Anyone that traded in their current iPhone through Music Magpie - what sort of transit time have you seen when returning with their QR code? Next day or longer?

Just deciding what's the latest quote I can get away with using. Normally just send special delivery to be sure but they suggest that might complicate things.
posted 4.50pm weds, tracking showed it arrive to them Friday 3pm, got an email confirming it arrived Saturday afternoon, paid in full around 11am today

Crikey, I’m now very annoyed at the prospect of standing around for a couple of hours... I had naively thought the store would have just allocated enough stock for there to be a simple flow of customers, not hours of backlog.

I should have selected Covent Garden, nobody remembers it exists...

I've not had anything through from EE yet. The text I got saying your order is confirmed has a link for the latest updates but that just says "sorry, we cant show your order details right now, Don't worry, we'll keep you updated on the progress of your order by text or email. Keep an eye out for these updates from EE or from our courier DPD."

I'm looking forward to it, but I am a bit nervous about losing my jailbreak for however long it takes. The main one is something I can't believe they don't allow, youtube to continuing playing in the background. If anyone knows a way around that it would save me having to carry my old iphone8 with my mifi for my commute to work.
Mate, it’s not an Apple limitation. The ‘work around’ is to subscribe to YouTube Premium. Then you can continue playing in the background.

Pickup is Friday 12:30. I can post my X Friday am and it should safely get to magpie before Wednesday the next week

Would have to print out the collection QR code

Can't you just show the QR code on your phone for music magpie?
I've selected Royal Mail and was pretty confused at first.

Hahahahaha! WHOOPS. I hadn't even thought of that.... I better print one out just to be safe.

But... What do I do when the Series 5 arrives next week in order to ensure my EE watch data plan is active only on the new watch?
Last year when I migrated from S3 to S4 on EE all I needed to do was:
  1. Unpair S3
  2. Select ‘keep plan’
  3. Pair new watch (based on back up, but i’m not sure that is necessary)
  4. Confirm that you want to apply plan to new watch.
Now... that didn’t actually work smoothly. The plan should migrate within the hour, but even after overnight it hadn’t. At that point I contacted EE customer service and they took the EMEI of my new Watch to sort out the connection. Hopefully this year it will be smoother for people making the change (I haven’t decided if to upgrade yet, waiting on a friend’s review before committing).

It's no smoother, sadly.

A few days ago I basically had to go through your above process, but instead of migrating to a new device, I had to migrate to a new eSIM on the existing Series 4 Apple Watch due to a cock-up by EE. Took them around 24 hours for all the behind the scenes stuff to work itself through.

I also did a full wipe and restart from scratch with my watch, just in case. Thankfully, it wasn't too complex to get everything setup the way it was before.

Boom! £704 paid from Music Magpie for my XS!
[doublepost=1568631567][/doublepost]
don't put it past the incompetence of carriers...

payment received in full!

Awesome - no hassle at all??

Did you send just the handset, or the box and accessories also?

How long did the process take?

they just want the handset. I might still box mine and include the charger as I have no use for it. Will keep airpods and lightning cable as spares I guess

so those who want to just give apple the phone back to Apple after the 11th payment and upgrade.. I'll stress again.. don't! for not much hassle than agreeing a music magpie deal, sending my phone to them and a few phone calls to cancel and settle the plan I'm £230 better off.

sold Phone for: £704
settlement figure: - £575.55
Applecare refund: + £101.68
----------
£230.13

if you give your phone back to apple and just take out a new IUP, you'll see none of that.

the AppleCare refund goes back to Barclay first but as I've closed my account now, they'll then refund me the amount.. might take a few days to all go through but that's not an issue.

happy days and roll on Friday!

When did you cancel your Apple order? I tried on Saturday and as it was preparing to ship they could not guarantee that it wouldn’t end up being dispatched.
I called up this morning, mines by loan with a delivery date of 1-8th October so it got cancelled right away with the loan

I sent it all back, (had the headphones and plug socket untouched in the box and I swapped the lightening cable for my old one.. otherwise it looks like it was straight off the shelf in an apple store. Didn't see the point of keeping any of it.. have a drawer full of the 5w plugs and the pro is moving to the USB-C variant.

also hoped it would help MM not try knock off any Money :D

Just had an update from Stormfront. So basically my order says delivery “from” Friday. I messaged them to clarify this, and they’ve said depending on stock levels I should have it for Friday, if not then it will be Monday it gets delivered as they don’t DPD don’t work weekends. Fingers crossed it comes Friday and it will be a very long weekend for me.

Thanks both!

I don't think there is a 'proper process' that won't involve calling EE (Which is my preference). I back up my watch to my phone when I unpair, and I back up my phone I encrypt that to iTunes to preserve historic health data. It's natural to me to restore the data from the old watch to the new one. I think my mistake last year was not to click 'keep plan' when unpairing - my logic was that I didn't want to keep the plan on my old watch... My goodness that call to EE was so long... I think I knew more about the watch and various serial / imei /esim numbers than the several operators I spoke to for an hour and half... (single call o_O )
