Yeah - we don't end up buying maxed out phone for test devices. You end up getting the cheapest for the platform because you're not going to be loading it with a bunch of data (unless you're working on an app that needs the space, that is). I'm simply saying that it's not unheard of that base models don't have as many features as the next step up. But, if you found my statements offensive, well I'm sorry it was interpreted that way. It wasn't an attack on anyone, per say.
Not offended at all and I’m sorry if I sounded like an ass. We all get the kit that’s right for us. Honestly it just feels great being in the forums w you knuckleheads again this year. Happy longest f’n week of the year everybody!!

What's the consensus this year: PICK UP IN STORE OR Get it Shipped? I have the option to order through my carrier via online or Apple directly. Which is faster?
If you do pickup you can get it as early as 8am on 9/24. However, you can't track your new iPhone's journey from China to your front door. Thursday night (night before launch day), I got an email letting me know my iPhone will be available at my local Apple Store and to come during my time slot. Last year, they made me return my old iPhone at the store, but it seems this year, you will get the trade-in kit in the mail. That's way better! My UPS delivery person doesn't usually get to my huge apartment building until 6pm, so I'll be waiting all day next Friday. Oh well!

Try and have it held at UPS Customer Center. It’s here it goes before it’s put on a truck and send out. I think it’s a bit extra in terms of price but worth it opposed to waiting around all day.

It's refreshing to see cordial interactions in Macrumors forums (or any online forums) these days!

I decided for gold this year with a green leather case.

I ordered right away this morning, at 8:03am EDT, and have a delivery date if 9/24. Order is still in process. Does anyone still have this status or has it moved.

I ordered my pro max 128 at 8:04 and mine is still in process. I’d say it will be updated around 8 pm or sometime tomorrow morning

I ordered with in-store pick up at 8am on 9/24. From past experience I’ve had phones delivered as earlier as around 10am to as late as around 7-8pm. I just didn’t want to be waiting at home all day if pick up is available.

Carrier could slip the delivery date on you. Apple will deliver when they say they will deliver.

Also consider when deliveries are made in your area. Apple uses UPS exclusively. Your carrier could use FedEx. Who normally delivers faster? UPS may have hold-for-pickup in your area (need to verify that). Lots of considerations.

Personally, I went with in-store pick up this year because I'm traveling next Friday afternoon and I was able to get an 8:15AM pickup time. I didn't want to risk UPS messing up hold-for-pickup then delivering later in the afternoon. Even with hold-for-pickup, my local UPS CC doesn't open until 9AM, so in-store was a win for me. First time doing this, so it will be fun!

Anyone with in store pickup still on "Order Placed" and not "Processing"? I had to cancel a previous ship-to-home order that went to Processing almost immediately. Anyone else seeing the same?

Part of my soul leads me to push that button and see what happens
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! 😳

For those of you that pick up in-store and turn in the old phone, does that mean you don’t do the phone-phone migration? I like that so much more than downloading from the cloud. Then you KNOW everything is copacetic, and it isn’t, you can re-do it.

Count me as a proud member of the Processing Posse, for both my 13 Pro and my iPad mini 6!

Got my knock-off clear case delivered today. The torture of having it sit empty for a full week!

And to the extreme fanboys... I've tried Apple's clear case, and at $40 it is garbage compared to the ~$10 chinese ones. Apple's is more expensive, offers less protection, and gets covered with lint and whatnot.
