Good News, I update my Mac to 10.12.x
Bamb! There is it
USB3.1 Controller http://www.datoptic.com/ec/usb31-host-for-mac-windows-and-linux-pcie-powered.html
I'm ordering the USB3.1 RAID to see what speed I can get out of it

It says, "Our USB3.1 does not support 10.11.x - 100% work ni 10.10.x and earlier"... If I'm deciphering it correctly, USB 3.1 only works with 10.10.x and earlier...

But when I click on support, they only mention USB3.0...

Yes, 10.11.x is a horrible OS to upgrade to. It's a major screwed up on USB.

I confirmed, these USB3.1 cards work with 10.10.x and 10.12.x, but not 10.11.x

- How weird is that, but I'm glad my 3.1 is now fully function under 10.12.x

Nice. What USB 3.1 drive are you using? Thanks.
I figure the regular 7200 rpm or a single SSD wont saturate the USB 3.0. So I get this
http://www.datoptic.com/ec/usb-3-1-to-dual-msata-ssd-supports-raid-0-1-or-jbod.html and 2x mSATA 250GB create a RAID0 out of it
Yes it moves the data fast. Same card I plug in a Seagate USB pen while run the test i able to read and write to USB pen, as you can see in DU there is USB3.0 Seagate Backup + is connected too... So this card works perfect

I will transfer data from my Backup+ to my mSATA RAID0 and let see how the USB 3.1 hold up

Update: it kinda works it kinda doesn't for me :0 it'll work with my USB 3 drive by itself, but if I hook up a USB 3.0 hub, the card gets stuck in USB 2.0 mode. Unplugging the hub and reinserting the thumb drive doesn't work. Only way get it working again is to reboot the machine.

With my set up, there is no issue with transfer from my Seagate Backup+ to my RAID0 USB 3.1
I was able to transfer roughly about 93GB, so there is no problem of mix devices USB3.0 and USB 3.1

Is anyone successfully using the CalDigit FASTA=6gU3 Plus in a 4,1 -> 5,1 Mac Pro with 10.9.5 for USB-C devices? I don't care about data speed as much as it just works reliably.

If so, I'll replace my old FASTA-6GU3 card with it.

1. eSATA 6Gbps is supported from OSX 10.7 or above. Windows 7 or above.
2. USB 3.1 5Gbps is supported from OS X 10.9 or above. Windows 7 or above.
3. USB 3.1 10Gbps is supported from OS X 10.12 or above. Windows 7 or above.

Interested in the CalDigit card too, so I can add 3.1 speeds, USBC and get sleep back (darned Newertech card!)...

Anyone know if it needs to be powered or if the PCIe slot is enough, I can't tell from the website.

I wonder how much I can get for the Newertech card in Europe? Any offers?!

I just got the CalDigit FASTA-6GU3 Plus, and it works without power, though there is a SATA power connector on the far end of the card, and I don't know if it's power in or power out. I hope it's power out, so I can power an extra SSD from it.

Anyone know about this connector? I emailed CalDigit support, and got no response now after a couple days.
[doublepost=1479503905][/doublepost]Finally got CalDigit tech support on the phone. They had some interesting info about the power.

The SATA power connector on the card is power in, but it's optional.
The card draws 24V from the PCIe slot.
Connecting power to the SATA power connector adds about 5W, and will then deliver a max of 15W out the USB-C port, and 10W out the USB-A port.
Without the SATA power connection used, it will put out about 20W max through the two USB ports, but can't give a specific number because it depends on what else is connected.

Based on their website citing 5V/3A max, this appears to mean that:
- Without power added from SATA connector, it will output 5V/2A from either USB port.
- With power added, you get the 5V/3A shown on the website in the USB-C slot, but the USB-A port will still only put out 5V/2A.

HI,

Have you tried whether it supports OS X booting?

Thanks

Most importantly, does usb c even work in your cMP? :)
