I honestly, would have gone virtual IF EE didn't have all the Apple carrier features (it's the only carrier to support everything Apple offers), because virtual network prices are even cheaper.

Agreed, I know there are some really cheap offers out there, but feared losing functionality.

I've just seen the same. In fact the person I had failed to message this morning messaged me just now. When I replied they got my reply, but the original message I sent to them is still sitting unsent. Feels like this might be more an iOS issue than a carrier issue.

I got “message not sent” notifications after the first one sent successfully, and on resend they do go through.

So...

Appears as if its just EE stopping people on PAYG getting an eSIM, nothing to do with the network.
If you have the means and get get that lovely yellow bit of card and without EE switching it over for you, then you can do a Sim Swap online from a Physical to an eSim on PAYG.

I've just tested it and now have my EE Pay Monthly eSim, EE PAYG eSIM and my Physical O2 Sim.
Only 1 of the eSims can be active, but using the PAYG i have made/received calls and texts and used the data on it too.
And i can switch back and forth between them pretty freely.

** This post comes with no guarantees or assurances. As EE do not Officially support PAYG, your try this at your own risk **

How did you get the esim card for the payg?

How did you get the esim card for the payg?

I asked them for it, said i had spoken to 150 and knew the process, i just needed a eSim as i didn't have time to stay in store and complete the process, they had to do some checks to make sure they were allowed to give me the eSim (they were still unsure) but they did as they thought it was for my Pay Monthly line.

Ah ok so if you didn’t have a pay monthly line you probably wouldn’t have got it?

Are they not different the QR codes?

I didn't see anything different between the 2 packs I've managed to pick up.

And they didn't vigorously check i was a PAYM customer, took me on my word for it, but again that could be down to each stores polices.

What options did you select when doing the sim swap
https://myaccount.ee.co.uk/app/activate-sim/

Also where is the serial number located on the pack, is it the number on top of the bottom barcode (with no spaces).

It keeps failing for me.

For me it was the third option which I believe said 'replace'... and the number on mine was in the middle of the two barcodes (starting 48...)

Just noticed the URL... I believe I used http://www.ee.co.uk/simswap (although that might redirect elsewhere)

Yeah damn, using exact same process. Will have to pop back into the store.

I mean I assume the barcodes are different.
I know EE are giving out blanks of these but what is unique in the code.

I waiting till 3pm today. Being sent out without any issue. Sometimes it’s better to wait.
[doublepost=1541087824][/doublepost]My eSim will arrive tomorrow but based on all the issues I’m going to wait to activate.

As long as you don't discover they do the sim swap automatically and your existing sim goes dead later today when they process the esim order.

It’s already happened to someone in the thread iirc.

My primary sim is an EE eSim and supports iMessage.

My secondary sim is an O2 nano sim and does not support iMessage. SMS only.

How do I send an SMS using the secondary line? It always seems to default to iMessage

I was on my way to the EE store and bottled it. Going to give it a week or 2 and wait till things are smoothed out.
Issues aside, the EE store I just stopped at told me they could only give me an eSim as a new connection, and not a blank one.

Obviously I know this is false, as a friend went into the same EE store hours earlier and was given a blank one to swap their existing EE number onto. Looks like calling 150 to post one is gonna have to be the way forward.

That is an issue people are having a problem with. Me included. If the other person has iMessage enabled, it will use your primary's iMessage to send.

I believe you can set a default line in contacts for specific people.

You can only use iMessage and FaceTime from the primary line...

Here’s the problem. I was in Turkey last night with work so I was using the work sim to make calls. SMS/data is expensive in Turkey and it is not included in most price plans.

I wanted to text a few people and I couldn’t. No matter what I did they received SMS’s from my personal account and I will be changed for that not my work.

How do you do that when you already have a conversation going with the person? You CANNOT click the new button because it opens the conversation and then you don’t have the opportunity select which line to use.
