Turns out... I must have a faulty PCIe slot... I moved the card down in the next slot and it started working (powered from an HDD connector, I temporarily removed one).

Back to the wiring exercise to power it from the ODD power feed. I have a MP2009 which has no molex but combined data/power SATA cables, which is a further complication.

I can't think of anything you can do about the drivers. However, 10.9.2 was just released as beta, so hopefully there will be an update in that.

Personally I've been avoiding Mavericks because of all the reported problems with USB, sleep, and Nvidia drivers. I am not one to jump into a new OS immediately anyway; I usually wait at least 6 months.

It's still broken as ever in the latest beta. I reported it to Apple, they put the blame on the hardware vendors. Which makes no sense except for their arrogance. Nothing changed in the hardware...

KTU3FR-4PA rev B2

Note: There are older revs of this model, and also model numbers that look very similar with just 1 number or letter difference. Even Inateck's own website shows the wrong model. So be careful when ordering. If you go here to Amazon and then click "4 Ports for Mac Pro", that is the right card. After clicking "4 Ports for Mac Pro", the picture should change to show a card with no power connectors and no cables. After adding to your cart, verify it says something like "New release 4 ports model modified for Mac Pro".

Thank you, ActionableMango, for your complete info. But… Unfortunately, in the relatively few short days since your post, apparently, Amazon has changed their listings - here in the US, anyway. There is no "modified for Mac Pro" model available, and close-ups of the card on Amazon reveals the older card equipped with cables. The Inateck website shows the revision B2 card listed under their "For Mac Pro" area. A search on Amazon for the -4PA model shows nothing. The card they are selling is the -4P version - either the older one, or the PC version. Got any more ideas?

^^^^Oh My:eek: It's GONE:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Other markets still seem to have the card offered by Amazon. Example:

Last Thurs of last week, in Amazon USA, the Inatek USB 3 for Mac Pro had its status "Only 1 left in stock". Probably got sold out over the weekend. Sales must be good and people are still upgrading their classic Mac Pros.

1. Yes, other European markets are still selling the "right" card 2. As a die-hard Amazon junkie, I have found it rare that Amazon sells out of something without posting that more are expected (if they actually are). As was pointed out in the original post, there seems to be a bit of confusion - even by the manufacturer themselves - as to the model #. This time, Amazon has all of Inateck's USB 3.0 cards listed from the same page - so maybe they are also confused/uninformed. If the person who has one of these cards from Amazon (US) can check their invoice, and post the model # the correct card was sold under, then those of us interested in checking can at least search for the right listing should Amazon restock. I've had the Sonnet 2-port USB 3.0 card for years, and it is the first time I've been severely disappointed in a Sonnet product.

I managed to power the card from the ODD cage, routing the cable between the side panel and the case frame - I had to apply a little pressure to close it.

I need to get one of those extension to properly route the power feed through the back.

It's not gone, it's out of stock in the USA. Inateck informed me that when it went out of USA stock, they decided to take advantage of the SNAFU to fix model number issues that have been previously discussed. It will re-appear on Amazon USA in a couple of weeks.

The current correct model number was posted in my review (Post #608). However I believe they are in the process of changing that to KT-4004. Once they are back in stock with the new model number, I'll update my review and ask ActionableMango to update post no. 1.

They are out of stock at Amazon's USA site, and will return in a couple of weeks.

FYI - That seller, SpringRainUK, will ship to the USA if you order directly from them. (Last I checked, they will not ship to USA for Amazon sales.) They will want about 18 Euros for shipping though.

Sorry, I'm not aware of any alternatives in the USA.

You can either wait for stock to come back, find an alternative seller in the USA, order from the UK, or get the model that requires power and do a cable run to your optical bay.

The Amazon USA seller, when the card was in stock, was SPR_USA. I suggest you contact them and ask them to get more in stock to sell. Here is their Amazon page:

There is a link near the bottom right for "contact seller".

Here is the dialog between SPR (Inateck's US distributor through Amazon) and me. I post it only because of their offer to inform me via email when the product is again in stock. For those seriously interested, I'm sure they would do the same for you. They can be messaged though Amazon from any product listing they offer.

--- Original message ---

Recently, your listing of Inateck Model #: KTU3FR-4PA Rev. B2 (PCIe USB 3.0 for MacPro - no power cables required) has disappeared from Amazon. Will it be restocked? If so, can you hazard a guess as to when?

Thanks for your response. No hassle (with your business)! The only hassle was/is with Inateck's choice of model numbers and lack of specificity. It is, clearly, not your fault! (Perhaps they were unaware of the unbridled zeal of the Mac-User, in general!?!)

I would be most grateful for an email when the product is back in stock. Again, thanks for your reply…

My Inateck card arrived yesterday and I can confirm that it works really well.
I did not fully load all four ports with "port powered" 2.5 inch drives but I did
have 2 of them powered and 2 x thumb drives at the same time = no problem.

It was happy with an old USB2.0 hub and a Logitech MX1000 mouse also.

Hope fully you can find a source other than Amazon to order them soon,

I picked up the Inateck card to replace the ORICO I had that was causing Disk Utility to go unresponsive. Now I'm finding that initially the Inateck solved the problem but now it is doing it with the Inateck. Have you had any issues with having to force close disk utility?

Not so far, today I formatted 2 x 3TB seagate drives from that card in an
Icy Box USB3.0 Raid enclosure.
Worked a treat, will keep an eye on that though.

Arrrgh! The blokes at Apple still haven;t fixed USB eject on 10.9.2.. I guess I have 2 options... Find a different chipset or Write an app to do the auto eject on all devices with the Fresco Logic vendor ID..

How lazy can they get? It's not like they are short of cash to fix the situation....
