I ordered at about 4am and got a confirmation e-mail within an hour.

I ordered with a debit card (Maestro) but nothing taken from my account yet. Just checked online. Should I be concerned?

I ordered a 32gb wifi only and a case. The wording for the case is 'estimated ship by May 28th' whereas the ipad is 'delivers by May 28th' as is the overall estimate at the top. Is the case likely to delay the ipad delivery?

I am hoping not as mine is the same. However the online store had this on the page after I ordered.

your order will be shipped when all individual items become available - as one single shipment

I think everybody has been reading waaaaaaay too much into the whole "ships by" vs "delivers by" 28th May situation. I think the iPad says "delivers by 28th May" simply because of the wording that has been entered into the system. Apple are simply emphasising the fact that "if you order it now, don't worry you'll get it on release day".
That's my opinion at least ;)

This 'shipping everything at once' is what bothers me a bit.

Could it end up that they don't get cases in until mid June and so I would be without the ipad on the 28th?

I can't believe that Apple would put the case up on the site for ordering without having a good amount of them in for sale. Hang on. This is Apple. They can do what they like! ;)

Spoke to Apple CS via the phone, asked whether the accessories could prevent me getting the iPad on the 28th. They said yes, but if you call customer services you can get them to split it into two orders for you, so that you're guaranteed to get the iPad on the 28th (or before if it's anything like the US).

Did you ask about the micro sims? It seems extraordinarily strange if adding a micro sim which the 3G needs would delay the delivery of the iPad.

I did ask online customer services however the lady on there was still trying to sell me the iPad after I told her I had ordered one so I'm not convinced in what she said being accurate but what she told me was that the micro sims are not going to delay delivery for the 28th.

microSIMs reportedly won't make a difference, I'm told.

Will Apple have enough UK stock to honour all pre-orders?

They must know how many units they will have. Will they continue to take pre-orders after that stock is allocated?

I'm not sure what their policy is.

I ordered seconds after the store came back online after the update so if it's first come first served then I should be ok.

You need to add VAT.

Works out about the same with nil shipping costs.

Ah so the apple U.S stores prices are subject to my old enemy VAT. So you pay 429 usd then add VAT on top, i really hate that if thats the case. If its x amount tell me its x amount don't entice me with a price then add the Vat after

Re order delays and accessories...

I ordered the iPad+microSIM on one order, and case+keyboard dock on another (just in case :). Apple put free shipping on both orders.

Well if its like the US Launch they will continue to take pre-orders but the date will change from delivers by 28th May.

Reading reviews about the device it does put me off not being able to multitask. I can deal with having to exit the browser to write a email or do other things. But if i can't have the ipod feature running and browse the web at the same time i might skip it and wait for it to ship with iphone 4.0 installed which should fix this task. Or does it allow this like the ipod touch and iphone. i do however feel it is way overpriced. low end starting price for the 16gb version should be in the £299 bracket

I know the Apple store staff are usually clueless.... but speaking to one today "Well given that a month after launch in the USA they're still struggling for stock, how do you think we're going to fare!?...."

People really expect the iPad to be cheaper in the UK than it is in the US?

Its overpriced no matter what market it is in. I want one but for the price of it i think i'll stick with my iphone and imac for the moment. I prob end up with one once i go into town and played with one.

Yes it will play the iPod whist you browse or email etc.

£299? Well suppose so. I would have liked £199 or less but there we go. It's starting at £429 and selling like hot cakes. My 3G is on order.

I couldn't seem to get mine pre-ordered it was weird, got calls from the bank saying it seemed fraudulent! guess i'll just go to the nearest apple store and get mine there on the first day!

No, Apple quote VAT-inclusive prices in their international stores/online.

Hope you'll be getting there early!

Anyone remember the iPhone 3G launch?

I have good news and bad. The good news is that the low end iPad really only costs £2.15 (Sterling). The bad news is that you don't have Sterling, you have colored paper with the Queen's picture on it. Your rulers have taken the difference between what a pound of silver is worth and what a paper note for £1 is worth, just as our rulers have taken the difference between what a $1 note is worth and the value of 1/20th of an ounce of gold.

Be grateful that you have access to more information than anyone in history or direct your anger where it belongs. Best wishes.
