One of my buddies can't get it to work. He's in Hollywood, CA. I guess not all of So Cal has it working yet.

So for those of you on itunes 9 with iphone 3.0.1 and carrier 5.1, does you MMS work? If so what all did you do ?

i was able to update to the 5.1 carrier file, and i can now see the camera icon in text messages, but when i try to send a picture i get the red exclamation point saying it failed.....

So, now your next step is to wait until the 25th, like everyone else with that problem, unfortunately.

I don't mean to be a pain, but I want to try this and cannot figure it out. I downloaded the file, but when I option+shift click update I can't select the file. What's up?

Tried it once on 3.1 with the 5.0 and 5.1 carrier files, no luck on either.

I'm in the DC/Baltimore metro area.

Close iTunes

Open Terminal

Code:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

Close Terminal

Open iTunes

Try it again.
(assuming you use a Mac)

OMG, I had iTunes open when I was issuing that command. As a full time software engineer that is extremely embarrassing...

hey lakerfan what software are you on 3.01? im on 3.0 carrier5.1 and im in san antonio and it aint working for me did the reset and network setting reset and no go

I'm in San Antonio and it doesn't work. Get that ugly red dot with an exclamation mark. Any tips? I am on "Messaging Unlimited for Families". I"m on 3.1 and the carrier file linked to on the first page (5.1?).

try turning off iphone and leaving off for a few minutes then trying again on power up. this seemed to work for a friend of mine from a diff area

That did the trick to upload the carrier file. MMS back. But tethering gone, now just a fond memory.

Why, that is shocking! Shocking, I say! As a full time IT Director, I would be appalled, if I had not done the exact same thing myself.

I swear, its the simple things every time...

OK, so I got it working on both of my iPhones. That's:
Hermosa Beach, CA
3GS running 3.1 updated with iTunes 9
3G running 3.1 updated with iTunes 9

Orange County, CA area. Using 3.0 JB, with the ipcc 5.1.

Works so far, even got a couple my friends tried to send me the other day pop up.

Did you go to Settings/General/Network/CellularDataNetwork/ResetSettings
(Click on reset settings that is then click reset when prompted)
Then hit your home button and Power phone completely off and then Power back on? if not try that.

Hey twinturbo and geekmommy, I'm on 3.0.1. and I have the 5.1 file. I don't see the hurry in updating to 3.1 yet. I have 200 text messages on my line. It's been working for over a week now. I've seen some that have updated to 3.1 and it's still working.

I agree.

I live in Los Angeles.

I have a 3GS with OS 3.01 and carrier 5.1.

I get the camera icon in my text messenger, but it wont send pics...

I'll just wait to see if it magically works, by the grace of the three Cingular gods--Ay, Tee, & Tee on the 25th.

...Hopefully there will be a tethering fix for OS 3.1 by then too?

^_^

Yes, I followed those steps, but it still doesn't work. I'll just have to wait. I've just been wanting to finally send a message to my sister...who has a Pre and rubs it in regularly that I can't send MMS. LOL

No option to load ipcc file

Running iTunes 9 for Windows (64 bit)and OS 3.1. When I ctrl/shift update I only get an option to search for ispw files and cannot see the ipcc file to load it. Anyone have any ideas?
