Anyone else think the Apple Leather Case feels cheap and a bit like plastic? I’m not sure it’s worth the money...
Of course it is, a total rip off, mass produced money making racket, tell me how a HoneHub mini which includes a 20w charging block supposedly worth £19, that has all the technology, chip and material in it, although plastic, sells for £99, take away the included charging block with an RRP of £19 and that is £21 more than the RRP of the case at £59. Oh! And thet realised the MagSafe charger burns a ring mark on the wallet so speedily added a photo of that in their marketing to make it look normal, it’s now the last photo, you literally can’t make this stiff up but Apple do and laugh all the way to the bank.

Now start looking at the MagSafe charger that doesn’t work unless you buy the charging block for £19, then the utterly daft wallet that w attaches to your phone and totally destroys its aesthetics like a huge wart for £59, then if your phone gets stolen from your handbag or wherever your credit cards go with it. Totally and utterly daft, BUT clever way of getting people to part with their money 👍

Last time I checked no one was forced to buy accessories from Apple?! Apple can afford to make the HomePod mini the price it is because they are desperate to get more of them in peoples homes, they’re playing catch up if the first one had been a massive success then these would have been more money, if even made at all.

Apple genuine leather cases are still the longest lasting, best feeling cases I’ve ever used. They’ve increased in price by a small amount or you could have got them from Amazon for the same price they always were before. Find me other leather cases that are much cheaper with decent quality? There’s not many, unless you count the horrible plastic or silicone frame ones with leather just on the rear.

MagSafe I’m not bothered about, as I just use the old 5W charger I always have done overnight, and never had a single phone drop below 100% health apart from a well used iPhone SE (original) on 98%.
If you clip any magnet onto a case, it will leave marks over time. Apple are simply displaying that fact to cover themselves from people who fail to grasp that concept.

The card analogy also doesn’t hold up, people have been using card cases for years. This isn’t a new idea thought up by Apple, they’ve simply made an option for people who wanted it. The volume of sales suggest people did want it.

Spot on.

Now my order has disappeared completely from the Apple Store app and the tracking link in the email now goes to an error page urgh
Mine did that earlier. I’ve seen this happen, it should come back. It did for mine. My tracking page just says “order not within carrier network, check again later.”

I was replying to a question and gave my view, it doesn’t change, as for a wallet case yes we all know that but at least you know where your cards are, with a week magnetic wallet that has to removed to charge it, put it in your car or in your skinny jeans is laughable, why spoil the superbly designed phone, or even the Apple case you rave about with that big wart of a wallet that has limited functionality, madness, but there will always be some mugs. Now where did I put my wallet when I took it off to charge my phone, I wonder if I put it with my other wallet? 😂

Wear jeans that are meant for men then...
Why does it have to be removed to put it in your car??? It doesn’t.

And a lot of people don’t use it for credit cards, they’ve got Apple Pay, but for an ID card for work and maybe an access card, there’s no need for a regular wallet. And if you take the wallet off to charge it would be right next to your phone, why would it be anywhere else?! Where as a regular wallet gets put down all over the place.

By your logic of Apple stuff being over priced, which it isn’t IMO, why did you even buy the phone? Surely that’s a “rip off” as you seem to claim about most things Apple launched.

Different people like and have use for different things, and that’s okay. Does not mean something is rubbish because you don’t like it or think it’s expensive.

I think the wallet is a niche product that will suit some but not all. Buying it and trying to make it suit, is not the way to go.

However for some, such as myself, it’s great. I have been looking at compact wallets for a while as my full size wallet contains lots of cards I never use. I always default back to my bank card, credit card and once in a while my drivers license. Everything else I need is stored on the phone either via an app or the digital wallet. So the Apple leather wallet is perfect. I will treat it as a separate entity however it has the added bonus of being able to attach to the phone, should I need it to.

I realise I’ll be in the minority but that’s why I think it’s a niche product. It’ll suit less people than it doesn’t. That doesn’t make it a bad product IMHO rather one that should only be purchased if it holds some value - rather than buying it and trying to give it value.

What you seem to have failed to mention is that no one is forced to buy any of these products. If someone likes a particular product and finds practical use in it they can buy if not they don’t have to buy it. We get it you have an issue with all these new products but obviously there are people out there who don’t. Which begs the question why would you buy an iPhone when you can get a cheaper Android phone with more features. 🤔

So do we think the Silicone case or better than the leather? My wife has one and it feels great but would worry about the wear of it over time

Nice! I’m still waiting for it to move from preparing 🥺. Did you get an email when it moved to shipping?
Yeah got an email about my trade in and delivery this morning. Just got a text from DPD too ... delivery and tracking tomorrow 🙌

Couriers tend to recycle their tracking numbers. I’ve seen that happen before. That tracking number should be associated with your order at some point.

Yes I've now had notification from DPD app that they will deliver my iPhone on Tuesday. When I ordered my phone on the morning of the 7th the estimated delivery was 24th November to 1st December so they were spot on.

I have been with Apple from the start, I have most of their products mainly because of the quality, engineering and design BUT recently they have gone haywire with daft ideas, where is the wireless charging pad I was waiting for, why are they so late at embracing some technology, because they want to trap you in their eco system and I am that trapped person. My kids choose my phone, after a year it goes down through the family, big kid to little kid to grandma to grandpa so 5 people benefit, I live with my iPad, I bought the new 12.9” Pro with magic keyboard, it’s fantastic, I rarely look at my phone it’s only there for when I’m out and about, it’s the kids that use them, I rarely use my Apple Watch but it does store useful data, as for iMacs, MacBooks and iPads we all have one of each, have maybe 30, we don’t sell stuff so it builds up as we update, time for a clear out I think 👍

I have been around longer enough to remember the good old days before all the marketing rubbish, I get what suits my needs and I don’t care if it has an Apple on it or not, but as I said some Apple stuff is great and the integration between devices is brilliant, it’s just a shame there is some much better technology and gadgetry out there now that Apple make difficult to connect with.

You will start to see corners go shiny, just Google about them, none are good value, when you have seen and smelt premium leather it makes these look like plastic, and trust me I have hundreds of cases from current and previous Apple phones, Apple and 3rd party. The best case I ever had that was just stunning was the Nodus collection, I have ordered one for my 12 Pro Max.
