The prices I listed are full retail. Magic Keyboard will also be discounted eventually, although probably not right at launch. Just give it a couple of months.

Yeah, but the $149 trackpad at Apple is to get Space Grey - you can get the silver one even from Apple at $129.

So, anyone that got the new iPad Pro can confirm If there’s a performance warning on the bluetooth settings when Magic Trackpad 2 is connected?
I don't have the new IPP, but I haven't seen such a warning with my 2018 IPP 11. Nor have I found any performance issue. It works perfectly.

Doing some experiments here due to the quarantine. Lol

Like I stated before, the iPad Pro 10.5 can’t keep up with a Magic Trackpad 2 + Logitech K480 Keyboard + Bluetooth headphones (audio stuttering issue upon trackpad connection).

Another interesting bit, the standard 12W charger has no enough power to charge up the iPad while using the keyboard + Magic Trackpad 2, sometimes even dropping in battery percentage.

I‘ll probably have to upgrade to a 18W or 30W charger with the lightning/USB-C cable if I ever want to use the USB dongle with it.

UPDATE: works fine with that setup and AAC headphones. The issue seems to happen only with the SBC codec.

I did try it with Lightroom and it worked well, no limitations that I could see. I felt I had good control of sliders, etc. but that it would take me a bit to get used to as I generally am not a trackpad user. Subjectively, I feel it will be better than using a mouse and for me, significantly better than finger on screen.

It works great for me in Lightroom, with the big drawback that I am unable to use the trackpad to scroll in the app. I have to click and manually drag to scroll anything. Has it been working for anyone else?

Can someone confirm/test if it’s working with Remote Control Apps like Teamviewer, some VNC or RDP Clients?

All set up with my new iPad Pro and Magic Trackpad and man this is great....know I made the right decision getting from my MacBook to this...
I am so excited to not be choosing between two portable machines anymore - I am going to consolidate my MBP and iPad Pro to just my iPad with the Magic Keyboard accessory. For a Mac I’ll get the 27” iMac whenever it is redesigned. One desktop home base station and one portable machine.. Can’t wait!!

I think the real game changer is if you use a magic trackpad 2. I don't expect a regular mouse without any gesture to be very good. For those using a mac will be right at home with the MT2 gestures because its the same ones. I use it since monday alongside my smart keyboard folio on my 12.9 iPad pro and its fantastic. Its really a game changer for me and it really feel like a laptop experience.

I think if you have the big 12,9 iPad, its a must to have the smart keyboard and a trackpad, it will transform your iPad into a laptop replacement plus you still have a tablet if you just want to use it that way. With my iMac and now my iPad pro I think I really have the best of both worlds and I'll never buy a regular laptop again (but yeah, if you don't have a desktop computer and decide to have a laptop or an iPad, it could be a more difficult choice because sometimes, you want to have a full OS).

I'm using the recently updated Screens app to connect to my iMac and for pointing, clicking, right-clicking and dragging the Magic Trackpad 2 works wonderfully. The two-finger left / right swipe to go backwards and forwards is buggy, and other gestures are captured by iOS (for example three-finger swipe up).

I’m a MBP user myself, but I hope many follow your lead. The iPad Pro can really do wonders as a portable computer. Most of all, an iMac is cheaper, more powerful than a MBP - and it’s not not portable. It’s more portable than a regular desktop, and can suite many needs. My MBP rarely leaves my desk.

It’s kind of exciting that iMacs may see a resurgence due to the increased capability of iPads as portable computers. Another factor leading into my decision to head towards iPad + iMac is that my lifestyle is different now. As a student I definitely would’ve always needed a portable Mac to take to the library or dorm or class, but now as a full-time employee I really don’t need full Mac capability and productivity everywhere I go. I have a work-issued PC laptop for the rare occasion where I need to do anything outside of the office.

Really the only time I need my Mac in my normal workflow is to sync newly downloaded music to my phone and iPad, which I am fine with only being able to do from home. That being said, I would often want to use my Mac over my iPad due to the lack of adjustable angles, stability in the lap, and no backlit keyboard... but with the Magic Keyboard that will all go away.

I haven’t owned an iMac since the 2008 variant so I am very excited. Hopefully they redesign it soon, since I’d feel weird buying a 7 year old design (even though it has stood the test of time and still looks beautiful). :)

Yeah, I think you are right. The desktop Mac plus iPad combo just got a shot in the arm. I am retired but still do some family real estate business. I can do all of my mobile computing on the iPad, which includes a monthly meeting with the bookkeeper to update some financial spreadsheets. The new mouse capabilities makes the iPad more viable for this type of work.

So, honestly, I can probably do 85% of my workflow and computing on by $250 base iPad 7 plus keyboard, mouse and pencil. My wife has an iPad too that she largely uses for content consumption. We could share a desktop Mac and never really be inconvenienced by the other’s use. In our case, this means we can probably eliminate one of our computers in the house.

Hate to imagine how much that would cost
I think Apple just might be courageous enough to make such a thing lol I kid I kid

But thats what I though too using an 11” with a mouse yesterday. It seemed a bit overkill. Now a huge 15” tab if they can make it light enough, wow! I’d probably shatter that think in the first week slamming into a door frame though :p

I’m totally agree with you for the iMac and iPad pro combo. I love my iMac because its more confortable to use for extended sessions (bigger screen, adjustable angles, full keyboaerd with numeric keypad, playing some emulator games etc) but my iPad Pro is perfect for browsing the web, texting and do some productivity work. The trackpad support really make a difference between a media consomption device and a real candidate for a laptop replacement and still have a consomption device when using it as a tablet.

I think now the iPad Pro is finally really worth it and its not just a bigger overpriced iPad anymore.
