As much as I'm enjoying the zero stress of having a collection slot at 8:30am on Friday, I'll admit I do miss some of the suspense of waiting for payment to be taking, checking status on the website, then tracking the poor DPD bloke all day as he makes his deliveries before, inevitably, visiting you last.
yeah.. IUP is soooo boring!

I spent last night writing a little app to send me notifications when my watch order changes!.. god help me

On the topic of set up as new or transfer data, is there any advantage to set up as new other than pruning of unused apps etc?

I have my phone in good order in terms of being tidy/trimmed of unnecessary apps/pics etc, but just wondering if there’s some ‘unseen’ advantage to setting up as new i.e. not pulling through old temp files or whatever?

I don’t know if I’m weird but I just enjoy setting up from brand new, feels more like a brand new phone :)

Not sure if there’s any real benefit tbh.

You asked this exact same question, which was debated, ages ago, you just copy/pasted the same thing.

Does anyone have or tried the Spigen liquid crystal case :

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T5XPYS3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A3VB7KXOE27FDQ&th=1

Any images / thoughts on how bulky this is?

Got one on my XR now. It’s pretty good. Very clear which is good. Soft plastic so feels a little rubbery in the hand. Not bulky but not super thin like those shells that aren’t much more than a skin.

Early days but one negative is the bottom lip is a bit rough to the touch - so when you’re swiping to unlock it doesn’t feel great.

Yeh I agree with this, so much more excitement setting it up from new.
Then I remember I have hundreds of apps that are configured how I like, not to mention all the other things that I don't even realise i've changed/customised over the last 2 years

Thanks - Is there enough of a lip on the screen to keep it protected incase of a drop? Have you got an image?

There were no replies to my post, the debate was around whether passwords etc moved over with the various methods. That’s not at all what I asked.

No need to be abrupt, this is a friendly thread.

For those with e-sims from EE on their XS iphones- what's the plan when the new 11's arrive?

Do you go back to a physical sim (via sim swap) and then back to e-sim? or go into a EE store.

Can't find any detailed guidance online?

I picked up this very case on Sunday from Apple Meadowhall and it looks pretty good (at least as far as I can tell without having a phone). The blue is really nice shade and I thought the same as you with the space grey option.

I've used OtterBox cases for years and found them really good - I particularly like the slight lip round the camera that protects the lenses.

Thank you for replying I really appreciate it. The blue should look nice with our phones. I hope you really like your phone when you get it.

Has anyone ordered their phone from Argos like me? I did so to take advantage of the 12 months interest free on my Argos card. I didn’t want to be tied down with an expensive EE contract anymore.

Do you not miss the health data? I think everything else can be re-installed or will come back when you log back into your iCloud account.
Health Data is backed up into iCloud backups, unless you disable the back up.

One tip, rename you current iPhone from say “Dave’s iPhone” to “Dave’s iPhone 7” or something before the last back up.... that way in the health app you can see it as the source of the data and not have multiple devices listed as “Dave’s iPhone”.... same for Apple Watch.... Apple Watch looks like it needs a reboot to change the name in the health app.

you can’t rename the device after is is not linked or paired to health.

some reports that if you unpair the phone and keep the plan... then restore phone from a back up it will be set up on the new phone ok.

not tried this myself, I ordered a eSIM SIM swap from EE website to try and use the QR code swap.

not tried it yet.

when I had my S3 replaced by AppleCare I had to call EE as the screen on the old one was broken... I could not unpair it

I know, but my comment was in response to someone wanting to set their phone up as new, not restore from a backup.

sorry, when I said backed up... I meant sync’d via iCloud so the data will sync back.

same way that bookmarks in Safari, passwords etc are synced

Can I ask what luck people have had with trading in their phones via the usual suspects? Music Magpie, Mazuma, Carphone Warehouse etc.

My iPhone XS Max is in pretty good nick considering it’s been out of the case most of the year.

However there is the tiniest-have-to-look really-hard-in-the-right-light crack in the bottom corner.

I obviously want to maximise the value I get for it but with minimal hassle. MM will pay £390 for a ‘poor’ condition phone but the criteria is vague.

Mazuma seem a little more open to damage but then they obviously depends on them seeing it and possibly revaluing it.

assume the worse and compare the price you get for a walk-in trader like CEX or GAME?

I had my eSIM migrated back to a physical SIM for the past week or so whilst I'm using another phone, and will then migrate back to an eSIM.

eSIMs will not restore from backup.

You can request a new eSIM from EE and keep it in waiting, then activate it on launch day on the new phone. This is what I'll be doing as I miss the dual SIM functionality - having to carry my personal and work phone at the moment.

Any screen protector for 11 pro that you would suggest? I find the Belkin that Apple installs super expensive, tempted for this, any views?
