G iPad
  • Camera Connection Kit
  • iPad Case
  • iPad Dock
  • o2 Micro SIM

On Monday, I had a link on the order status page to track the shipment. When clicked, it simply said shipped with TNT. That link has since vanished, although I did get a tracking number which doesn't work on any TNT tracking site.

It also says on the order status page, "Items will be shipped when all items are available" like it said when I ordered my Mac Mini with accessories and custom build.

I just hope that all accessories are available and don't delay the overall shipment :(

Yes Same here... excepet with teh ORange Sim Card. WHen it says 'whena all items are availble' i hope that doesnt mean that because i ordered the camera conncection kit it will not ship till thats ready because it says when ordering the camera kit now that it will ship in June... AHH

Sorry to burst the bubble but that is not definitive. My 32GB WiFi is shipping via TNT UK. I have tracking number but none of this works as per loads of us. That and the removal of the tracking link on the Apple order status. Methinks TNT have asked Apple to remove it as their servers are getting hammered by all us impatient waiters.

Not that I'm fretting. Sure they will all arrive as the the confirmation emails - before or on the 28th. The panic/hysteria here is funny - but whilst not fretting I am also checking delivery status every 5 mins.

Just to add. I'm typing this on a 16GB WiFi so I can understand how bad it must feel to all of you waiting to get your mits on one. It is worth the wait as I'm sure you all know in your hearts

Same here, i've ordered a 16GB WIFI iPad + Dock. It is being shipped by TNT UK and my tracking numbers never have, and proably never will work:mad:

I must remember never to pre order anything from apple again! It has been so stressful i would have rather got up in the early hours of the morning to get one on launch day, which i have to do anyway for a friend:(

BTW - does anyone know if it is shipping by TNT UK, does that mean it is already in the UK?

Ahh nightmare, I hope an accessory doesn't delay our iPads :(

It has been so stressful

In what way? No offense mucka, I'm genuinely not having a go at you, but if it turns up as expected on Friday, your preorder experience has been a resounding success*. The stress is absolutely of your own making by following and examining the minutiae, and leaping to crazy conclusions. In pre-internet days, you'd place an order, it'd arrive on said day, the end - assuming it arrives on Friday, the post-internet era is no different.

I'm not being a hypocrite and criticizing the endless discussion of our orders - I've made plenty of posts to idle the time away at work, and in a perverse way enjoyed the communal anticipation - but I haven't let any of it stress me out.

*If you've made previous posts that Ive not read, about cancellations or you've had to ring Apple/carrier to take action, then fair enough, stress away.

I did actually have to cancel my first order but i managed to reorder another iPad in time for it to still be delivered on the 28th and thats a whole other story that doesn't need to be dug into:rolleyes:

What has got me stressed is the fact that i cannot accurately track my iPad. You would have thought with such an expensive item coming from such a prestigious company, the tracking number would at least work!

Aah right, fair enough then :)

I'm not worried about it being delivered for Friday.

What does annoy me is that the tracking still doesn't work for TNT UK.
It makes sense that it's not showing up if it's already in the UK as it can easily cross the whole UK and be delivered for Friday even if it doesn't physically start it's journey till Thursday.

As for the serials my US wifi iPad begins with the GBxxxxxxxx serial as well!

Does everyone else see a 9-digit number under where it says "estimated delivery" since they removed the tracking link? It looks similar to the delivery reference/carrier tracking number that was given on the Apple tracking page, but it's not the same one (and like the other number, it does not work on TNT's tracking site).

I do, but I thought that one was the same as the previous number (on the tracking link)

Meh, I think its time to just sit back though and stop worrying. As excited as I am, it'll get here when it gets here...

