A few hiccups earlier though; App Store app lost my shipping & billing addresses, the app was slow on the iPad but snappy on the X. I had to key in the details to complete the order

Same thing with me. I even checked the night before the all the addresses were correct.

This is the first time I’ve preordered via my iMac as for some reason the Apple store app doesn’t allow for PayPal payment but it worked fine thank the lord

How good is the Belkin InvisiGlass screen protector?

Apple wants £30 and ive always bought the Spigen one from Amazon for around £10 and its been perfect. Ive had it on my 7 Plus for over a year, but cant find the XS Max ones yet.

Everyone that has difficulties with their account on Apple webpage... Calm down... :) Happens every year and it will sort out itself over the weekend.
Even confirmation emails sometimes take a little while... You are good when the order went through - trust me!
I have pre-ordered multiple iPhone (possibly for the last 5 or 6 years, plus Apple watches) and never had an issue.

Delivery dates that are after release day, might change as well and you might get your device quicker than initially stated. There are tons of people that ordered multiple devices and will cancel them, payments dont go through etc.

What I would advise: If you pay by Card you may want to call your bank and let them now about the upcoming transactions. Especially when you havent done this before, or use a new card.

Enjoy the waiting time, which isn't too long actually, but it is always fun here

Need some advice from all of you seasoned 'pre-orderers'....

Just ordered Max 256Gb and SS Watch. Did as separate orders at around 8.05, both being delivered on 21st.

Realised that i hadn't added AppleCare to my Watch order, so did another order at about 8.20 which still gave 21st delivery (as shown on my email confirmation). Moments later though I noticed the delivery date slipped for that model to October.

Anyone ever experienced Apple missing the delivery date given on the order? Is my 2nd order at any risk given it was placed 15 minutes later?

My options are...
1. Cancel first order
2. Cancel later order and add AppleCare separately post delivery
3. Wait a few days just to check dates don't change and then cancel initial order

Thoughts??

Thanks!!

Separately - assume it not just me for whom orders are not showing up on Apple `store orders page? Think remember from prior years it can take a while to settle down.

You can add Apple Care weeks after your purchase... You are golden. Just cancel the 2nd order.

Also anyone found any decent screen protectors for the XS Max? I like the Spigen ones but cant find them yet.

When I collected my 8 Plus from my local Apple Store last year, they applied a glass screen protector to it using their in store applicator machine. It's been on there ever since and has protected my screen for the past year...

All set for the 21.

Congratulations to everyone that got an order through this morning .

...that Cape Cod blue case looks very similar to last year's Cosmos Blue leather cases - wonder if they are indeed the same colours?

...what time is your pickup slot as I'm also at Bromley!?! We'll have to hold up placards with our names, so we can recognise each other!!!!!:p:D

Mine is 09:00 to 09:30 but I'll probably get there as soon as the store opens as last time, I was seen way before my reservation slot!

...yep, Apple Store App is the way to go!!!
haha indeed.

did mine lunch time as I need to do the school run on fridays

im sure you could take it on the 21st, but you could be waiting for delivery all day so you might not make it. I didn't open mine and took it straight in to Apple to swap.

my X was delivered the week after launch so things were quite in store then

Ive upgraded using the Iphone upgrade plan. Does that mean that I effectively lose a years worth of apple care and have to start it again?
you've not lost it as you've not actually paid for it.. only the 11 or so months worth you've paid up till now
[doublepost=1536915138][/doublepost]
The X didn't sell out straight away either, did it?
oh it did.. I couldn't even open the app and got into the store at 8.08 and delivery had slipped to 1-2 weeks

I think the cosmos case has a bit more green to it compared to the cape cod, looks like a lighter shade of blue.

I will take a pic comparing the two when the cape cod comes in.

Agreed I don’t like the 24 month tie.

I will try for the iUP this year I think.

Anyone know when they’ll open up Saturday reservations? That would suit me better than Friday
the usually do that the day following release, so Saturday 22nd.. you have the 6am fun of store reservations via the app

For the first time ever I've not bought on launch day. Feels like very marginal upgrade but would appreciate the bigger screen on the Max. Curious to see if the camera gets anywhere close to the Pixel.

I'm weighing up iUp/interest free payments against a contract. EE seems like your phone can't be unlocked for 6 months, is that right? Real shame as I travel to countries that I need a local sim. How about Vodafone, are theirs unlocked, struggling to see. Also do Vodafone offer a yearly upgrade like EE?

Any experience would be much appreciated.

Exactly why I’ve gone back to a contract this year. My new 2 year commitment with Vodafone for the XS Max means I’m paying less for my new 40GB contract than my current 20GB sim only, once you take out the £1049 phone cost. On top of that they’re giving 2 years of free Spotify.

Me too.

Just taken out an upgrade for the iPhone XS 64GB which works out at £62 a month (after Vodafone Advantage Discount). £29 upfront cost for the phone.

So thats £1488 over 24 months. Minus the £999 phone cost = £489. So roughly £20 a month for the phone tariff. And for that I get 42GB data and Spotify premium (worth £9.99 alone). My current sim only was £24. So the way I see it is that I am saving on that a little and just paying for the phone over 24 months. Happy with that.:)
