Good to see this thread pick up again at the Xr gets closer!

I'll be hopefully sticking around until the XR launch. My wife originally wanted an XS but baulked at the pricing when the rumours of a $100/£100 price drop didn't happen. She's like the many of us where 64GB is too little and 256GB is too much, so feels the XR would be ideally placed for her. She's liking the look of the white, but is also partial to the red.

We're probably looking at the iPhone Payments plan for her, but the only complication is pre-order day is the day after our baby is due... We're both hoping they're 2 weeks late like everybody keeps telling us with the first born!

My first was 4 days late and my second was 6 days late. Good luck and I hope your little one comes at the right time!

Thank you!

We're very much an Apple household and I've been using Macs since before the iPod days. The wee one has hopefully inherited my love of gadgets and gizmos - they got very excited during the XS and XR keynote presentation!

Always drag out the first time! You’ll have plenty of time to order. The us get to use Siri shortcuts as they can pre approve

Come on, if you can take the time to find a thread and post on here, you can find the time to ring Applecare. ;)

Well seeing as no one can hear me cause of some weird glitch/bug not sure a phone call is best option.

Will go apple store lol.

Good old DPD got here earlier than the scheduled slot which was nice. Had a few errands to attend to and have spent parts of the afternoon/evening getting it all sorted.

What can I say that hasn’t been said before. This phone is a thing of beauty. Absolute powerhouse in terms of speed and multitasking.

Face ID is just amazing. Touch ID already a distant memory.

Had a bit of fun with the Memoji which I’ll happily admit is awesome.

Will give the camera a workout over the weekend but can imagine I’ll be equally be pleased with the results as I am with the phone.

Can anyone recommend a stand type wireless charger?

So many to choose from on Amazon that i will probably end up missing a really good one.

I have the following from Anker on Amazon: Wireless Charger, Anker Qi-Certified PowerPort Wireless 5 Stand Wireless Charger, Optimized for iPhone XS / XS Max / XR, iPhone 8 / 8 Plus, iPhone X, also for use with Galaxy Note 5, S9/S9+/S7/S7 edge/S6/S6 edge/S6 edge+, Nexus 4/5/6/7, LG G3 and Other Devices

It sits on my desk at work and I've had no issue with it. There are 2x coils inside the backplate, so it charges the iPhone in both portrait and landscape orientation. It's only 5W, so not the fastest but I just plonk the phone down when I'm sat at my desk and pick it up again when I need to walk around, so it's always topped up and have no need for the faster 7.5W version (more expensive and has a fan, I think). Because the phone is standing up, I can simply tap to wake it up to scan my face and I'm in (you may need to position it closer).

Downsides: needs a charger block that's more powerful than the stock iPhone 5W charger (something at least 10W will do nicely). It also only comes with a very short micro USB cable, so you'll probably need something around 2m for more placement flexibility.

Why does it need a 10w charger if if only outputs 5w?

There's a lot of waste in wireless charging - much of it being heat. You need a beefier charger block to compensate for that waste.

You could plug a 5W block up to it, but it will be very, very slow - probably more like 2W or 3W in real terms.
Thanks for the explanation.

Have you by any chance 'acquired' media (music/apps) outside of iTunes etc? Pretty sure this can trigger the message.
