Stunning!

How are you spacing out the dock like you have? :)

1: Open Terminal, then type the following line for each spacer you want:

defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add '{tile-data={}; tile-type="spacer-tile";}'

2: Type the following to restart the dock:

killall Dock

Basically a spacer is a blank app, so if you want to get rid of one, just drag it off the bar like you would remove another docked app.

Just arrived!

But it turns out that if you add on the Magic Trackpad 2, you don't get an extra lightning cable with it, even though you pay the full price!

Tight ba***rds!

Will have a moan at Apple Support. I'm always running out of lightning cables and they're £15!

Official ones break too easily. Ended up getting the Anker ones from Amazon. Much better too.

hmm... my BTO was shipped from Cork on 21/10 and last location was Dublin ... originally the UPS tracking had delivery on 29/10 but it's been saying scheduled for early delivery 27/10 (TODAY)...

but according to the UPS site, it's still in Dublin - so no idea how I will receive it today? Unless it just hasn't been scanned..

I'd normally expect to see Out for Delivery by this time in the morning, so probably have to clarify with UPS CS when they open at 8am.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

This shipments with UPS are a mess all around. Mine was scheduled for today which would have put it a day late, but then was updated for early delivery that had it delivered yesterday.

The shipment was in England already, but had dispatched from one depot, but didn't update all weekend until Monday morning when it said it arrived in Scotland. Pretty sure it doesn't take 32 hours to get between any depot in the UK.

Honestly, with UPS and your status, I'd say it's 50% if you get it today.

wow!!

i called UPS who said they did;t know if it would get delivered and couldn't tell me the where it was in their network other than what i could see on their website! Utter rubbish!

They told me to call Apple as they would know... why would the sender know?

Anyway, so currently on the blower to Apple ...

UPDATE:

Apple CS confirmed with their Aftersales dept that it will 100% be delivered TODAY (27/10)... They obviously have some more information perhaps?

Apparently I should get an email from UPS (which I have never received for a UPS delivery before)...

Still not convinced, but I'll take Apple's word for it and wait patiently.

UPDATE 2:
It got delivered!! :)

After waiting a week and half, whilst wrestling with the speed (SSD) versus on-board storage (Fusion) dilemma, I finally placed my order tonight. Replacing my early 2009 iMac which has never missed a beat but it's time to upgrade. Roll on the 4th Nov!

My BTO just shipped, ahead of schedule. Estimated delivery Friday 30th Oct. Great news

Ordered a maxed out 27" 5K (buying RAM separately) at 6pm on Sunday evening. Changed to preparing for dispatch at lunch today. Getting excited!

I've got it in my "saved bag" on the site and have not yet clicked "buy"

Haha! I had it saved for nearly two weeks before committing, was waiting for the reviews regarding noise and heat. Deliberated for a long time but so glad I went for it

Had a nightmare today: tried to install Windows 10 via Boot Camp and the partitioning process crashed and just froze. Had to force quit Boot Camp. Drive was messed up though and wouldn't erase, partition or reformat no matter what I did.

Luckily I had backed up everything.

After nearly two hours on the phone with a senior tech at Apple, guiding me though many terminal commands to separate and then recombine the Fusion Drive (among many other things), and hitting many road blocks along the way, it's finally working again.

Phew!

Yeah i7 / M395X / 1TB SSD. Did you order the same spec?

that's my same spec BTO and you know about my RAM from the RAM thread :), so it's all maxed to the max. actually typing it on right now ;)

i'm coming from a 2010 27" iMac .. so expecting double the performance for most tasks that I need it for (photo's and video)..

love the retina screen so far though...

It was super painful to click the place order button but I eventually gave in as I haven't had a computer outside of an iPad for years and need a good family work horse that's going to last a while! I can't stand Windows computers. So cheap and tacky. Had to be Apple, even if you do need to take out a mortgage to buy one.

Awesome! Mine is for work use too; print design and some video. I ended up ordering the extra 16GB of 1866 RAM, bailed on the 32GB 2133 I was eyeing at the last minute. The saved £100+ is going on some more nice design books

Just ordered the 27" 5k iMac with 4ghz processor m395x 512 ssd and magic 2 trackpad so now starts the waiting impatiently till the 4-9 november.
This will be my first iMac having only used the macbook pro i thought i would upgrade to desktop power which will clear the space on my macbook and give it a bit of a rest

Just thought I'd add a tidbit on gaming (not at all technical so I'll mention it here rather than one of the heated benchmark threads)...

GTA V runs MUCH better on the M395X than last year's M295X.

Last year there was noticeable stutter when there was extended pressure on the graphics, most likely caused by the throttling due to the heat levels. Also, the fan was near enough permanently on at full RPM.

This year there is no stuttering and I rarely hear the fan.

Extremely impressed. I'm sure everyone recently ordering one will not be disappointed! Keep us posted! :)

Can I ask what ram you guys went for or if you are still waiting on crucial like me?

The other ram thread is overwhelmed with tech, not sure if should wait or just order elsewhere like Amazon UK.

I went for this at Amazon UK, and it's working great, but when I bought it it was only £65!

But that's the spec you want, there are other sellers online :)

Mine came at the beginning of the week, but only just got chance to setup. I'm amazed! Reminds me of when I got my first retina MPB and the difference is startling!

Got a secondary display too, looks cracking! Now to put my old iMac & thunderbolt display on ebay - served me well :)
