Am i the only One going from X to XR? I really like the new colors
I wouldn't be happy at all,X is a better phone.
I upgraded from X to Xs Max but I'm missing the perfect form factor of X vs awkward bulky size of Xs max,so will return the Max and use the X.
I can't even imagive buying the Xr with low resolution screen and inferior LCD display, just one camera and less premium build and feel.

If you have used X,you will be very hard to impress with either of the new phones.
Xr is for non X owners who can't afford Xs only.

Going to disagree with you on one point. That only people who cant afford the XS get the XR. That implies the XS is always superior to the XR. I could buy a pallet of XS phones but I don't want one, I don't think its a good phone. I think the XR is the better phone.

in what way XR is superior to XS??
that's a very bizarre and completely false thing to say,the only advantage of XR to XS is lower price.
R stands for regular.

For me it's the screen type and the size. I think OLED is crap and terribly overrated, and inferior to LCD. 1)Viewing angles suck 2)Burn in is a concern - this was solved 20 years ago with LCD and 3)PWM flicker is amateur hour. For these reasons, I consider LCD to be superior technology.

OLED brings back problems humanity solved 20 years ago, and in return you get 5% "deeper blacks". I will never buy an OLED phone. Micro LED is the future.

In the meantime, the only phone I'd consider in Apples lineup is the XR.

I still don't get what it would bring to the table. I have a hard time seeing the difference between 720p and 1080p on my 47" TV...
Just because you can't see the difference doesn't mean that others can't. I don't think that's a hard concept to understand, personally.

It's basically a similar argument to stating: "I can't see the tree down the street, therefore it doesn't exist".

These arguments are all so stupid. For some people the XS is better, for some people the XR is better, THAT'S WHY THEY MAKE DIFFERENT MODELS NOW!

To each their own. I personally hate shiny metal products like the band on the iPhone Xs. I know Apple does it to try and make it look premium, but to me it looks cheap. I’d much rather have a brushed band similar to the look of stainless steel appliances.

By that standard any luxury watch would look „cheap“ in your opinion because it has a stainless steel housing?

Depends on what you want - the XR supposedly has the best battery life of any iPhone ever (1.5 more hours than 8+, versus the XS Max which is 1.5 hours more than the X, which was less than the 8+) But it also has much lower DPI, no OLED, no 3D Touch, no 50mm camera, and larger bezels.

Apple has made this year's iPhone lineup the most confusing ever. The low-end and high-end are the new designs, the low-end has the best battery, and the low-end has the "middle of the road" size.

The flip side of that is how often you will actually stream in 1080p. You may be one of those folks who never watches anything, unless it's 1080p. Good for you. But, in reality, I know many people who have 1080p capable smartphones and never utilize them to their full potential because either their plan sucks (for example, T-Mobile non-plus plan won't stream anything in 1080p) or they don't get true 1080p (even when they think they do, but that's a whole different topic).

I'm a car nut and a sucker for electronics. Some people LOOOOOOVE having the latest and greatest solely because they know it's better. For example, most people who buy high end cars will never actually hit the top speed of, say, 200 mph. But, they loooooooove knowing that the car they purchased is capable of reaching that speed.

Same goes for mobile devices. Today is more about what the device is capable of and less about how practical or applicable it is in everyday life. If you surveyed the majority of the world's population, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 720 and 1080 with high ppi's, much less give a crap about which one they end up with.

There are a butt load of features and gimmicks on the new phones that are all show and no go. I watched plenty of 1080p content on my X. Afterwards, I downgraded to the 8 and while I could tell the difference, it was so minimal, I felt like I was splitting hair.

People today acting like iPhone XR comes with a 240p display. SMH.

That’s not the case. Only one type of LCD has good viewing angles, and IPS also has the worst backlight bleed problems and contrast, that’s why TVs often use VA (which has worse viewing angles, not sure which OLED you talking about here).

You don’t only get far deeper blacks, you also don’t have a backlight so have none of those clouding issues. I will say that some OLED panels on iPhones last year had some Color shift though, but you also got iPads with glowing marks on the screen, and MBP retina with blown pixels, screen defects happen. You could say you prefer not to use a screen with PWM sure, but there’s nothing else LCD mobile has going for it except 120hz refresh on iPads.

The Xr was made to fit a certain price point. The phone isn't superior to the s models.

Ok, let's join in. LCD is trash! Makes me sick to my stomach having to suffer with the iPad Pro LCD. Oh Apple, please save us from the bleached out, light straddled, retro nonsense that is your liquid retina!

Cool story bro, get the XS. For you, the XS is the best phone. For me, the XR is the best phone. Nothing to do with cost whatsoever.

That is an extremely bold and subjective statement. While you may find the Xs "superior", others will still prefer an LCD for a variety of reasons, none of which may have anything to do with price.

For example, I prefer LCD because it causes less strain on my eyes.

Topic is about going from the X to the XR. None of the people here that dislike OLED would have bought the X in the first place surely. So unless op has some inherent issue with OLED, its a sidetrack issue now. Other than OLED, its got a few little features removed, but it's bigger? An actual upgrade would be to the max though.

Okay, then why are the Xr phones less expensive? Is Apple just being generous to people who like different colors?
