Brand new drive, and the cable that came with it. Prior to disconnecting from the old iMac it hadn't mounted on the desktop. Powered down then connected to new iMac.

Once I have my data across I am going to re-format the drive and start again with the backup.

Mine arrived this morning, its fast but boot time is same or slightly slower than the similar system from 2014. My 2014 system took about 18 seconds to boot this one is taking about 22. I dont know whys that, the ssd is much much faster than the last years model.

Give it some time to bed in. Things are being indexed, if you have a Fusion Drive it'll still be figuring out what to put on the SSD and what to put on the hard drive.

I've got the 256GB SSD not fusion, I was expecting it to be much faster?

My retina MacBook with 256 SSD seems to boot faster than my new retina iMac with 512 SSD

After waiting a week and half, whilst wrestling with the speed (SSD) versus on-board storage (Fusion) dilemma, I finally placed my order tonight. Replacing my early 2009 iMac which has never missed a beat but it's time to upgrade. Roll on the 4th Nov!

That's a business purchase. So no VAT, I know as mine is nearly the same. Although I did get £200 knocked off the purchase price

That makes sense. I've got the student discount available to me which is generous and comes with a 3 year warranty as standard so I'm happy with the price I paid for mine.

Ordered 27" 3.3 i5, 395, 16GB, 1TB SSD. Looking forward to it. Delivers 4-6 Nov. Also picked up a thunderbolt cable so I can use my 2013 iMac as a secondary display.

I ordered mine last night - finally bit the bullet! Going to be replacing a late 2013 which is still pretty swift, but the wife has claimed it already!

6-8 business days though - Boooooooooo! Went with Fusion over SSD. Gotta love HE discount! Has anyone managed to get hold of any 1867MHz RAM, and if so - where from?

I was looking to order this one from Amazon. Was £66 yesterday but price seems to have gone up now. Will wait and see if it drops again.

Anyone receive their 4k iMac yet? If so, can you please list the different resolutions that are available in the "Scaled" display settings? Specifically the one right before the "Default".

woohoo my order is finally showing on the UPS system. Left Tamworth this morning for the Leeds depot, due for delivery on Monday. 4 days earlier than originally stated :D

That's mine arrived and now setup :-D

UPS gave me a 4 hour window, and was 5 minutes outside that window, so pretty happy about that.
