(Off topic) just myself bought the girlfriend a MK bag only to find out John Lewis discounted it by 20% a few days later. Submitted a price match request and had the difference refunded in under an hour, can’t fault John Lewis!
Ha thanks for that, not sure Michael Kors in Puerto Banus will price match the UK!

EE is still behind, I had to request a replacement esim with EE via their website haha. Whilst the esim was being posted, this did not disconnect my current physical sim.

The disconnection of the physical sim only happens once you proceed and activate the esim.

I moved from a physical sim to an esim, which will leave my sim slot free for my future travels.
Thing with EE is they were there from Day 1 with eSIM so they could be up on Apples Keynote and be the first to implement, what they failed to do was implement the technology fully with downloadable links and digital distribution, instead they invested in a crap load of printed material due to "security". Now they have to play catch up to Vodafone who were so late to the party and lost my custom in May to EE because of no eSIM.

Does anyone know how AppleCare+ works payment wise. I can see I can me £9.99 a month or £199 straight out. Can I cancel AC+ at any time if I am on the pay monthly? I ask because if I want to upgrade next year will I be expected to pay the remainder to the £199...?

I've had no end of EE eSIM issues, but the lure of being able to carry just one phone for personal and work use remains too strong.

I've been using eSIM since it first launched on the XS series of phones when it was probably a bit premature - you could only do calls and SMS back then and you couldn't switch off the second line! Thankfully an iOS update fixed this a few months later.

When it launched, my local EE store ended up killing my physical SIM card and the scanning of the eSIM QR code failed, so I was without anything. Reverted back to a physical SIM card a few hours later, but returned to eSIM a week or two later once EE got a better handle of what they were doing.

When the 11 Pro launched, a different EE store wasn't paying attention with what they were doing and ended up killing my main number on eSIM, and some how migrated the eSIM number in my Apple Watch cellular to the 11 Pro Max... Took a couple of days to resolve, but got some credit back for both my personal number and my Apple Watch cellular plan.

I'm now in a position where my local Apple store has stock of 12 Pro Max for collection - a sudden discovery, but I can't get a replacement EE eSIM quickly enough. Potentially Tuesday at earliest if I order one online now.

If you can find one, the Hong Kong dual SIM iPhones are the ones to get as they can actually support 2x physical SIM cards. All the benefit of dual SIM but with none of the faff - just enable SIM PIN for similar security to eSIM.

You can cancel the pay monthly at any time. You can also cancel AppleCare if you pay the lump sum, and receive a prorated rebate, depending if you have any claims or not.

I love JL for their price match. 2018,3 days before Xmas my 2011 MacBook Pro died on me. JL had an appropriate replacement in stock and I drive past on my way home from work each day so I called in and purchased in store. On 27th December in the sale JL dropped the price by £100 so I took my receipt and they refunded the difference. Then on 2nd Jan the local Currys dropped the price a bit more. Took my receipt back and after a quick online check JL refunded a bit more money. All in all I got about £300 back.
Apple wouldn't do that.!

So after a day of using this phone - my verdict is that it’s so much quicker than my XS Max and the screen and the camera blew me away.

I’m so glad I upgraded. It was definitely worth it!
Agreed, much quicker than the XS Max. Not played with the camera too much yet. That's next on the list. Today however is the day to wipe the XS Max and package it ready to send to music Magpie in the morning.

Baltic Blue and Pacific Blue Max?
That's the combo I went for.

Correct. The monthly is a recurring payment. Cancel anytime.

I need to trade in my xs max but sending it off to places worries me a little that they might say it’s not in great condition once it arrives even though it’s in immaculate condition when I sent it off. Have you used music magpie before?
Just wondering what the best way is to go about it.

I used music magpie this year.
The XR was in worse condition than I thought when removed from the case, including a small crack in the back glass.
They still paid out their top tier price for it, but remember not everybody gets the same experience from the same place.

Sorry if this is a silly question but with all this talk of esims, I currently have 2 phones, 1 work phone and 1 personal phone.

If I were to put them both into my 12pm how do things like WhatsApp work? Are you able to choose which line to use when you open the app up? And how easy is it when you make a call to choose which line to call from?

When it launched, my local EE store ended up killing my physical SIM card and the scanning of the eSIM QR code failed, so I was without anything.
That’s exactly what happened to me on Friday. Even though my QR code got scanned and plan added. Sim got swapped but EE system couldn’t activate it and i lost my physical sim too.

Ive been using O2 (physical sim) and EE (eSim) on XS and 11 Pro in past and never had an issue sim swapping etc.

And how easy is it when you make a call to choose which line to call from
You set a primary phone number and any calls you make will be from this number. If you want to use your secondary number you can change it in contacts and any time you call that number it will be from the secondary number until you change it again, if that makes sense.

Making a call is easy and you can assign a line to a contact or it assigns the line to a contact depending if they call you. If they call you on line 1 then they will get updated to use line 1, etc...

No WhatsApp is a different matter. The way I got round this is download WhatsApp business app as well as the normal app. Log the business app in with whichever number you want and the same for the standard app. Both work nicely next to each other.

I transferred my eSIM over this morning and all good working. My main problem is I never know which number needs to be entered online to activate it. To include or exclude the numbers in the brackets. Anyway I chose to exclude and it worked almost immediately

iOS does support eSIM transfer between iPhones without any QR codes, but as far as I’m aware none of the UK networks has embraced that option.
I think only then will eSIM be as hassle free as physical SIM...

Same, never had a problem with ESR ones. Mine went on perfect first time. Love that it covers the whole screen including the notch, 3 in a pack so even managed to install them on two of my colleagues new phones for them 😁
