Yup! I have that working with my Magic Trackpad 2.

This could not have come at a better time for me. As many of us are, I’m unexpectedly going to be working from home for the foreseeable future. This will make it 100x easier...

Thanks.

Still I cannot but think that another iteration or two and iPad will become what Macbook has been for years.

If they added a touchpanel on a Macbook today, it would already be a ten times better machine for real work than iPad Pro.

I was worried about them taking mouse support in the traditional desktop environment sense (in turn making touch suffer by making UI/UX more suited to the cursor), but this way is great!

I connected the original Apple Bluetooth Trackpad (the one that used AA batteries) to my iPad and the only functionality that works is single click. No tap to click or any other gestures. Anyone else having this issue?

I’ve had the same experience with Magic Mouse vs Magic Mouse 2. It seems that advanced features only work with the series 2 accessories.

Downloaded 13.4 GM on my IPP 11” and using BOTH Logitech Mx anywhere 2 mouse and the OG wireless trackpad.

Logitech MX Anywhere 2: Scroll wheel is awesome. Both left/right buttons can be configured (in mouse/trackpad settings and inside accessibility settings). THe side buttons can also be fully configured inside accessibility menu to assign functionality. I have one side button mapped to DOCK and the other mapped to multitasking view where all the apps are displayed.

(In the bluetooth menu it says this device may cause interference) OG trackpad - NOTHING WORKS except clicking. No context right click, no gestures, nothing except single click. OBviously apple wants you to purchase the absurd $130 trackpad 2 for these ”features”.

All these mouse features are so stupid on an iPad when apple simply has to add touch to their MB lineup and there will be no BS like an IPP for real work. It’s so sad when you have to cough up $300-$350 for a keyboard that has backlighting and a touchpad to be able to select text without the annoyances of an ipad text selection.

I will say this: Being able to right hand use the mouse while left hand/fingers swipe gestures is pretty fluid. It is in fact much better than a touch screen windows PC. I just wished apple would stop trying to rape their customers wallet all the time and just figure out an all in one device like a macbook with touch UI. The biggest complaints i have with this IPP still in 2020 is the fact of square peg in round hole approach to getting anything done.

It is useful for mouse interface in safari say I can preview links. But I can’t scroll the preview windows, however. I don’t think the mouse interface was originally planned for an ipad because it shows. BUT i have some faith in apple after the departure of that terrible designer jony ives. Since his departure, apple has some sense in improving products (thicker w/bigger capacity batteries) and other practical improvements here and there. This mouse interface shows they actually care about what users want again.

With the MX mouse, can you invert the wheel scrolling to "normal"?

I use and program in SmartSheet which is a web based project management package. This works perfectly in that environment and will allow me to leave the clunky, work provided Dell at home when (if) we ever get to travel again.

lol - "Natural Scrolling". So they originally went with an "Unnatural Scrolling" implementation. Thanks for the reply.

I’ve never been fond of “natural scrolling” - esp using mouse. I’ve been right clicking in safari expecting a context menu but it always does nothing or when positioned on a text line will bring up the copy/paste. I’m sure they will improve upon the mouse interface further. It’s ALMOST there but still an ipad. But I am enjoying it more and more I use it. Especially when doing text heavy work it’s much easier than even with the pencil.

The scroll wheel when set to free spin mode is a joy - pages scroll super fast without lag. The true beauty of this IPP with the 120hz display is seen when you use the mouse to draw in Procreate! It’s so fluid so smooth incredible!

So the way you connect your Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse remains the same as earlier in iPad OS 13.3 add via Bluetooth. And then go to accessibility ?

Installed 13.4 GM on my iPad Pro 2018 and picked up a Magic Trackpad 2. Absolutely love the combination. Not sure I really need to get the magic keyboad that comes out in may.

The settings are no longer a subcategory in Accessibility, but rather have their own settings found under Settings > General > Trackpad

However there are still some settings for fine-tuning found under Accessibility > Pointer Control

The new expensive keyboard should be the best in category, albeit for some serious cash.

It's really awesome. But I'm seeing much faster battery drain on my iPad Pro 11-inch on 13.4 GM.

I‘m so pleased I went in bought that K811 before it discontinued. I’m definitely passing up on that Magic Keyboard for the iPad.. although it’s nice. I currently have mounting dock for the iPad.

I've been trying to find an answer this as well but the only solution I could find was to turn off bluetooth on your Mac, which is not really ideal. I use an app called 1Keyboard to switch off my Magic Keyboard between my iPad and iMac and it works wonderfully and seamlessly (the caveat is that it requires a Mac). Unfortunately there isn't an app to do the same for the Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad 2. I've reached out to the developer to see if a similar app is in the works but seeing how 1Keyboard hasn't been updated for 5 years, I'm not hopeful. Also, such an endeavor might be more complicated considering there are gestures to consider.

By the way, this thread is wonderful. Answered all my questions about using the MT2 on my iPad Pro! Thanks!

I am not sure about the trackpad, but I can use my magic keyboard between multiple Macs by plugging in the lightning cable. When the keyboard is connected to the cable, it automatically pairs with bluetooth to the last device it was plugged into... I realize you need a cable for this, but it's easier for me than unpairing, repairing, etc.

I only have one request: do a what’s on my iPad video. Curious to see what all those apps are. My desktop looks like a barren wasteland of nothingness

You’re right about the cable and it’s something I’m definitely going to try out when I get my Magic Trackpad in! Thanks for the tip. :)

Actually I’ll try it out with my Magic Mouse when I get a chance and report back...

Edit: Unfortunately, Magic Mouse does not automatically pair when connected to iPad Pro :(

Holy ****. This is game-changing. Installed the GM last night and paired my Magic Trackpad 2. Really incredibly well-done and polished. A blast to use and transforms the experience. Can't wait to get my hands on the Magic Keyboard Folio.... Hopefully they add full monitor support in iOS 14, as well.

My question is where does this go from here? For so long the iPad has basically been just a giant iPhone (more iPod touch). With PadOS we finally saw the iPad branch into its own thing but still for the most part, its very similar to iOS. Mouse support opens a lot of options so it will be interesting to see where Apple takes this...

For me, I'm hoping the iPad will more and more become an assistant to the Mac. I'd like to see an Apple branded built in remote desktop solution for being able to use my Mac from my iPad from ANY location with low latency. The next stage of Sidecar.

I'd also like to see more "Pro" apps ported to the iPad Pro. Lets get an iPad version of Final Cut and Pro Tools. With iCloud files, mouse support and a more powerful version of Pad OS, the iPad could really become much more of a serious machine.
