Hey guys new to the thread but have been reading away. I had ordered a a pacific blue iPhone 12 pro from Apple with delayed delivery date but just saw AO.com have release day stock of the iPhone 12 Pro's! So cancelled my order with Apple and pre-ordered with them!

Thank you so much for this tip! I had the 128GB in Silver with a 2nd-9th delivery estimate from Apple. Now arriving on release day!

They lie about 5G coverage they keep on boosting on about on twitter we are building the largest 5G network 2 billion pounds spent yet to seen any improvement even the CEO walked he knows his company is full of s**t giving everyone false hopes been with 3 for 4 years EE is next level in call quality and data speeds..
You're not on the fence with this one then?

Tried webchat with EE

Seems a little screw up so will need to ring them up to see what happens

Asked for the 100GB sim deal but said because I have student discount on my current plan if I get a new code she can get it for £16 per month. gave her a new code from student beans. she upgraded by plan etc said it’s all done.

30 mins later get a text saying student discount has now been removed from my price plan.
another 15 mins another text saying she can’t get the discount entered and it should of been done on the website by myself

They would budge less than £20 with the 20% discount

been trying to apply my student discount code from studentbeans on a 5GH £20 200GB SIM only upgrade deal all day, upgrading from my now out of contract £21 20GB SIM only deal with an existing 20% student discount on.

No joy all day.

Doesn’t help that EE’s T&Cs say that student discount can only be applied online and only at time of purchase. Can’t cancel and apply from scratch as my wife & sons phone are on second and third lines on my account.

Take it you didn’t get anywhere with EE on applying your own discount code?

I tried online but they failed to apply Perks and Student Discount

It was them that mentioned I currently have Student Discount on webchat and if I can get a new code she will apply it herself. I checked before that I am only paying £16 per month and she confirmed it and I have the transcript.

will ring the 0800 number posted above on Mon and see what they say and will they still honour the agreed price

You know those people who go to McDonalds and then swear blind they will NEVER go to McDonalds again because they forgot their fries? and post it all over social media like it will make any difference to anybody... And then they go back 2 days later and order a burger...

....I have a feeling this is the classic case of that.

I think op must of had a dropped call once in the past while on three.. 😂

lots of jargon here just to make the product seem great. it is just a screen protector.

But it is great. I used to get the ones fitted at the Apple store but the Spigen ones are better. Perfect instillation and have had one on since February (after the Apple one cracked)

Does wireless charging impact battery health?

I wirelessly charged my 8 plus and battery health dropped to 85% within 6 to 8 months.

Switched back to standard charging with a lightning cable & Apple 12w power adapter and battery health has stayed on 85% for nearly 18 months.

I don't think anybody uses iTunes anymore, just make sure your phone is backed up.

when you turn on your new phone bring your old phone near it (before you have wiped it or anything) and you'll see it pop up on your new phone asking if you want to replace the old phone with the new one and transfer everything over, its very straight forward :)
I want to sell my old Iphone X before getting my new iphone 12, how would I back up everything and be confident enough I won't lose any data

Best bet is to wake up super early on Friday when they open pick ups again.
Cheers, yeah I am reconsidering the purchase and Friday you're right loads will become available- for a moment I saw one of my desired config (256 GB Silver or Gold 12 Pro) in regent street. But I live in Kent, and to get to Oxford Circus I would have a long journey!

iCloud

your phone normally does this overnight automatically if you leave it on charge.

if you go to settings, click your Apple ID at the top, -> iCloud -> manage storage -> backups -> click your phone and it will tell you the last time it was backed up.

Odds are unless you have the 'there is not enough iCloud storage' notification or 'your iPhone hasn't been backed up in xx weeks' then youre good to go.

when you restore your backup onto your new phone its 100% the same as your old phone even down to the wallpaper.

if you don't have enough iCloud storage its like £2 for 200gb which is normally more than enough

Does anyone know if you can pay for applecare monthly if you bought outright or only if you are in the iUP?

Apparently yes. I remember seeing this story earlier this year.

I pay for my watch monthly

I was told the other day by an Apple employee via online chat support, that I CANNOT add AppleCare+ in monthly instalments to my iPhone 12 Pro that I've bought outright.

He told me that you can either buy both the device and AppleCare outright, or both in instalments via Barclays finance.
They can't be split. :-(

I wanted to add AppleCare+ in monthly instalments also!

I can pay AC+ for my watch monthly, so I can't imagine it being different for the phone.

I'm sure that's a mistake, as I purchased AC+ for my iPhone after I bough the device outright.

As I do every year, I made the decision at a pretty early stage that I would not be upgrading this year.

So today I ordered an iPhone 12. My delivery date is "two to three weeks", which is slightly frustrating.

I currently have an SE 2020, having weirdly traded down from an iPhone 11 Pro Max because it was just too big and heavy. I was pretty clear that I didn't need a new phone. But the regular 12 blue is just so pretty. And I do miss the better cameras that the 11 series had compared with my SE.

I'm the kind of person who would normally go for the Pro, but I've tried to be more sensible with money recently and they've made the regular 12 too good. The only thing I'm missing with the regular 12 is the third lens. I think it could be quite fun to have it, but not £200 of fun. (Well, £150. I went with the 128GB.)

If I could wind back the clock a year, knowing what I know now, I would have bought the iPhone 11 Pro, normal size, and I'd probably stick with it and not upgrade.

My one concern about moving to the 12 is battery life. The battery life on the SE is awful, so I have the Smart Battery Case. (Which ironically makes it even heavier than the 11 Pro Max it replaced because the 11 Pro Max was "too heavy".) So I currently get enough electric juice to easily last me a full day.

I'm not sure the 12 will do so. It claims 17 hours of video, I think. Hmm. I wonder.

I'm kinda excited about the Mag Safe thing. I ordered the charging puck thing. And the transparent case.

Oh yeah. I used the Barclays finance because, why not? It's 0%. I'm not sure if I need to do anything more. I got the e-mail saying I'd been approved. It also said I'd have to pay the deposit. But there isn't one. And there was no indication of how I'd pay it.
