Only ordered today as I wanted to see then in store first.

Ordered the 15PM and current delivery date is 24 Oct - 31 Oct.

From experience, is that a realistic date or is there a chance I may get it earlier?

Thanks
Via the Apple reservations website. Check stock daily / frequently to get a device sooner than shipping dates :)

I wouldn’t post video of the driver for his privacy but below is the package I got:

No reason for me to make it up. Just thought I’d share my horrible experience.

Also the place that has stock is a AO subsidiary not AO.com, mobile phones direct. Anyone have good experience with them?
I know I wouldn't order from Amazon but that's terrible! Some terrible earbuds and RAM? Surely must of been a warehouse worker who did that...

I haven't ordered from AO.com/MPD but I'd definitely trust them more than Amazon if you're not near an Apple Store and can try and get one that way.

Normally stay clear of Amazon for big items but had £300+ gift cards to so took a chance.

I have an Apple shop not too far away (10 miles) but the stock situation is dire it seems.

I may try that 6am thing that people are suggesting. I would prefer to pick up from Apple to be fair, the Ultra 2 experience was spot on from the Apple Store.

Interesting to read various horror stories of peoples MM kiosk experiences.

This year was my first time using them. Went to my local (25 mins away) one Friday evening (7pm) but both tries, there was no operator so gave up and went home.

Went back Saturday lunch time and it was much better. I locked in a quote of £470 after Kiosk fee for my wife’s 13 Pro on 10th Sept. Declared it at the best condition option but it wasn’t - scratched screen, scratched bezels and probable slight water damage as she had one night a few weeks ago where she couldn’t charge her phone until it was dry. Don’t get me wrong, the phone wasn’t a wreck but you could tell it’d be used and knocked about. Chanced it expecting to be knocked down (I locked in a quote at the next condition level down too in case the offer was lower than that) but they accepted and paid out the £470, straight away. Took about five mins total.

Put my 14 Pro in which was immaculate, as if it was new straight out the box. Not a mark on it. Locked in a price if £620 after kiosk fees on 10th Sept. First try, no operator even tho I’d done my wife’s minutes before. Pressed ‘Try again’. Within 30 seconds, downgraded the condition and offered (from memory) £437. No chance was I accepting. Declined and took phone back. Tried again, straight after with same order number and within a minute, condition checked out as declared and they agreed sale of £620. Lovely.

Money for phones in my account by the time I got home.

I think there’s definitely an element of them playing a game and hoping people will just accept lower offers but it’s easy enough to decline and just try again.

I’ll definitely use them again in future to save the hassle of trying to sell private.

Always take a microfibre cloth, if they revise/reduce their offer, decline and try again before walking away and despite them saying they’re open till 10pm, try to go in normal working hours.

Wow. That is awful.

Wonder if a warehouse worker nabbed the phone for himself and just chucked a load of random crap in the box so the shipment went out.

My Mobile Phones Direct order which was saying delivery tomorrow has been stuck at pending - no way it’s coming tomorrow. The order status page says…

Awaiting Stock

We've successfully completed the network and security checks, however the demand for this handset has been higher than we expected and stock availability is extremely low. Your estimated delivery date is detailed in your delivery information, if we anticipate this date to change we will let you know via email.

So I’m going to guess they’ve been selling stock they don’t have. I guess I’ll need to cancel tomorrow.

From experience, it's normally a few days before the start of your delivery range slot. So in your case, it's likely you'll receive it before the 24 Oct.

Out of curiosity as I've never done this before

If I traded my 14P into Apple, I could then get the 15P at something like £23 p/m via Barclays

What would happen then in 12 months time if I wanted to get the 16P, as I don't own the phone, would the trade in cost go to Barclays and I pay off what left and then start again on a 2 year deal presumably at £45 a month?

You would be responsible for clearing the finance on the 15 with Barclays, but could sell after you got the 16P. I have moved my current phone on previous post getting the new and no issues arose. So in theory, yes, you can trade to reduce cost of next phone again and keep paying current, but there isnt a part payment approach that allows you to clear Barclays and pay rest to reduce new phone if that helps.

Glad it worked out for you. No way I’d ever use Music Magpie again though. From what I’ve read and experienced they’re using various techniques to offer lower prices than those offered.

Ultimately, they’re a business and can offer what they want. Customers can walk away. But I just don’t like their approach of offering significantly lower amounts at the point of sale and hoping people will accept.

I’d rather sell for less elsewhere than support such practices.

So over all after a few days use phone very fast action button good. But really it’s just like IPhone 14 pro. Once usb c is out and phone in a case you can’t tell what it’s made of or what charges it. Seems next year will be big upgrade.

How I did it last year was put my current phone in for part exchange against new, Apple take CC details to get money if you don’t send but payments monthly are lower. I then sold my iPhone, paid of Barclays and used the leftover to pay a portion of my CC bill when Apple took the money.

Use it without a case at home? Might feel the difference a bit more? Ultimately though, an iPhone is going to feel like an iPhone. Personally, that’s a good thing IMO.

Yes I mean I can’t really tell the difference in material but I went for the space black colour twice many went for the lighter colour. I have seen many say it’s less durable on social media.

I get ya.

I see it from their side as well. They offer a unique service with those kiosks so business side of things, why not try your luck?

They’ll prob know that they will get people that think “ah, I’ll just take it, can’t be arsed with messing around” and they know they’ll get people like me who’ll just decline and try again

You do own the phone from the moment you receive it: you're not "renting" the phone, a loan doesn't work like that.

What would happen in your case is that you could trade in the phone after this year and you'd get a credit for the value of it off your new phone but clearly you'd then be paying Barclays twice. I highly doubt they check this but I suppose technically you should pay off the loan before you trade the phone in - although if you kept paying monthly (twice) I can't see why they'd care.

I have had two overlapping loans this year, where I had a loan I took out last year and I've got one I've started this year and they both went through no trouble. I've now settled the first one but I could have had them running concurrently if I wanted.

I really want to love the FineWoven case as I think it feels great, really grippy and feels protective whilst not being too thick - also I don't know if anyone noticed but the case finally goes round the screen properly rather than leaving some of the metal on display like the leather cases used to - but the back feels like it will look terrible if I breathe on it.
