It doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere in the more user-accessible descriptions, at least I couldn't find it, but it is in the terms and conditions...

Tech is defined in the definitions as ...

Thanks! You'd think it would be in the email along with the posting instructions wouldn't you? I'm a bit concerned that i'm using a price from a saved order though - have people been having issues with them?

I’m also wondering about chargers. My car is USB-A. Do Apple sell a USB-A to USB-C cable? I somehow doubt it. 😅

So need to get that sorted by Friday. I’ve always dreamt of wireless CarPlay but scared the adaptors aren’t reliable/have too much latency.

I’d love wireless CarPlay too but still can’t find a wireless adapter I trust…

You often see 9to5 or similar post articles like “here’s a reliable one” then see it’s an affiliate post which immediately draws cynicism.

I’m surprised Apple don’t do an A to C cable for CarPlay users now we are in the new era.

I agree it's surprising it's not stated more clearly. I'm also getting the impression from this thread that there are definite problems with saved orders.

Too late now of course but in future I think the best strategy is to click the sell button - i.e. place a firm order - before the Apple launch event as long as you are pretty confident that you will be able get your new phone within the 21 days.

If the worst comes to the worst you can always let the 21 day term laps which then triggers a revaluation which you then have 14 days to accept or decline (as defined in section 16 of the Ts & Cs) so you can get out of having to complete the transaction if you find a better price.

I have two trade in quotes:

MM - £695 (incl £35 kiosk fee)
UR - £771

Benefits of MM are I’ve used them before and using kiosk means I don’t have to wait for a decision or payment. Cons are lower quote, lowered further by the £35 fee, plus multiple reports of them being shady this year.

Benefits of UR are the higher quote, with the cons being I’ve never used them and have to send the device off and they could not honour the price for whatever reason (device has very minor wear and tear).

Does anyone have any advice for me? 🥹

Sorry for hijacking this as i am going to use the kiosk for the first time next week. What’s all this BS about fees according to the terms & conditions on the mm site, you lock your price in & you take your phone to the kiosk thingy that scans your phone & no fee is involved am i being stupid here? as if there is a fee you should all complain to mm as says there isn’t.

again apologies if im missing something

With our SMARTDrop Kiosk, you don't have to wait around for payment. Just take your Phone to the kiosk and we'll pay for it as soon as our expert technicians have finished grading it!

It's super easy to use!

Simply tell us what you want to sell and lock in your price using our website, then head to your nearest kiosk and follow the instructions on screen! No hassle, no fees and no waiting around!

Don’t be sorry, you’re not hijacking anything! ☺️

Unfortunately for me and others, the original quote (£730) was slashed to £695 to include a “kiosk fee”.

This is new this year, and the fee appears to vary by device. I’ve seen lower fees but I think I may have seen a higher one than mine. Sucks.

Did you already check out with them? If so and you had no fee, you may have been lucky!
Same situation for me. I have minor wear and tear too.
I guess if we want the reassurance of same day payment and can take the price hit, we can try the kiosk, if they reject or downgrade we can walk away with the phone and send to UR?

I had some suspicions this might be something to do with 14 Pro series battery health, maybe making them more lossy for the recycling people. Or they’re just being greedy 🤷🏼‍♂️

So I’ve just checked out with my order on Music Magpie that I saved a few weeks ago, and the price is still the same at £640, so it didn’t drop for me which is nice.

Assuming this now means they need to receive the phone within 21 days from today?

Silly question but can you use the official Apple charger that came with my 13 Pro Max for the new 15 Pro's?
Apple haven’t supplied chargers with phones from the iPhone 12 onwards. Do you mean a charger you bought at the same time as your 13PM? If so, yes you can us that

That’s not USB-A to C though. (Unless you’re referring to another post!)
I’m pretty sure the iPad Air from 2020 onwards has the USB-C charger both ends the plug bit and the insert on the actual iPad I will check it later it’s gathering dust somewhere as I rarely use it lol

Apple kindly shipped the plugs in with the iPads in the box from 2020 unlike the iPhones

I've been using one for 3 years, they work without issue. I have CarLink Kit 2 although the newest is 5.

I have two, so I can take one on holiday if we hire a car!

I've got this one and it's great.

I'm in same boat. £800 with MM and £799 with UR. Don't know what to do?
