I managed to order as soon as the Apple Store app let me (which was 1:05pm ish I thnk). I had saved my pre-order and was able to submit it.
I then got a confirmation email from Apple, but I was unable to check the status of my order in the app (it kept hanging and crashing) and, more worringly, the app kept saying I'd got a saved pre-order. Even though I'd just submitted one!
It's telling me it'll arrive next Friday and that it's preparing to ship, but I guess we'll see. Must admit I was surprised Apple didn't seem to be able to cope with the strain, when I doubt it was *that* high.

Relax dude. It will be stuck in this status until tue/wed
You have days to sort out payment. It happens all the time and can be easily dealt with.

Didn't get into the store until around 1.10 and then the store timed out as I was entering gift card pins.
Got my confirmation at 13.13 with a delivery estimate of 27 Sep - 2 Oct
Probably a bad time to use gift cards and not apple pay. Last year I got into the store almost immediately and checked out within a minute.
I’m getting mine from o2 but my girlfriend went in the Apple Store today and the guy said to her to check a day before launch because stores might be allocated a certain amount of extra stock. Not sure how true that is but worth a try
I'm being told I need to update my payment but I can't. And even if I do manage to pay then i'm probably not going to get release day which is what I had because i ordered at 13:06.
If people are getting shipping notifications then i've no chance now.

EE have had a mare today. I thought given their systems being down would at least get phone on launch.
Is preparing to ship only for home delivery and not for pickup at store?

In store pick up you won't see any movement until Thursday I believe when it basically sends you a reminder to turn up and pick it up

already got through at 50 minutes but the guy was totally not helpful at all. just told me to wait because it'll sort itself out. told him i got an email saying i had to update payment info and that others had called and paid over the phone but he didn't care.
if i don't get help this time i'm cancelling both my pro max and watch 9 orders. £1830 i'll keep to myself! apple can go whistle.
