Your results are similar to mine. Using LTE (not just having LTE turned on but using watch not on wifi and out of range of phone) still is a battery hog. Frustrating that many reporting here are not clear about whether using LTE or not. I returned my watch partly because I was getting less good battery life than others here (but I re-ordered :)).
I was thinking about returning my AW Ultra as well, thinking I was getting poor battery life. However, as I have gathered from this thread, my battery life is in line with others.

For another data point, I went for a 65 minute run this morning, with 100% charge. GPS, Streaming music via LTE, no iPhone, and when finished was at 85%. So in line with other posts in this thread.

Can anyone comment on if in Theatre mode the ability to spin the crown to slowly increase brightness - from zero to an increase works as with prior AW? Historically, I used theatre mode (and put on DND and APM) at night but could just spin the crown a tad the bring up the brightness of the display to see the time. Now, with the Ultra in those modes, I have to rock the crown back and forth to get it to respond at all, and then it works but that doesn’t seem to be the way it should?

Maybe the Ultra has a bit of delay or hesitancy with crown input while in those modes so as to not unnecessarily act on crown movement?

Just wondering if this is expected behavior or now.. Crown does seem to work as expected in regular modes, etc.

So here's my take on all of this Ultra battery topic. A device with a brand new battery may take a few days to a week(s) to calibrate with the software in order to maximize their charge. I noticed that my Ultra was sucking up battery in the beginning and a medium pace. After using it with its default settings, like whenever I played music on my iPhone the watch would open the watch app of the music app and act as a remote control. To me, that took up a lot of my battery issues so I turned off that feature. After a few weeks I noticed the battery started to maintain a decent charge. I'd start the day off at 100% and after using the watch for my dog walks and also 3.5 mile daily run using my Peloton app, I was down to 88% battery by the end of my day. I still use my old Apple Watch 6 as my 'sleeping watch' to track my sleep but for daytime use, I use my Ultra.

Went on an hour bike ride with display on, connected to iPhone BUT with chest strap.
Lost 6%. Thought it would be a little less bc of the chest strap.

Does anyone use a chest strap? Similar results?

I don’t have AW Ultra but just wanted to say thank you for this comment, I had no idea about this handy function! Works on my AW7.

My battery life was so so with the Ultra exclusive face. I'm guessing the altimeter and compass on the face didn't help that at all. I went back to a basic face and the battery life is fantastic.

Works that way for me. In Theater Mode, if I rotate the crown the display will turn on and will slowly increase. Also tried first putting it in Night Mode, then Theater Mode and tried spinning the crown and got the same results. Seems to be working as expected.

Just got my Ultra on Monday of this week, I fully charged it to 100% at 11:18pm, and I am at 37% now (1:37pm Wednesday). I think that is pretty good battery life so far considering Monday night I powered on, set up, did the OS Update, and it being its first battery cycle. I have been using the AOD and Wayfinder face.

Question though, If I decided to add Cellular to it, will that eat the battery quicker? I am home 95% of the time since I work from home, and never really am without my phone, so I do not even know if I need cellular for it lol

Does anyone have info on what - if any - impact night mode has on the ultra? (the reddish screen aka "spy mode")

In theory, it would probably reduce consumption. How are you proposing it be used, as the AOD all the time?

In the time I've had mine (since launch) I average somewhere around 1.25% - 1.5% burn per hour, with it going higher during workouts. I usually have the Wayfinder face on and am not actively looking at Lat / Long. At night I've been doing Night Mode + Theater Mode. Typically, after 48 hours of use, I still have 30-35% of my battery left. Cellular is not activated on my Ultra.

Today, I'm trying to see how long the battery will last while it is in Theater Mode the entire time. It has only be 5 1/2 hours since I've taken it off the charger and it's lost 4%. Too small of a sample to really know what it's going to look like after 24 or even 48 hours but it looks promising. Maybe after I've tested this I'll test with only using Night Mode .

Thanks for the info. I haven't used night mode much so was curious if anyone has tested. If the saving is measurable it'd be nice to enable it when it's dark.

I'm getting almost similar battery stats as you, a bit more draw perhaps like 40% per 24h. But I have never used cinema mode on this one and use AOD even when sleeping.

I've used theater mode and it makes a difference for sure. I've also tried night mode on AOD, but it's not as good as theater mode.

I’m 1 1/2 week into the owning of this watch and is amazing. If pairs to the iPhone I lose about 10% for each 8 hour period. I haven’t charged in over 24 hrs and I have 25% left.

Sleep tracking needs at least 30% battery to work. Battery life just depends on use. If you’re using to answer phone calls, texts, sleep tracking and half hour of workout per day, then expect around 40-42 hours.

I like the AW Ultra, but I’m on the fence if I should send it back. By the way, what is Apple Store return policy for the AW?

Return policy is same as any other apple product (for hardware). You have 14 days to return it.

I have charged my AWU a total of three times. I am assuming I am probably 1/2 way to good battery calibration. Still getting two full days until I have to charge it. As soon as the battery cycles 2 or 3 more times and I go back to work, I will be on LTE in a building with poor signal for 8 hours at a time without my phone. Will report back. I must admit I love starting my EV from my watch. People freak out lol. Knight Rider 1985 style.

I use Energy saving Mode when I am at home and normal mode when I go outside. Thanks to homeoffice it is crazy:

Last charging on Tuesday 8am to 98%
50h later (I dont wear it during night and turn it of) my battery is 51%

47% in 50h means <1%/h

2,5h workout (without GPS), 30min cellular connection

I know it is because of homeoffice but for me thats just another world when I compare it to my old series 7

Charged to 100% and took off charger Wednesday 7am.

One workout per day for 30 mins Wednesday and Thursday. No sleep tracking or mobile data. Just wifi and connected to iPhone.

Now it’s Thursday 10.30pm and it’s still 52%. So almost 50% battery usage for close to 40 hours.

I have been only charging my watch while I shower and wearing it at all other times. I charge it twice a day for 15-20 minutes and that seems to be more than enough to keep it going.
