Just had an update from Stormfront. So basically my order says delivery “from” Friday. I messaged them to clarify this, and they’ve said depending on stock levels I should have it for Friday, if not then it will be Monday it gets delivered as they don’t DPD don’t work weekends. Fingers crossed it comes Friday and it will be a very long weekend for me.

DPD do work weekends (even Sundays). The retailer just isn't willing to pay for the upgraded service.

so those who want to just give apple the phone back to Apple after the 11th payment and upgrade.. I'll stress again.. don't! for not much hassle than agreeing a music magpie deal, sending my phone to them and a few phone calls to cancel and settle the plan I'm £230 better off.

sold Phone for: £704
settlement figure: - £575.55
Applecare refund: + £101.68
----------
£230.13

if you give your phone back to apple and just take out a new IUP, you'll see none of that.

...I don't think its that simple - what about the risks involved?

I'm not sure I'd be happy to send back a £1000+ phone in the post, to a company who say 'they'll pay you £750' (or whatever the amount is)! Its not a guaranteed sum - they're free to change it aren't they and what if the phone gets lost on the way?

Anybody know how pick up works on release day? I’ve got a 8:30-9 slot so was hoping if I get there for 8:30 I should be straight in and out, however read a post saying they were there for 2 hours...

Is there two queues? For pick up and walk ins?

Being up north the only two stores we really have are Leeds and Meadowhall, I’m at Meadowhall but I expect both to be busy because of this.. even with the (in my opinion) lack of hype over this phone compared to say the X release

So I pre ordered from Apple but I am getting an expected delivery date from 30th Sept - 7th Oct. Anyone know if Apple under promises on the delivery date and I could expect it sooner?

it is pretty much that simple.. this is the 2nd year I've done it

Music Magpie say its insured, but tis a risk yes... there are also other places to sell in person like CEX or GAME. you could even make more via the eBay route... I go for the most simple/cost effective, this year is was music magpie and now I've got £230 back which happens to be exactly 1/5 of the cost of my new phone :)

those dates are usually pretty accurate from apple, if anything it early would be the beginning date of that window

can imagine the interest levels at regent st or Covent Garden being high, so probably busier.. maybe some of the more out of town stores won't be.. had no issues last time and was done quickly.

yes there's 2 queues, the dude/dudette at the door will tell you which one to wait in when you arrive.

You could, yes. It's be known to happen with previous launches. We're not talking a bump to launch day, but perhaps the end of the first week following release if you're lucky

Has anyone who has ordered through Amazon asked them if they're likely to be delivered on release day as opposed to the currently reported 21st September?

Has anyone got the official clear case and a silicone one? Is the clear one any thicker or exactly the same? TIA!

Has anyone who has ordered through Amazon asked them if they're likely to be delivered on release day as opposed to the currently reported 21st September?
I emailed them asking, they replied and said that it’s marked for release day delivery which means they’ll dispatch it the day before it’s released so that it arrives on the 20th but I see no mention of that on the product page. Amazon usually explicitly puts “release day shipping” on the product page for a pre-order. So who knows o_O

A few pages back someone asked Amazon and they confirmed the phones will be delivered on the 21st, which is kind of odd since other products like games usually arrives on release day, not the day after release day. I ordered an iPhone 11 Pro 256 GB from Amazon and it says ”Will arrive on the 21st”. Having said that, not sure how they allocate their stock. Will not be surprised if arrival date will slip :(

Hmm, thanks...guess we will just have to wait and see!

Who did you go with instead?
Currys and 0% APR

My intention wasn’t to be or come across as rude, sorry if it came across that way.

I also wasn’t talking about how “fair” it is that the USA can spread AC+ payments, as it’s irrelevant as we don’t get the option.

I just don’t think people should buy an iPhone they can’t afford to protect properly-its like buying a really nice car and only being able to afford 3rd party insurance.

If they smash it, then what?

If they couldn’t afford the £200 for AC+, how will they afford to replace the phone?

ight that affect your credit score/rating?
Not sure not too bothered atm don’t have anything else planned. I pay everything on time etc so no

....from my experience, games ordered on Amazon are dispatched ON release day and arrive one day after.

..you'll no doubt receive your phone the next day - so on the 22nd!

Just send it Special Delivery instead of the free postage from the company if you're worried, problem solved.

My Spigen clear case has turned up and looks just like every other clear case they've ever done :) But for £8 it will do the job for when I'm out running/biking and want a bit more grip & drop protection.

Will be interesting to see if the clear Apple cases manage to stay clear and not start to yellow over time like the 3rd party ones.

Then don’t. The phone is sent back via Special Delivery with appropriate insurance, not the Freepost label they give you. Still, it’s your loss of £200ish by not doing it, up to you.
