I don't understand the fine print - does Verizon have an upgrade/trade-in special for the iPhone 14 Pro?

I'd normally buy it through Apple directly, but if I can get a good discount (or a better-than-market-value trade in) I'd want to take advantage of that.

If I preorder through a Verizon store do I pay for it when the phone comes in or pay at preorder? How does that work ?

No upgrades at my house this year. We have two 13s and two 12s. Another (non-household) family member is also on our plan on an XR but she won’t want to upgrade until that one isn’t supported.

36 months is too long!!! I just finished paying off my 12 Pro Max on a 24 month plan and seems like it took forever! If the only way to get a deal is 36 months, then Verizon can count me out. I dont want to be locked into Verizon for 36 months. Geesh its like a someone forcing me to date them for 3 years.

Yea 3 year is too long imo for some. But does Verizon not give you the option to pay off the remaining at any time?

When paying off device early they add back any discounts retroactively. In other words the pay off amount is the full cost of the device minus what you've paid. They probably add some kind of fee too. My understanding is that Verizon does not make much money on the sale of a phone. Their profits come from monthly bills. So, the longer they keep you the better their profits are. Locking you in for 36 months is where bread and butter is. Anyway to discourage you from leaving, including fees, they will try.

My wife is on a 30 month (iPhone 13 Pro) plan. She's okay with nearly 3 years but I upgrade every year so I won't be using Verizon's lock-in because you're forfeiting $528 of the $800 if you upgrade after 12 months since they dish out the payments over the full 36 months term for the new plan.

I do need to figure out how to sell an iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB. I have $880 as the highest offer on a random trade-in service. Apple wants to give me $720 for it after paying $1500 just 12 months ago. AppleCare good through 9/24 so I'm probably going to list it on Swappa for $1050 which is $100 under what other 1TB phones are selling for.

Will just buy a new phone full price from BestBuy on Friday since I get AppleCare for free through their TotalTech service.

We need a thread to help us figure out to sell our current phones. I have a 12 Pro Max that I will need to sell and use proceeds for 14 Pro Max. That is the only way I can buy 14. Verizon 36 month plan stinks to me.

That’s one of the reasons why I’m paying outright at Apple. I refuse to be locked in more than 12 months. Now I’ll pay monthly for my watch since I know I will hold onto it for 4 years.

Yes they do, but if they are giving you credits, you’ll lose those credits if you pay it off too early. That’s how they catch you.

In the past, I’ve used Swappa and liked it. Their seller fees are less than eBay.

I'm going iPhone 14 Pro Max Deep Purple 256 this year and I'm ordering through Apple on Verizon financing. I also pre-ordered a Series 8 cellular in Midnight.

36 months sucks, but you if you trade in your new iPhone 14 after 2 years you will still do better than buying the phone for full price. My wife has a standard iPhone 12 that we did a 24 month payment with Verizon that basically got us the phone for free. Verizon will pay me $800 over 3 years if we trade that phone in for a new iPhone 14. $800 x 36 months is $22.22 per month, so if we decide to trade it in 2 years from now I forfeit $266 in trade in credits, meaning they gave me $533 for a $800 2 year old phone.

If I buy the iphone 14 from Apple now they will give me $320 for the iphone 12 trade. $533 is pretty damn good, and if she’s not into the iPhone 16 then she can hold out and get full trade in credit for the iPhone 17 when it is shipping (after the full 36 month term). Basically if you want to upgrade every year just trade it in to Apple. But for people like me that have no plans of leaving Verizon due to coverage/service than not trading in an old phone is leaving money on the table.

When does the store on the website usually update with the phones? Ordering through there as I usually do, but I always get paranoid around pre-order time.

Does anyone know if photo and video file sizes will be bigger with the 14 pro? Aside from ProRes, I know the finished photos will still be 12megapixels, but with more detail, I wonder if the file size will be marginally or substantially larger?

Anyone seen an updates on the Verizon trade in offer? What phone(s) are eligible? I’ve seen an $800 trade in offer, but is it an “up to”? Meaning will it only be a 512 GB 13 pro max that qualifies for the full $800? I wish they would release specifics before preorders launch…

Does the “Get Ready” for pre-order functionality in the Apple Store app work for anyone upgrading through Verizon?

I’m upgrade eligible, but the “Continue” button stays disabled and there’s no indication why. Didn’t work last year either.

In your scenario in the first paragraph, do you pay Verizon $266 to break the 36 month commitment?

I’m ready to go for tomorrow morning! Planning on ordering the 14 Pro Max 1TB in Deep Purple through VZW directly.

Also ordered an Apple Watch Ultra with the Midnight Ocean Band.

Does anyone know if preordering through the store if you pay tomorrow or when the phone arrives? My store said they're coming in at 7 am to call people and order through website, but I haven't ever ordered this way before and don't want to get screwed or any hiccups to cause me to get backordered.
