I've had no end of EE eSIM issues, but the lure of being able to carry just one phone for personal and work use remains too strong.
I've been using eSIM since it first launched on the XS series of phones when it was probably a bit premature - you could only do calls and SMS back then and you couldn't switch off the second line! Thankfully an iOS update fixed this a few months later.
When it launched, my local EE store ended up killing my physical SIM card and the scanning of the eSIM QR code failed, so I was without anything. Reverted back to a physical SIM card a few hours later, but returned to eSIM a week or two later once EE got a better handle of what they were doing.
When the 11 Pro launched, a different EE store wasn't paying attention with what they were doing and ended up killing my main number on eSIM, and some how migrated the eSIM number in my Apple Watch cellular to the 11 Pro Max... Took a couple of days to resolve, but got some credit back for both my personal number and my Apple Watch cellular plan.
I'm now in a position where my local Apple store has stock of 12 Pro Max for collection - a sudden discovery, but I can't get a replacement EE eSIM quickly enough. Potentially Tuesday at earliest if I order one online now.
If you can find one, the Hong Kong dual SIM iPhones are the ones to get as they can actually support 2x physical SIM cards. All the benefit of dual SIM but with none of the faff - just enable SIM PIN for similar security to eSIM.
