Picked up my 256GB 12.9 in store at Regent Street after finding one on Friday. Canceled my launch day order due to want to exchange a different Device. Seems a bit more snappy, maybe down to extra RAM vs 2018 model, or just my inner justification for new device!

P.S. Fit last year’s magic keyboard fine, maybe a little bit less gap near the edge compared to 2018 model. I don’t have a screen protector.
I have a tempered glass one on and it fits perfectly!

It’s the same thing, except the new one takes into account the slight thickness change. Even people on here have said the 4th gen keyboard works fine.

Edit: I think @leebroath has the new iPad and old magic keyboard?
Nope mate, I prefer Keyboards/Case which protect the device all around, I normally go for Zagg

But on this occasion I went with the Logitech for 12.9

Sounds like a bargain but does it look right? Is there not a noticeable difference? Any photos?

I now have both the 2018 and 2021 12.9 pro with last year’s Magic keyboard. If you close them and look though at a light source, both iPad have a tiny gap between the keyboard and screen at the hinge side, the keyboard only touches the screen at the other side (volume keys). you can see just a bit more light with the older iPad than the new one, but there is no issue with closing and strength of magnet when the new iPad is fixed to the keyboard.

I would save money and buy the last year’s model unless you want the white colour.

P.S. I asked multiple staff at Apple store today, they all confrimed the older magic keyboard works fine with the 2021 iPad Pro 12.9.

Thanks for that detailed answer. Handy info.

Same here. Just bought the SG iPad M1 12.9” 256GB from John Lewis and the earlier gen Magic Keyboard - perfect fit. Works well with the matte skin protector on as well. Definitely worth the extra saving.

Yes, much as I’d like the white MKB, for a £80 saving, it’s a no-brainier. I really don’t use the keyboard enough to justify full whack.

A screen protector is probably essential though as the screen and keyboard will rub and if a bit of grit is there, the unthinkable might happen

Excellent. How long do you have to wait?

You won’t be disappointed.
My quoted time is 2nd-16th June. I'm hoping that it will be the earlier date.

I'm upgrading from my current 2017 iPad Pro and first gen Apple pencil, they are being passed down to my mother.

I upgraded from a 2016 9,7” iPad Pro which I’ve sold to Music Magpie. Massive difference. It’s amazing!

My Apple Pencil generation 1, which I haven’t used for about 3 years appears to be dead. Apparently this is a common problem if they are left uncharged; it kills the tiny battery in them. I was going to sell it on eBay as it’s obviously not compatible with the iPP M1, but I’ll have to sell it for spares / repairs now. Oh well. ?

Hopefully Apple will be true to form and get your iPP M1 to you sooner rather than later.

I haven't had that issue, i use my Apple Pencil daily! i love to draw, take notes and even in some apps like colouring. I'm one of those people that likes to have pencil in their hand when thinking, so it gets used a lot.

I'm hoping my iPad arrives around the earlier estimate. The one thing i have noticed is how heavy the Magic Keyboard is. When the delivery guy handed it to me, i was surprised by it's weight. That's a good thing tho, when paying £329 for a keyboard, it needs to be a quality one.

After a year of using the Magic Keyboard, there are no marks on the screen of my 2018 iPad. I think this is due to the iPad don’t move against the keyboard when closed. So, even if there are grits they don‘t have the chance to scratch the screen. I might haven been lucky so far, a screen protector don’t hunt, but not a fan of the extra reflections it adds.
