If the apple polishing cloth did this, maybe then It could justify the £19 price tag!

I laughed at the cloth, but still ordered one

Ordered 16" M1 Max 32 Core 32 GB Memory 1 TB SSD and it shows 5-10 December at the moment but it was because I changed the keyboard layout. With default layout I think it was 15th November.

What did you change the keyboard to?

There are two keyboards for Turkish, Q and F. Q comes standard in all macs unless you change it, I always get the F which is the actual Turkish key layout for speed typing.

anyone else in the 4th-8th Nov camp hoping for a bump up? If it wasn't for the apple store falling apart on all devices I'd have snagged one for the earlier 28th Oct-4th nov (or something around those dates) bracket!

what the earliest people are expecting their BTO devices?
You'll likely get it earlier than that because those dates are deliberately quoted later in case of UPS delays while the item is sent from China. And in my experience the item comes faster. If it ships by Friday you'll have it next week.

Pessimistic me thinks if it is the 4th then it might not ship till a week Friday. Let’s hope I’m wrong

Exact same situation as me. I think it’s going to be a beast, but I’m partly wishing I’d gone 32gb for some headroom. I’ll take the 14 days to decide, but by then the 32GB versions will no doubt be months away.
I’m hoping that by the time it’s in hand I’ll be over upgrade fomo and will be happy tbh. Certainly happy to save the £400 if I can…

Do you have the link to their discount policy? I work in education and wondered what documentation they need.
You can do it direct through apple, start a chat with a specialist and enquire about education discount saying you are a staff member. You then need to send either a photo of your staff ID or your education email address after purchase

So my friend hesitated and the dates had pushed out quite far, he said he saw the £1,899 device on Amazon for pre-order so ordered it. He just got an email to say it will be dispatched on Monday 25th for delivery Tuesday 26th.

Seem likely that Apple is sending initial units to 3rd parties already and they can deliver that quick? I want to call BS but equally, I will be happy if he gets it on that date.

I've ordered a 16" M1 Max, 32 GPU Cores, 1TB SSD, 32GB of RAM. I placed my order within a few seconds of it going up and my delivery date is Tuesday the 26th of October.

This week has felt quite long so far that's for sure!

Apple generally like to have these available with other retailers on day one too, so its not a surprise that some stores (especially Amazon) will have them on day one.

I've been on the fence for years around 13" vs 16" and having had both I still don't know which I prefer.
Gone for the 14" this time so hoping it bridges the gap.
Anyone had an M1 Mac already and aware of any 'surprises' we're in for coming from Intel?

I've just seen that KRCS in the UK have got their order page live, and they're already discounting them by a bit (no good at maths to work out what percentage it equates to).

It IS a difficult choice. Over the years I’ve had 17”, 16”, 13” and indeed 11”. I believe that 14” will be the sweet spot for me. However, if you’re not in the habit of moving your laptop around then perhaps the 16” is best for you.

As for the transition from Intel to M1 Pro or M1 Max, all I can say (having had an M1 MacBook Air for the last 11 months) is that you’re in for a treat. They are in a different league!

Anyone seen any activity on their Order Status?

The funds are still reserved on my credit carD. The delivery date has not changed from 4th-8th November. For some reason, myself constantly checking the status doesn't seem to be expediting it.

Looking at the US orders thread, it seems the first clue is when the funds actually get taken on the credit card.

This waiting is killing me :)

Just ordered a 14" with 32 GB RAM and a 2 TB SSD, had to be the top one with those upgrades. Figured that the RAM shared between GPU/CPU necessitated 32 as I'm frequently using 10 or more on my current MBP which has dedicated GPU memory and who knows in five years time... NHS discount brought the price down a little but still that was quite the investment !

On 14" vs 16" - I've always loved the size of the 12" Powerbook / 13" MacBook/Pro but missed the dedicated graphics and CPU cores on intels. I think this one with the fantastic screen will be an improvement on the 15".

Delivery 30 Nov - 7 Dec, may cancel and reorder if the difference between the Max and Pro is insane, but think this will be fast enough for me in 2026...

Don’t forget the time difference in china to uk. They usually prepare to ship in the evenings (as that’s morning in the factory) and usually will ship by noon the next day (at least in my previous experience)
