It worked! The check wasn't instantaneous though (it took 5+ mins).

I didn’t see your message until just before we got to the Apple store, but decided to tell a white lie and say that we were still at our old address (we know the people living there anyway) and it all went through with no problems. Happy owners of two new upgrades. We’ll phone up tomorrow and change our address.

thanks for getting back to me, glad to hear it worked for you!

Hi everyone,

So, my girlfriend took the plunge and bought herself an Apple silicone case in black for her black iPhone 11...

She loves the premium look and it really sets off the beauty of the phone. However, she is a little concerned about the level of protection these cases generally provide. Does anyone here have any experience with these cases and how wear and tear of the phone is affected? The phone is usually kept in a handbag during the day so just wondering about scratching etc. Especially as the bottom portion of the phone (speaker holes) is exposed.

thanks!

I’ve been using the silicone cases since the iPhone 6 and I’ve had one for every iPhone since. I’ve found them to be very durable and they protect well from the odd accidental drop!

They can go a a bit shiny on the corners if you keep them in your pocket but it takes a good few months!

My 11 Pro Max (white/silver) bought yesterday from John Lewis is now fully setup. It just copied everything off my old XS wirelessly (but finance apps mostly needed setting up from scratch again)

The Apple clear case is a bit slippery , but not like a bar of soap lol. I actually quite like it as I found the silicon one on my XS would constantly stick to my suit jacket pocket (first world problem).

Its a fair bit heavier than my XS - but oh my .. the screen is beautiful and big, so I think worth the weight increase. Time will tell.

Added Apple care+ to it via general->about (option was just there) - tells you how long you have left to buy it for this phone.

I was going to wait and choose in store but I’m glad I took a punt on this colour. A nice change from my previous XS gold.

Will be taking the XS to CPW to trade in tomorrow , then cancelling the XS Apple care.

so - not a bad upgrade year at all. Have enjoyed reading this thread.

Hope you have better luck with CPW than I did!!

I’ve just noticed that Safari isn’t rotating on my Pro Max.

iOS 13 bug?

[Edit] - A reboot fixed it, it how the hell do I know “right click” on something, for example to get the url of a clickable icon?

Took possession of my 11PM yesterday and set it up last night. Phone setup went fine but moving my S4 Watch was a disaster! Somehow the passcode got corrupted during the process so I was locked out of my device!

Managed to recover the situation after about an hour of researching - a force press on the screen gave me the option to do a factory reset on the Watch, which allowed me back in. Just need to get my data plan fixed as it became unassociated during the failed update.

The 11 Pro Max is definitely a heavy beast! I will have a muscular pinky from supporting it’s weight before I have finished with it! My wife has decided that the non-Max phone is the one for her, so we’ll be ordering that in the next few days. She is an avid photographer who can’t be bothered to carry specialised camera gear around, so having an excellent one on her phone is important to her.

I have to say the swipe-style keyboard is fantastic! Takes a bit of getting used to but very quick and helpful at avoiding dropping the phone because you can keep a better hold on the device on use. The one handed keyboard is also an interesting feature which I might make more use of on future. It was introduced with the early Plus phones but I don’t think many people are aware it exists.

(It’s a setting on the keyboard page)

Don’t you just hold over it with a bit of pressure and it pops out and gives options for things like “download” or “open in new window”

There’s a few things I can’t get used to:

- how to move the cursor? Used to be force touch and slide on the keyboard..

- how to change the Memoji gender as mines stuck on

Picking up a clear Apple case this morning and you lot have me worried. Might open it in store and swap it out straight away for a silicone one if it’s too slippery.

Are Safari iCloud tabs not working for anybody else?

By iCloud tabs, what I mean is all iOS devices show what tabs are open in Safari on other devices and on Macs. I used to be able to see what tabs I had open on Safari on my Mac and carry on reading once I began commuting when leaving for work.

Tuesday's iOS 13.1 update needs to hurry up!

Is your mac still on Mojave? Won’t work until you upgrade to Catalina. At least that was my experience during the beta.

for the cursor - just stick your finger on it and drag- it’ll move smoothly and follow your finger (slightly aboveso you can see where it’s going)

Yep. Still on Mojave latest/final version.

I can understand the new Reminders app on iOS not working with older versions of macOS as that's a new app from the ground up. Disappointing that such a basic and long-standing feature is not cross macOS version compatible.

Whereas old iOS apps tend to get updated quite quickly, I'm loathe to switch over to Catalina on day one as I have loads of older 32bit software on my Mac that simply won't be updated as it's no longer in the developers' interests to do so. I may have to contemplate running a separate small partition for Mojave with Catalina as my main OS, or virtualising Windows as a workaround.

i guess thats also why I can't connect it to iTunes at the moment. I've only got an elderly MacBook so Catalina might be a stretch.

I ordered from Apple at 13:18 on 13th Sep with a delivery 23-25 and it still sits there at ‘Processing’.
My reaction to this is, “this is the last time I’m ordering this way. In future I’ll get it from someone else”.

I preorderd pro max last Saturday.. it was still processing up until I checked yesterday, and now today the entire order has disappeared in my apple account....

Picked up from Highcross. I traded in my X with them and joined the iUP, but was surprised
to see that the £290 they gave me for my X went towards the £69 deposit and the rest £221 was put back onto my debit card. I thought my monthly payments to barclays would have been lowered instead. Am I missing something or... any help appreciated

I’m more surprised Apple gave you £290 for your iPhone X 😮. I’m sure when I select the trade in option for an iPhone XS, they offer less than that......

Same here, ordered around 17:00, delivery 23-25. But still at 'Processing' :/

Long press on the space bar. This is the one thing that is a retrograde step in the UI, in my opinion. It will take some adjustment to retrain muscle memory on this feature.
As a long-time iPhone user, I’m ashamed to say I never even knew this existed. I just used to touch the screen where I wanted to move the cursor to and half the time it went where I wanted, the other half it didn’t and frustrated me no end. I’m chuffed to find I can use the space bar lol.

This is my issue with upgrading too. I only have a couple of 32-bit apps, but I do use them and I doubt they will ever be updated

I don't seem to be able to expand notifications on the lock screen using haptic touch while it's locked like I could on my X. Currently it responds with haptic feedback but doesn't expand like it would if it was unlocked or if you were to swipe and tap 'view'.

Is this a haptic touch limitation?
