Believe it or not... I’ve still not opened any of my goodies from yesterday... manic old day from the start, finally some peace to go through it all :)
I didn't open mine until this morning. Hope your set up is a bit smoother than mine. iTunes didn't recognise my device for quite a while. Had to speak to apple to get it sorted.
Still having an issue with iMessage and my wife's iPad. Back on the blower tomorrow.

I decided to go have a look today at the new iPhones at the Apple Store while I was out and about, and so these are my impressions of mainly the Max. After 20-25 mins of using the Max and then going back to my 8 Plus it felt ancient. Otherwise, it was really nice, although I did notice the display didn’t seem to be as vibrant or as good to look at vs the regular Xs next to me. I compared both displays and nothing was obviously wrong or bad with the Max display, but it just wasn’t as good to look at. Also, I really wish the YouTube app would be installed on instore units so I could sample HDR video on the devices.

I really felt like the Max was a good size but CC is definitely difficult to reach with one hand and so I enabled reachability which helped but wasn’t amazing. That’s the only issue I had in regards to the size of the device.

The gold colour is weird. I liked it but very difficult to nail down what exact shade, etc it is based on as its always seemingly changing with light, etc.

Overall thoughts are that I really liked it, and is definitely the natural step up from my 8 Plus for when I do go for a new device in November. Don’t really want to downsize to the regular Xs although it does fit in the hand really nicely.

Had great fun this evening (still am). Forgot how nice it is to set up a new iPhone as a new device, getting rid of apps not used for a while, reorganising the home screen, placing apps into folders and renaming them. Much better than just restoring from iCloud backup. When I did that yesterday it was just like holding a bigger version of my X. Now it feels like a completely new device. The only pain is logging into stuff and remembering passwords. If you know those then setting up as a new iPhone is much nicer. May take longer but is fun to do.

Missus thinks I’m being paranoid but I’ve noticed these two little marks on the bottom edge of the phone. The right most one can be clearly felt ( like a nick ) when running your finger along the bottom edge.

Assuming they are chips in the glass I’d be returning that I’m afraid. Can you use the magnifier on your old phone (or an actual magnifier) to get a closer look? Will they polish off (maybe some factory debris stuck to the screen)?

Yeah defo taking it back. The left hand side feels like glue between the glass and seal. The right hand side is a nick on the steel.

Guess I’ll be up at 6am to see if they’ve got stock!

I'm always unsure how AppleCare works. I thought they wouldn't exchange the phone if it still works? Like if you drop it and it gets all scratched, as long as it's still working they won't exchange it...
They won’t exchange it for purely cosmet reasons, dings and scratches etc. But if the front or back glass cracks then they will change it because the water proofing is compromised.

I *accidentally* bought a 44mm S4 watch yesterday. Worried it’s too big, but the 38mm has always felt too small. Does the 14 day refund policy apply on watches even though the straps could show wear at that point? Really don’t want to take the p*ss but really not sure and the 40mm is unavailable everywhere.

It worked on checkout but was not applied to my bill. When they said they would apply afterwards they advised the code had expired.

That’s a disgrace! False advertising so you have every right to complain and have that reinstated. I thought it was some sort of employee discount or scheme so surprised they’re saying that...

Nice one... Mine (24-1) is still on preparing.... but I also know that could change anytime to dispatch and probably be here the day after.
