Citrix Workspace support for mouse very incomplete. Can’t scroll, highlight and copy, or right click. I guess it will have to be updated, but this is a good start. Citrix needs an update anyway for better integration, and if it can get full mouse support, that would be awesome.

In the meantime I will still have to use my MacBook for Citrix Workspace.

I think the OP raises an interesting question. The MBA and iPad are starting to overlap more and more. College student adoption of iPad is critical. From my discussions with my college kids, the MBA and Surface are kings on campus. They see very few iPads. I know Apple wants us to believe all these students are reading text books and taking notes on iPads, but according to my 3 college students it just ain’t happening. With the introduction of The magic keyboard trackpad For iPad, Apple might have closed an important gap, but they are going to have to offer a package to students that’s $899 with keyboard and pencil. Right now the base 12.9in iPad plus magic keyboard trackpad and pencil is over $1,475. Even if the student gets the base 11in iPad, you are talking about $1,225. I think most students will just buy a New MBA with student discount for $899.

It’s pretty cool but I have a few questions:

How do I tap to highlight text (I have tap enabled to click but it does not work like my MacBook when grabbing text, I have to click down instead which is annoying)

Also if I right click a link in safari the menu no longer has open in new Tab?? I’m sure this was a option before I upgraded to 13.4 as I used it all the time

Open in Background works just like Open in New Tab (I had this pointed out to me after posing the same question).

Just had a very quick play having had issues getting my 1st gen IPP to find the Magic Mouse. Went into Excel app (which will be my main use of a mouse if it works) and I can click to select cells and scroll fine, but when I click on a filter and the pull-down menu appears I cannot successfully click / choose any of the filters.

Might be me?

or perhaps I need to change the settings.

How do you scroll with the first gen MM? I can left and right click with it, but I can't figure out how to scroll.

Been using the MX Anywhere 2S but today I got the Trackpad 2 - works really well and is very smooth with support for gestures.

Alright that’s it. I am ordering the Trackpad 2 online right now. I hate having fingerprints on my iPad Pro. This is going to be a game changer for me. I have the Smart Keyboard Folio. With the Trackpad 2, its going to be a gamechanger.

On a side note, has anyone used the Trackpad 2 with Adobe Lightroom to edit photos? Is the experience better or the same? Any limitations currently?

I have one reserved for pickup at Microcenter tomorrow. The YouTube reviews have been pretty enthusiastic.
I bought one immediately when Trackpad support was announced Last week. Have now used the magic Trackpad 2 for a few days and it works very well. Takes abit of getting used to but I like it. Waiting for apps to make full use of this Now.

I did try it with Lightroom and it worked well, no limitations that I could see. I felt I had good control of sliders, etc. but that it would take me a bit to get used to as I generally am not a trackpad user. Subjectively, I feel it will be better than using a mouse and for me, significantly better than finger on screen.

Leaving my job next week, looks like the folks there have been generous and I’ve got an Amazon voucher coming. Depending on how I get on with MM2 (that i already have) with new IPP (being delivered later today). I might get the Trackpad2.

You don't even need an iPad Pro to get the trackpad or mouse support- anything that will run iPadOS 13.4 is covered.
Yeah, I know, but when I attached my MM2 to my 1st gen IPP yesterday (on 13.4), some stuff worked and some stuff didn’t. In particular, I went into excel, clicked on a filter, the sub menu came up, but no clicks registered my selection.

Unfortunately Apple didn't publicize the trackpad features to developers so there's going to be a bit of a wait while we get apps updated. Apple hasn't even released the updated iWork apps which enable trackpad functionality yet.

Using my 2017 iPad Pro with Magic Trackpad 2 - you’re right, this is fantastic. They totally rethought the cursor. The beauty of it is that it doesn’t just drag a cursor around the screen, the gestures that people will almost notice immediately, allows discoverability through swiping. I also think the snapping to elements totally works for iPad, since the screen isn’t as big as a desktop OS.

So yeah, that 11" US$299 Magic Keyboard with trackpad is expensive, but I find it ironic so many people seem to have no problem adding a US$149 Magic Trackpad to their US$179 Apple Smart Keyboard Folio setups (total $328). :p

$149? I got it for $118 at Amazon and also used a $15 off coupon I had. And I went for the Logitech Slim Folio Pro for $129.

The prices I listed are full retail. Magic Keyboard will also be discounted eventually, although probably not right at launch. Just give it a couple of months.
