Apple Support is correct, it is not just a claim. If you purchase online for delivery, your are required to send it back. You can't return it to a retail store.

I thought I’d read reports from some people who said they were able to get the store to take it.

Pretty much worked out in the end. We’ve got our new devices, ended up activating, transferring and trading all last night at the store. I cannot say it was a smooth process, but it’s done.

I keep accidentally pressing the new (for us) button. Action button I think they call it? Camera control button. At least I didn’t assign anything to it.

You can set the CameraControl to activate on a double-click to avoid pressing accidentally.

Delivery dates may change due to supply chain, Storage & demand.
Been waiting for my 17 Pro & Max Silver 1TB for more than a month now even though order was placed as soon as pre-Order opened. was promised delivery launch day till it change to October 10-17 and I'm still awaiting

I’ve just noticed a very slight change in my arrival date of the iPhone, which it is October 14-21st. Even though it’s still in the processing stage, there’s a notice above this that I can no longer cancel the item, which I had before. I believe this means this is beginning the process of preparing to ship. A good sign I believe. 😉

Yeah, as taynasoldera first discovered, availability is getting a little bit better. In many places, 256GB and 512GB Pro Maxes are mostly available, although scattered across several stores. I've found Orange 512GB Pro Maxes in Southern California, Northern California, and NYC.
I ended up cancelling my online order and, with the help of that link posted here (refreshing the page a few times an hour), I found a CO 512 GB close to me and picked it up Friday evening. Now, my old 14 PM is retired and I am happy to discover so many new features of my new 17 PM.

When you place your preorder as soon as it opened and had your original delivery date on launch day ! Pushing it to mid - late October is too long ! When most people got their orders shipped and/delivered already!
the post i replied to said nothing about having an original launch day delivery.

If you've been following G-Funk's saga, they placed an order minutes after pre-orders opened and initially got a release-day delivery schedule. However, they (and others!) have been screwed by Apple moving the delivery date from the 19th to Oct 10-17. At the time, that was the date people got if they placed an order that day -- basically, Apple kicked them to the end of the line.

Hopefully, G-Funk's order won't be further delayed, but I've heard of some people getting delayed by another week. Apple's really screwed the pooch this time.

For those that are interested……..

Delivery date between the 14th and 21st of October

Notified that process completed and preparing for shipment on the 13th approximately 7:10 PM

Approximately at 7:45 PM Florida time notified it was shipped from Tennessee and will arrive on the 14th (UPS)

Ultimately the 17, and I’ve had the Air and Pro as well. I’m a “function over form” and practicality guy. So as much as I appreciated the feel of the Air and the “workhorse” nature of the Pro, I just couldn’t get over the fact that the 17 is more bang for the buck than both for me - where the Air’s primary tangible advantage is its feel (and only a slight advantage at that IMO), and the Pro’s primary tangible advantages are the telephoto and slightly better battery (telephoto is nice, but I don’t need it enough to justify a 35% price increase from the 17).

I’ve always had the Pro and Pro Max size since the 6S, so upgrading to the 17PM was a no brainer. Almost a month in and I’m happy with my decision. The battery life from my 15PM has been great not having to worry about charging twice a day, having the bigger screen size, and cooler phone with usage. I also do not use a case but use MagSafe phone backs and have no scratches on the sides nor top and bottom of my phone. Even with Apples decision to move to aluminum, it didn’t make me second guess upgrading.

I went with the 17 Pro Max coming from the 15 Pro. I had had a larger iPhone in the past and missed the longer battery life. Didn’t necessarily need to upgrade but orange is my favorite color…

I eventually stuck with the Air after getting into a mess and also getting the 17 Pro as I talked myself out of keeping my launch day Air.

The 17 Pro got returned and I went back to the space black Air. The form factor, it’s looks and feel in hand are on another level, that matters to me more than the supposed compromises. I don’t even feel it has any compromises and I simply love this device and it’s an absolute pleasure to use.
