Has anyone had any issues with using the BT sports app after transferring to an EE eSim? I had it working previously with a physical sim, but since I changed to eSim, the app asks for me to put in an EE SIM card or upgrade to BT sports app with casting.

One issue I do seem to have with EE since switching to eSim is that Personal Hotspot / Tethering no longer works. In fact the option no longer appears. It tells me to contact EE instead, who don’t know what to suggest.

I had the same problem. Turning on Data Roaming seems to have cured this for me.

Same here, have you spoken to EE?

Don’t really use my free BT sport but just tried it and yeah I’m having the same issue since switching to eSIM

If you don’t know about UK carriers you shouldn’t be commenting in a UK based thread really

EE are part of BT Group and offer free BT Sport on selected plans which now isn’t working once people switch over to the eSIM

What a gracious way of responding to free help

Has anyone had issues making calls once using the Dual sim?

I've had 2 calls today that both dropped and then data stopped working. I had to go to airplane mode and back to normal and then it started working. Very strange- didnt have this issue with single sim. This call was made using the esim and had 3 bars signal.

Some questions

1 - how many esims can you add? I know only two esims o physical sim plus esim can be active at the same time but what about inactive ones. For example from other countries.

2 - are esims backed up anywhere? What if my phone crashes and I need to restore?

Ah ok. Some stores are just giving blank cards out and letting you use sim swap yourself. If that happens you can swap a PAYG.
Highly doubt it. I don't think Pay monthly and prepay sims are cross-compatible.

Technically, there's nothing on the iPhone that would prevent it working, I just think its a carrier imposed limitation. monthly and repay sims have always been different stock.

So for EE, what’s the 100% definitive process to acquire an eSIM and swap from physical SIM to eSIM? I want to use my work voda SIM as the second line.

I went into my local EE store yesterday and got fed a whole bunch of BS which resulted in me leaving the store annoyed and frustrated, and without a way forward.

I’ve been to 2 stores and they just gave me a pack and I did it myself.

I wanted a backup so I went to a third store and was told “oh no sir, we can’t just give you one. We have to activate it all here”.

Basically nobody knows and they are making it up as they go at the moment. Good luck with the frustration.

That’s the official EE policy, you shouldn’t be allowed to leave with an unactivated esim and the other shops were breaking the rules doing so.

Factual info right here;

eSim is the same as a regular sim, but without the physical sim involved. You can call EE customer service, request a replacement eSIM and they'll send it in the post. Only took a day to arrive for me. The pack already had my phone number printed on the inside, and I just had to scan the code on my phone to add a blank number to the settings (it showed 00000000000), then go to ee.co.uk/simswap to complete the process. activated within 5 minutes.
