I set up a shortcut to play a sound when charging reaches 80% so I can unplug. I’ll occasionally charge to 100% when I need to be out all day. Otherwise, I try to keep it between 20-80% (where lithium ion batteries are stressed the least). It’s the same advice that’s coming from maintaining electric vehicles too.
Unless you're going to keep the phone for 7 years it's probably just added stress and complexity for marginal real gains. But of course you should do whatever you want with your things. I'm more in the 'just use it' camp.

Pre-ordered for store pick up at 8am. There was basically no line. They let in about 5 of us at a time so I got in right away. Started my restore from backup and off course my AW6 needed to be erased and re-paired. Other than that basically seamless.

Sadly, the normal excitement in the store was absent.

Exchanged my recently replaced black leather case and picked up the new one.

iPhone Pro Max 256GB 'graphite' (same color as last year)

Got mine from AT&T since I’m on FirstNet an can’t order through Apple. For some reason FedEx went out of their way to get it to me. Arrived on launch day at 11:36am to the destination sort facility long after they have loaded the delivery trucks and they still got it to me yesterday.
That’s awesome! When my label was created it was in Indiana and I didn’t see any activity on it until Friday afternoon. It’s currently in Louisville Kentucky. So yeah, I’m not getting it until Monday because AT&T refuses to pay for shipping on Saturdays.

Still don’t have service on my phone. Why didn’t Apple just provide a stupid SIM card
I had this problem with Verizon. I went into my Verizon store right down the block and they were surprised it didn’t come with one. The agent had to call into regular Verizon technical support to fix the issue, which I could have done at home.

Nice buddy! I know you were bummed you missed out by such a small amount of time. Happy to hear things are starting to break in your favor now. Sounds like you will be enjoying your new toy pretty soon!!

Thanks yes soon, it was always fun to join opening day and a bit sad I missed that piece of fun but yeah my “precious” will be here soon now. Hoping others in this date range who had similar misses will now see updates moving up from that 10/6 to 10/11 date

Yeah, this is literally in the “just use it” camp with a noise to unplug it. There are tons of posts of people on here with iPhone 12s that are nearing battery end-of-life (<80%) even though the phone has only been out a year. Fast charging and inductive charging are brutal on these batteries.

Interesting did not know my inductive chargers would do that. Looking at my 12 ProMax as my 13 ProMax arrives in couple days I see it is at 89% so I guess there is some degradation? Although do not remember what my 11 ProMax was at when I got my 12. Have been using apples magsafe charger for past year.

I’ve been using inductive charging since the iphone X and never had issues with battery degradation. Even after 1 year, all my phone battery health max capacity still read 100%.

Mine was scheduled for delivery 7pm yesterday. Today, Apple store order status shows "out for delivery” but UPS tracking says “check back tomorrow" so who knows when I will get my phone. It’s not so much the delay that bothers me, it’s the lack of valid tracking info. ?

Mine is in the exact same status. Showed out for delivery all day yesterday than changed to on the way at 8pm. Called UPS and apparently all scans are BS. No updates to tracking since yesterday at 5:05am.

Any tips to keep the battery healthy? ? i was unable to fully charge it yesterday because I had to leave the house. I’m waiting for it to get to 10%. It is currently 14%. I’ve been using the phone since 11am CST View attachment 1846819
Best way is keep it healthy is to keep charged between 40% to 80%. Never go below 40% if you can avoid but once in a while it’s okay.

"Tips to keep healthy," I need this also perhaps. Although I did nothing different with my 12 Pro Max compared to previous phones. My 12 Pro Max "health" dropped to 83%, one day short of 10 months old. (No idea if the battery was a lemon, MagSafe degraded it *I'll try old school wired charging for now*...no idea. All the tips I've seen in another thread didn't seem to matter with others that had/have the same issue today)

But to have a 104% 4487 mAh (through iMazing and Coconut battery shows that also) health now is very nice to say the least. I've shot a ton of photos so far, some video and only lost 3%. I would have lost 15-20% in the same amount of time on the 12 PM.

So far so very good!

Well it will be interesting for the next preorder gang now. The 10/6 - 10/11 gang. Late yesterday (I missed opening day at 5 minutes past preorder opening ) I got a notice my phone was preparing to ship. Went to bed and woke up to information that it shipped and would now arrive Tuesday September 28 (even though apple order on app says Friday October 1 but that was based on earlier start of shipping data which updated on UPS to Tuesday). And on the UPS detailed tracking says to check back tomorrow for updated info because it has left China might be here on Monday the way things are looking but at least a week or sooner from the original start of date range. So there is hope for you of the later 10/6 to 10/11 crowd we are starting to get our phones over a week earlier than the estimated start of date range of 10/6!!!!!

Interesting I lost 11% on my 12 ProMax although not bad but a loss over 1 year nevertheless
