Which 15 Pro are you getting?

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion but, I got my FineWoven case this morning and I really like it. I think it’ll look and feel great with my 15PM on Friday.
just felt a bit cheap in hand.. scratch vinyl feeling... those (maybe clickbait) reviews showed that they scratch and mark relatively easily. Going to see what reviews come out today for them.

I'll try it on the phone Friday and then decide.

FYI I think 1 or 2 releases ago loads of people upgraded to earlier delivery but DPD had so many iPhone's they missed the early deliveries and people had to claim the £5 delivery back from DPD.
yep!

pretty sure Apple DPD orders don't even give you the upgrade option now. Others, who had deliveries from currys and the like, did

you can but you'll be about ~£200 worse off than doing it yourself.

with IUP, after 11 months you can upgrade by handing the phone back to apple and then starting the whole process again on the new phone. Apple will clear off the Barclays loan etc.

in reality you might have say £700 left on the Barclays loan.. if you sold/traded in the phone you will get more than the remaining.. say £800 (what I got for my 14PM). so you could sell the phone and pay off the remaining balance yourself, in theory saving £100.

Also, with IUP you have to take out Apple care... again with you hand the phone back to Apple, they will just close down the cover. If you sold your phone youself and paid off the loan, you call apple and cancel the apple care cover (you'll usually have 50% of the cover remaining) and they give you the money back for that portion.. (again, I got £130 back for mine yesterday.)

so by not just handing the phone back to apple and doing a little work yourself, you can be a few hundred pounds better off!

also, IUP doesn't guarantee release date stock.. you still have to pre-order like everyone else.

this was the process I followed with IUP came out but now for the last few years Apple offer 0% as well, that's what I use and follow the same principle.

also, this way.. if you're inclined to not use apple care, you don't have to buy it.
Ohhhh ok thanks for that info!

So would it just be a case of reserving and at the time of reserving doing it online with Barclays or is this something you do when you go in store to collect?

I’ve only ever just brought the phone outright so never do any of this stuff before

with IUP to have to do in store.

with the standard Barclay 0%, you can do online and get delivered.

if you're looking to get a phone for walk in, yes, just reserve and collect as usual. You can decide on payment option when you pick up.

just looked at what UR are selling all our phones at which we've traded in recently.

so a 'premium' quality refurbished 14PM 256G is going for £899. Given I got £799 for it trading in (and could have been up to £850 if I acted a week or so earlier).. its not a huge mark up there

people who have bought the Armorite this year... are you going to use the little camera lens covers too?
I don't think I'm going to use my camera lens cover. The lens glass is tough, I've never scratched it, even after dropping an iPhone. So for me, the covers are overkill.

I'm even questioning does the screen really need the Armorite protector these days.

Tempted to go fully naked with just Apple care, oo-er, and see how the 15 holds up.

I usually buy the Armorite (and may still do if I don't like the Spigen), but I did wonder how much use the camera lense covers would be this year, given that Apple have just applied a special coating to the (I assume) lense glass to limit the light orbs in photographs...

It would be interesting to know if the additional lense covers make this better or worse.

I'm tempted to do the same... I don't know if I have the strength to do it.

Case ordered.
Magsafe compatible case with raised edges and camera cover for £12.

I am chuffed.

I used Armorite for years as the Ceramic Shield is more prone to scratches- the trade off for being more shatter proof - but I would not use camera lens protectors.
This year I went for the Benks screen protector to go along with my Armor Air case.

Doubt it, I used some briefly on my 14PM and noticed after a few months I would get really bad haze/blooming effect off bright light sources in dark scenes. Soon realized it was the lens protectors and never touched them since. The sapphire glass is pretty tough anyway.

I’ve got a cheap case and will gain confidence to use caseless. Express replacement through apple care is fantastic

given that the selling price will have to include vat, then they might be making a loss.

£899 = £749.17 ex vat

thanks all.. just checking I wasn't the only one who was going to bin them!

never had an issue with the lens scratching etc.. even though it probably more contact with a surface than the front screen
Had one lens scratch once - when it fell out of my hand onto the concrete surface outside my office.
Even then it didn't show on photos for what its worth (maybe a half decent photographer could have seen the difference, I'm below n00b status).

If I was going to use a lens protector, I'd probably get one of those cases with the sliding cover rather than permanent covers.
