Noooooo! I missed the PS5 pre-orders.... Currently unavailable everywhere... 😱😱😱😭😭😭I think I may have a problem! ( that or I’m missing the usual preorder hype) I I jumped on the ps5 bandwagon and pre-ordered one
I’ve not played my PS4 in years...

Assuming the leaks are true is anyone thinking of picking up a 6.7inch model this year? I like the idea but even 6.5inch is fairly big in the hands!

Pre ordering was very bad this year certain stores went early so others followed and then when people tried to order at the correct time all had been sold out. What do you expect to happen though a new console only comes around once every 5 years or so and even with the pandemic peeople are hungry for it. Hope your able to get one
i'll be looking at getting it at christmas or new year i'm more of an xbox person which i'll be pre ordering but i've always had both for the exclusives and i'm a big fan of VR so hoping psvr gets an update.

i've only done the the overnight thing at an apple store waiting for the new iphone once and it was knackering i didn't really go prepared as others did. I'm glad i did it met some great guys even some from macrumous forums who i still keep in touch with today.
I also witnessed the scalpers who used to turn up with around 20 friends and try to cut in. The friends of the scalper were nice enough but you knew who the boss was. Great experience and something i don't regret but would not do it every year once was enough lol

I would have loved to do that just once. I'm not sure it was so popular here in the UK but there are some really nice looking stores in the US id happily do an all nighter outside. I bet its nice to meet those active on macrumors too. Genuinely some nice people in these types of threads.
I'm looking at moving from my android device with a view to get an ipad too. That's my wish anyway. May opt to get an ipad after Christmas putting any gift money towards one.
once you enter the apple ecosystem its difficult to get out lol i entered it back with the original iphone then the ipad followed and watch then bought my first and only macbook pro back in 2015 still going strong. I've added things along the way but once your in its difficult to escape.
That was one of the reasons i bought a macbook as many of the people in the group i became friendly with at the launch had one and let me play around with it. Android is a great OS much more open than ios but thats where the problems start. Too many different phones/tablets to accomodate and the updates are far slower to appear. With ios the everything is updated on a certain date more or less you'd never get that with android other than the pixel range other brands wait months if not more. Welcome to the apple eco system hope you enjoy it
I skipped my yearly watch upgrade this year as I love my S5 ceramic too much but I will definitely continue my yearly phone upgrade. The draw of the 6.7" possibly in blue is just too much to resist

My wife is about to pick up a new iPhone SE from Apple direct. She's thinking of trading in her iPhone 8 against it and Apple are offering her more than Music Magpie are.
I've got an XS Max that MM are offering me £425 for.
I'm thinking that I could sell my XS Max to MM, buy the 8 from my wife for what Apple would give her and then I'd still be money up which I could put towards the new 12 when it comes out (plus whatever I could then get for my wifes 8 whenI sell that).
Is that a ridiculous idea or should I just wait until the 12 comes out then see what I get for my XS Max?
Also, when my wife sells her 8 to Apple as part of the upgrade, she gets a reduction in get monthly payment on the SE. Would that work with the 12 either on 24 months or on the iUP?

Fingers crossed I'll get to move to ios. You have highlighted exactly why I want to move. The update fragmentation is truly bad. Especially with Samsung.
Granted I'm getting regular updates but not at the sane time as others. The carriers have final say in most cases which is shocking.
Yes ios can be limiting and with my iPhone 7 I was merely fed up with how good other cameras were in comparison as dual lenses were becoming the new thing and I wanted to take advantage.
I missed a fair few apps from my ios days. The ios apps have more polish and are clearly far better than their android counterparts. I'm not just talking about the apps across both systems but also the ones that were similar clearly weren't as good. Tweetbot for example isn't on android but what I use isn't as good. Apollo being another ios only app.
Anyway yeah, I'm probably going to miss my spen the most. Its not necessarily a must have for me but I'm sure going to miss it.
Pondering wether to upgrade this year. I have an Xr. I love it but im getting a bit bored of it. So I’m thinking of going for the pro max this year and just keeping it till it absolutely needs replacing.

We don’t know much about the phone yet, let alone know if it’s a major/minor update yet.

Seeing as the Apple Watch S6 had a £20 discount this year I do hope you are right! The iPad had a discount last year I believe and the iPhone 11 also had a £20 discount, although it was $50 in the States. Hopefully Apple have realised with the global COVID situation, more appealing pricing is needed.
