I'm a fan of the Ubuntu OS, but I wouldn't shell out $600 for vaporware. Once it is released and certified as a quality product, I will buy one.

This. I can't believe anyone would consider shelling out $600-800 for what is essentially a proof of concept, with no real evidence of functionality. No specific details on CPU or battery? You guys have much more faith than I do.

And expected delivery of May 2014--when was the last time you saw something similar actually launch when expected? I'd wager nobody will see theirs before end of 2014, if then.

In my case camera performance is of no concern to me. Nor do I require the latest specs for this first gen smartphone. It's very attractive as it is, plus it'll be but one of several smartphones I use concurrently anyway.

I'm interested in all platforms, especially something new. I put my money where my mouth is and paid up for one. It's just one more device to look forward to.

Another thing to note about this phone that most websites seem to miss is the inclusion of a nanowire battery.

"A nanowire battery is a lithium-ion battery with a stainless steel anode covered in silicon nanowires. It replaces the traditional graphite anode. Silicon, which stores ten times more lithium than graphite, offers the potential for increased energy density, thus reducing the mass of the battery."

It will also be interesting to see how a sapphire crystal display can stand drops and scratches compared to GG.

I've followed this project since it's inception, therefore I'm particularly excited. No matter what the outcome is in terms of sales and public acceptance, I for one am going to enjoy every minute of it.

Reduces the mass? So instead of opting for a battery that potentially had 10x the battery life.. They made it so thin it'll probably only match current battery life... Great.

Well considering it's 9mm thick which puts it larger than both the iPhone 5 and S4 I would say they didn't do this to make it thinner.

The screen is too big (4.3 was too big for me even). I don't want 128GB on a device that fits in my pocket either. I'm so over that "docked" experience too.

AKA Apple fan. this time last year you would have said 4" was too big. Guess what! iPhone 5S won't be to your taste, unless you switch. This duel boots Ubuntu/android it would be 64GB each mate.

other than the camera and screen size i'm really impressed by the specs, the question is, will this phone have the same specs by the time they raise the whole amount, wont it be a bit outdated

...outdated? In what way would this phone be outdated in 10 months time? ._.

i love the specs and the dual-booting concept is really cool. i hope they are able to raise money by the end of the year so we can see this beast in may/june crushing each and every other flagship phone.

is that the final design or just a concept? seems good, i hope we see this device in the market.

Technically the whole phone is a concept right now until the project hits $32 million on Indiegogo but I would assume that the final product, if the funding is successful, won't look much different than what we're seeing right now

Aside from the screen - which is pretty crappy by today's standards, let alone for a device that's going to be released next year - this thing looks amazing. I wish I had the money to throw at an unproven experimental project... but I just don't.

Unless you read my posts last year, then you know nothing. My S2 Skyrocket was either 4.3 or 4.5 inches, I can't tell, but I KNOW that the size got to me, I even DROPPED it a few times because of it. You know, at least with the iPhone, there will be accessories that will be made to handle the bigger size if it does happen.

Right now I have a 3.5" Android, and it's perfect. I know that times are changing though, and I'm going to have to learn to deal with bigger sized phones in the future.

Just because I don't like what YOU do, doesn't mean I'm a sheep.

And I'm still going to say that 128GB is too big of a drive to carry around in your pocket. For a tablet, sure, but a phone? No way. I'd rather get a Passport external drive and a OTG cable, or even one of those wi-fi drives.

New perks have been added and the phone can now be had for $625, $675, $725, and $830 (the first 3 are limited supply). There is also a $1400 option for two Ubuntu Edge phones.

maybe not though. It seems like things are starting to shift back to smaller (4.3") or at least there are options out there for the smaller screens.

I would like to, except I can't. Indiegogo only supports PayPal which I can't use because of their terrible customer service that completely limited my account.

PayPal's attitude made me even refuse to use them - and as a result eBay ..

But back to topic
Fastest multi-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage

Mmm....
Specifications are subject to change.

Of course they are, as the specs are clearly a wish-list.

I am still tempted though .... Although I really don't get the pledgelevel ..

$625-$830 effectively gives you the phone .. and what else is the difference between the level ?
