I’ve never successfully put on a screen protector on before and I haven’t tried in a long time. I usually get this kiosk in the shopping centre to do it for me. They charge like £2 for the service.

Obviously with lockdown they’re closed right now so I had no choice but to put it on myself. I have the ESR one and used the tool with it and I have to say it went on almost perfectly. I did get a slight bit of dust towards the middle on the left hand edge which is a tad annoying as it’s noticeable. However rather then retry it I’ve decided to leave it for now.

When the lockdown is over hopefully that kiosk will open up again and I can get them to replace it with one of the other two. At least in the mean time my phone’s screen is safe.

Had the same thing happen when I put my ESR protector on, if you use a credit card and just keep on pushing the bubble out to the edge it'll normally work it's way out that's how I got rid of 2 specks that I could see after installing it.

There was still one I couldn't get to budge no matter how many times I tried but after a couple of hours in my pocket it disappeared and hasn't reappear since.

Another thing you can try is to apply it in the bathroom, run the shower so you get a lot of steam the steam should take most of the motes of dust out the air then apply it, done that with the screen protector on my iPad Pro and no bubbles, that was going to be my next option if the bubble didn't disappear.

Thanks for the tips. I’ll try the credit card one. If it doesn’t work I’ll probably just wait until I can take it to get the screen protector replaced at the kiosk.

I've had no end of EE eSIM issues, but the lure of being able to carry just one phone for personal and work use remains too strong.

I've been using eSIM since it first launched on the XS series of phones when it was probably a bit premature - you could only do calls and SMS back then and you couldn't switch off the second line! Thankfully an iOS update fixed this a few months later.

When it launched, my local EE store ended up killing my physical SIM card and the scanning of the eSIM QR code failed, so I was without anything. Reverted back to a physical SIM card a few hours later, but returned to eSIM a week or two later once EE got a better handle of what they were doing.

When the 11 Pro launched, a different EE store wasn't paying attention with what they were doing and ended up killing my main number on eSIM, and some how migrated the eSIM number in my Apple Watch cellular to the 11 Pro Max... Took a couple of days to resolve, but got some credit back for both my personal number and my Apple Watch cellular plan.

I'm now in a position where my local Apple store has stock of 12 Pro Max for collection - a sudden discovery, but I can't get a replacement EE eSIM quickly enough. Potentially Tuesday at earliest if I order one online now.

If you can find one, the Hong Kong dual SIM iPhones are the ones to get as they can actually support 2x physical SIM cards. All the benefit of dual SIM but with none of the faff - just enable SIM PIN for similar security to eSIM.
Call Ee support. I called them a week before I was getting the phone. They configured the esim for my number (had my number on the packaging when it arrived. I scanned it on new phone- then went on EE website to activate and transferred across. Took less than 1min to deactivated old esim and activate new one.

easy peasy...

Just a quick tip for iPhone 12 owners, you can access the inbuilt Lidar functionality by downloading Apple's 'Measure' app. I was going nuts looking for the functionality in the camera settings but it's similar to motion and AR only activating from supported apps. I believe the IKEA app also supports Lidar

I’m not sure which version of the Anker Power Wave you’re using but I have the Anker Power Wave 7.5 I got from Amazon nine months ago and my Pro Max works just fine with that. I also have the Belkin 3 in 1 Power Boost and it works with that too.

I must have the older version of the power wave then as I’ve had it a lot longer than a year. Can you send me links to the ones that you’re currently using that work with the 12 pro max?. Thanks

Yup was always 8am which was annoying for me cos I was always at work

1pm suits me much better now.

iOS does support eSIM transfer between iPhones without any QR codes, but as far as I’m aware none of the UK networks has embraced that option.
I think only then will eSIM be as hassle free as physical SIM...

Must admit I’m surprised EE haven’t taken on this feature yet. Maybe in time they might do, who knows?

Noticed Vodafone now offer the option of an eSIM when you go through the ordering process on their website now.

Maybe it was just me but all 3 left bubbles and after I relifted coz they wouldn’t push out they never stuck down.

Spigen as gone on perfect first time

I’m of the same opinion. Didn’t like the ESR ones! Not the best quality, some had lumps in and other wouldn’t stick. Not a fan of the edges either.

Spigen went on first time no issues and the edges are nice and smooth too!

Does anyone know how AppleCare+ works payment wise. I can see I can me £9.99 a month or £199 straight out. Can I cancel AC+ at any time if I am on the pay monthly? I ask because if I want to upgrade next year will I be expected to pay the remainder to the £199...?

You can stop at anytime. You’re better paying the £199 as it works out cheaper per month. When you get your new phone you just cash it in and Apple refund you. You can cash it it anytime. I just got £87 from last years AC+

Looks to me as though the Spigen cuts around the notch? That’s an instant nope for me I’m afraid.

Anyone with a EE e sim getting a 5G signal? I have turned off the physical sim second line. EE have confirmed I have a 5G package and I’m outdoors in area which has strong 5G coverage.

Anyone who has done a Apple return. When should it say Apple Store / Web that it’s with carrier.

Was picked up Friday evening but doesn’t show it’s been collected

Not sure you can relate to my case. I m planning to return for replacement on belkin SP. Specialist says and order email also shows that it will start the replacement process once UPS personnel collect the return item.
After you described, I have to look out on order update upon his collect.

Well, after much too-ing and fro-ing, I finally decided to remove my Belkin protector and installed the ESR - went on perfectly with no bubbles of course!

Trick is to wipe the bare screen of the phone with the included alcohol wipe and then use the dry cloth to wipe off excessive moisture. Finally, use the included dust remover sticker all over the whole screen before finally applying the protector 😉.

It actually does look as if it is edge to edge as I can barely tell that a protector is on my phone!

Highly recommended.

🙂

.....personally, I think quality wise, 99% of the tempered glass protectors are the same quality - there‘s only limited ways you can cut a sheet of glass and all these different brands, are, in actual fact, probably all cut from the same sheet. They’re probably just branded differently and include various different accessories.

I see no differences between my £30 Belkin glass protector (which Apple installed in store) vs the £7 ESR protector! Both edges are just as smooth and the surfaces of both protectors feel 100% the same.

If you claim it isn’t cheaper paying in full, something to bear in mind

Here you go.

Looks nice enough and will be decent quality, but quite a bit more expensive than the Belkin charger that includes a power adapter and also works with the 12 Pro Max at 7.5W.
