I will probably buy the AT&T 32GB. Mainly because I have 3 iPhones on my family plan and am hoping AT&T comes out with shared data so I can connect my iPad to my plan without paying a separate monthly fee. Plus, the resale value will probably be a little better.

I thought the 3 works on ATT and VZW. Since its not subsidized, you should be able to choose your carrier independantly. I haven't read anywhere that its locked.

that's what i was planning on doing to but not sure if verizon is faster in the bay area then att?

I think data pricing will eventually go the same way voice and texting did. Shared between all on the account. So I would just use the same carrier as your cell phone is on, or will plan on being. Obviously there is no way to know when.

I've had both the iPad 1 & 2, but I've decided to make this one my first 4G (well, duh...) iPad.

Which iPad 4G should I buy considering I want to be able to use a 4G or 3G SIM from a different carrier in another country when I'm in Sweden this summer. Does it matter? I would like to have Verizon here in the US, but do that iPad model work with GSM carriers in Europe (have no idea if 4G uses GSM, I'm lost when it comes to that type of technology)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm hoping to pre-order a 64 gig + 4G as soon as possible.

Anyone know about AT&T or Verizon restricting the use as a personal hotspot?

Where is it confirmed or clear that aT&T and VZ have different models?

I saw this on Apple Insider, CNet, and somewhere else (forget where).

Confirmed at apple.com

http://www.apple.com/ipad/4g/

AT&T or Verizon.
If you decide on an iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G, be sure to select the model that corresponds with the carrier you’d like to use for 4G LTE service. The iPad model you purchase is specially configured to work with either AT&T or Verizon — not both. So while you don’t have to activate service right away, you should choose your iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G according to the carrier you prefer.

Now I just want to know what the data plan options will be, doesn't seem like apple is posting them.

Does Verizon LTE fall back to CDMA or EVDO 1x or Rev A.?? Cause I would assume AT&T 4G falls back to HSDPA 3g.

I called AT&T and asked if I can move over my iPad account over to the new iPad. She said yes. I then said that I have the original iPad 1 w/unlimited plan and she also said yes.

Then again, all this is so new that can I trust what she said? Remember, new throttled means 5gb on 4G so does that mean will I effectively get 5GB unthrottled on my new iPad 4G for $30/mo?

is there anybody in the bay area that has 4g lte from vz or att and know which is faster?

Exactly. People may be I'm for a shock to go from LTE to CDMA speeds.

Vs AT&T LtE (blazing fast in Orlando) which default to HSPA plus (still very fast up to 21mbs).

----------

Is LTE simultaneous voice and data on Verizon?

No. Verizon only does CDMA voice and LTE data. Verizon hopes to do LTE voice and data by end of 2013.

How's that? They are both offering 2G for $30.

----------

So no 1GB from VZW? That's obnoxious.

Exactly. At least AT&T has a $15 plan for the non-heavy users.

One question, if you choose the $15 plan and go over 250MB does it charge you overages right away or does it warn you beforehand? Or does it automatically just give you another 250MB for another $15?

I guess the big question is, do I still have to pay AT&T to use the iPad 3 internationally, or can I stick in a SIM from another carrier and use their data plan?

According the Apple website, you can use your own local SIM in that country.

Great, Thanks! I go backpacking a lot (mostly Asia) and last time I just took an iPod Touch for language resources (Pleco!). Worked fine at hot spots, but having maps and access to online translator services would be great and I can't justify the cost of an unlocked iPhone.
