As I do every year, I made the decision at a pretty early stage that I would not be upgrading this year.

So today I ordered an iPhone 12. My delivery date is "two to three weeks", which is slightly frustrating.

I currently have an SE 2020, having weirdly traded down from an iPhone 11 Pro Max because it was just too big and heavy. I was pretty clear that I didn't need a new phone. But the regular 12 blue is just so pretty. And I do miss the better cameras that the 11 series had compared with my SE.

I'm the kind of person who would normally go for the Pro, but I've tried to be more sensible with money recently and they've made the regular 12 too good. The only thing I'm missing with the regular 12 is the third lens. I think it could be quite fun to have it, but not £200 of fun. (Well, £150. I went with the 128GB.)

If I could wind back the clock a year, knowing what I know now, I would have bought the iPhone 11 Pro, normal size, and I'd probably stick with it and not upgrade.

My one concern about moving to the 12 is battery life. The battery life on the SE is awful, so I have the Smart Battery Case. (Which ironically makes it even heavier than the 11 Pro Max it replaced because the 11 Pro Max was "too heavy".) So I currently get enough electric juice to easily last me a full day.

I'm not sure the 12 will do so. It claims 17 hours of video, I think. Hmm. I wonder.

I'm kinda excited about the Mag Safe thing. I ordered the charging puck thing. And the transparent case.
Good luck with your purchase.

Retailers such as AO might have it for next week order, depending on configuration.

If you wanted a red one, I can sell it to you as I have two phones coming and I can't cancel it.

Sorry, I amended my post to state I can't add on the AppleCare in instalments. I know I can add it on if I pay for the AppleCare in full.

Ah -

Thanks. I'm "happy" to wait. I should really learn to be patient. And I want to order from Apple because they're so good at returns and I'm getting the Barclays 0% finance.

I would have gone for the red one (my SE is red) but the blue one is just so damned beautiful. Well, the renders on the website are. I hope the real thing is.

This was actually one of the reasons I didn't buy the Pro: I don't love any of the colour options.

Me too, I just like the colours of the non Pro this year

If anyone sees a case they love, I recommend buying it and not waiting. Saw two I want on Amazon, left it for a day or two and they both out of stock! Ugh. Looking for clear spigen cases

Have to say I know it’s safe to buy AppleCare but tbh last year was the first time I didn’t bother at all for this iPhone and touch wood I’ve been fine. Always ended up never claiming on it and getting the refund at the end of my 12 months anyway 😅

Anyone had any experience with the ESR clear cases? Ordered one for £5.59 with 20% off. But confused by all the 5 star reviews already though haha. Anyone found any other decent clear cases?

I’ve an ESR case which arrived today: my first ESR case

I have a clear spigen case for my 11 pro max and it is really yellow now :/
I have one for my 7, it has yellowed but the protection of my device is really good. Same with the 6s that is still in use by a family member. Does anyone recommend any cases that do not yellow as much?

With cases, the sensible option for me was to just buy a cheap £10 spigen one from Amazon so I have some protection when I get the phone and then see what options there are in a few months when more get released, or at least I get to see what the £50 ones look like before buying.

Similar with chargers. I like the idea of the Magsafe Duo, so I don't see any reason to rush out and buy anything just yet. I have plenty of chargers (wireless and lightning) that will do for now whilst I wait for things to get released.

Maybe by christmas there will be enough options to make an informed purchase, but at the moment it just isn't clear what will be the best options.

My Apple clear case hasn’t turned yellow, but the magnets in this year’s look bad
Never bought an official Apple case. Correct the magnets on that case looks bad.
I used the JEtech clear case before and I feel it took quite a bit longer to go yellow or lasted the full term.
Might give it ago. Seen any good ones on Amazon? I usually always go for spigen but might need to venture out now.