Apple should use DPD.... They send you an email on day of delivery telling you the expected time of delivery...

i.e.
26 May 2010 07:17 Birmingham On vehicle for delivery

The estimated time of arrival is between 13:58 - 14:58
Out For Delivery e-mail response notification sent

I have relaxed now that iTunes UK has released iWork and iBooks - All is okay

That made no sense! what difference does iBooks and iWork make to TNT not being trackable STILL?! :p

My TNT order tracking has finally updated after being "not found"! :D

This is using the 10 digit "Delivery Reference Number" (starting 811... for me) originally on my shipping notice, rather than the 9 digit "Tracking #" (starting 802... for me) on the current order details, although the 9 digit number does appear as the consignment number, even though it won't search on that (yet).

http://www.tnt.com/webtracker/tracking.do?respLang=en&respCountry=US&searchType=REF&cons=811_______

I'm not sure which page actually gets there, as I'm using the Delivery Status widget to do the tracking. The one that works is "TNT (by reference number)" using the 10 digit number.

Finally!

My tracking number finally works - kind of

It is being shipped by TNT UK but it does not give me all of the info that everyone else is describing. This is all i get...

Be patient...
It's next day delivery, so it should get picked up later this afternoon.
Then go to the hub around midnight, then to your local dept at say 4am, and then out for delivery at 7am.

Although I've never used TNT UK.:p

That is awesome!, I wish more couriers would do that. They should already know the approx times, and it would mean a lot less people missing delivery.

You sir, have just made me a very happy camper :D

I have suddenly lost all sense of logic, what with this iPad and my exams...

Don't get too happy... Apple might have instructed TNT to sit on them until Friday. :(

Too right... some couriers even decide in advance what turnings the drivers will take: they plan the routes to minimise the number of right turns and other manoeuvres, which involve more waiting in traffic and thus more petrol. GENIUS.

My best friends dad is a manager at my local TNT depot. I was talking with him last night because my best friend and our dads were at roller hockey training together and he told me that they have not been told by Apple to keep them until the 28th.

He said that providing that there was no sticker or message on the box that specifically says DO NOT DELIVER UNTIL THE 28th, they will be sent out as asap!

Saying that though and knowing my luck, apple probably will have done just this to stop me from using it for an extra 86400 seconds of my life!

For the first time ever, I've been able to retrieve some information from TNT.

8115****** Details
Consignment 8023*****
Pick up date 26 May 2010
Destination CHESTERFIELD
Delivery Date

Which looks promising. I will be very, very disappointed if it doesn't get delivered tomorrow.

I will be very, very disappointed if it doesn't get delivered tomorrow.

I still choose to assume Friday and to be pleasantly surprised if it arrives tomorrow. Fortunately, I work from home :)

I can imagine a lot of people will actually be very PO'ed if it does get delivered early: some are taking Friday off work to be at home for the delivery, and will have their iPads stuck in some depot over the weekend if they're not home tomorrow and the delivery turns up.

If anyone is in this position, maybe it's worth calling the courier and asking them to postpone delivery until Friday, just in case.

I know what you're saying, but I'm just so excited about it now :)

If it does turn up tomorrow, I'm even considering not going to an after work party with free food & beer so I that I can go home and play with it!

I just phoned TNT to ensure that mine doesn't end up with the neighbours due to our rather ambiguous address and the woman there told me that it will be delivered tomorrow between 9am and 6pm. She knew it was an iPad coming from Apple so I guess that we might get ours a day early. :)

I'm still getting the same message as the original poster when I look at TNT - the rotating orange exclamation mark and "Not Found". Doesn't matter if I use my number (ten digits beginning with 8) as a reference or as a consignment.

Haven't tried to track via the US Apple Store yet as clicking on Order Status has just given me "An Internal Server Error Has Occurred" in Safari for the last four hours.

Edit: US store working, it says TNT UK. Still error messages and/or "Not Found" when I use the US tracking number on the TNT site.

The 10 digit number is the reference number and not the consignment number, the consignment number is 8 digits for UK shipping and 9 digits for international shipping. You can choose reference and track using your 10 digit reference.
