Carrier Verizon raising grandfathered unlimited data plans by $20

For those of us on ATT, I no longer see this as a hugely horrible thing if they jack the price by $20; hope they don't but still. I've compared their current prices and see with my current data usage, I'll have to pay an additional 50 to 90 bucks for 15 and 20 Gigs respectively. We're allowed 22GB. I suspect it may be the same with a number of the VZ legacy holders also.

Bad idea to try to get 6S plus in store. They will activate it and won't let u leave the store.
2-3 week delay for 6S plus at apple dot com. So u figure the carriers are min 2-3 weeks delay and Best Buy same or worst.
Ur current data usage is ur current data usage.
It's not the same for everyone else.
I have both att and Verizon unlimited data.
My wife uses around 12gb data herself and I average around 4-6gb. Yes. We have wifi at home and at work. So our average was need to be around 16-18gb a month for 2 phone lines with att next
I pay $133 a month (taxes included with my old grandfathers 700 minute plan (now unlimited minutes and texts). That's with the built in subsidy (roughly $18-20 a month per phone per line).
Att next costs me $100 plus $15 per line. So $130 a month for 15GB data with no subsidy.
So att next would cost me $40 EXTRA A MONTH with their 15gb data plan mobile share (10gb pricing at $100 but they give u 50% bonus now 15Gb).
Now tell me how mobile sharing is cheaper for me?
It's not cheaper for anyone that's exactly why the companies do it to rip people off everyone deserves truly unlimited LTE data on every device from laptops iPads cell phones you name it
I was on Verizon unlimited and am switching to Sprint. Before you point and laugh at me for going to Sprint, they rolled out their Spark thing in my area and people are getting download speeds of 50 MBPS around here. I don't travel so the Sprint network is good enough.
I took advantage of the cut your price in half thing. My Verizon plan was 450 minutes for $40, $20 for unlimited text, and $30 for unlimited data. I text a lot so I need texting. I removed texting from my plan and halted texting. I then employed my employee discount and submitted the bill to Sprint and got unlimited talk, text, and data for $29.50. Once Verizon tacks on the $20, my bill would be $110. I'm saving $80 a month. I have to give my phone to Sprint which is an LG G2 so it doesn't have high re-sale value. I had to buy an iPhone 6s + at full price which was $850. A subsidized phone is $400 so I'm paying an additional $450. After 6 months, I will be coming out ahead $80 each month. If Sprint truly is awful, I'll just unlock the phone and go with something like Cricket. After 10 years with Big Red, it was time to move on. They go their wish.

If I'm interpreting correctly, you're paying two separate bills for both ATT and VZ, both are legacy unlimited data. If you go to mobile share, you're IMO going to be royally screwing yourself. It's inevitable that your and your wife's data usage will more-than-likely increase over time.
As I've shown in the ATT comparison chart, if you go to their current plans, you're paying way more than if you were to stay where you are. So the $20 hike, in the grand scheme, isn't as big an issue if you were to compare it to the price hike from their current plans.
They can't follow through until they eliminate 2 year contracts first. If they just raise data plan costs, they'll give everyone who just ordered a 6S an "out" on their contract, which means they'd have given millions of dollars in subsidies to customers who could then immediately turn around and sign on with another provider.
Right. But they could do this to people without contracts now. I don't have a contract with them as I buy my devices in full. Just really hoping I don't have to pay more for what I already have.
They could so exactly what Verizon is doing: Hiking the fee for people just finishing up their contracts (or no longer on them), while keeping the old price for people still locked in on a contract and hiking those when their terms expire. Additionally, if someone does an early upgrade, they could potentially push the new terms into the new contract... since you're signing something new, it becomes a new agreement with new pricing.
Yes. I am Verizon and att. But my Verizon I am part of my brother plan so pay him $40/month for unlimited data and use it exclusively in my iPad with free tethering.
My main account is my att account. And that's the account I have 2 unlimited iPhone data plans.
For us. Att next wouldn't make sense. Because even going with the standard $100/10gb plan (15gb promo this month) plus $15/line.

Vs my $133 I am paying with 2 lines with unlimited data with 2 subsidiied.
So we will hang on to our grandfathered att plan as long as we can.
Heck even if they get rid of the subsidy. I still wouldn't give it up because we would still get 22gb of full speed internet before network optimization per line and no data overcharges.
I guess since my contract renewed October 9th 2015. Before the insert about the price changes I am good to go!
They can try to raise my rates and I can cancel the line and the my subsidized $299 iPhone 6S 64gb with me.

I'm on Verizon and thinking of going with TMobile. Anyone have experience with their de prioritization scheme/throttling? Not sure if it would be worth it to me as I usually use 30 gb a month right now. Some people say they get throttled and others claim high amounts of data without being de prioritized.
FWIW, T-Mobile's explanation of de-prioritzation is that it's based on "times and in places of network contention", so IMO that's probably a big part of the variance in what you've been reading from people.
i.e. someone using 90 gigs a month on towers that never get busy may never see de-prioritization, whereas someone going on 22 gigs in an area with busy towers may.
AT&T lets you keep you UDP and use subsidies.
Why are you buying in full if you can save $450 with a subsidized iphone?
This isn't quite the case right now. I just ordered 64GB 6SPlus on Friday from a retail store and got my shipping notice on Sat that it will be here on Wed of this week. The shortages must be no more.
I ordered mine through Sprint and they don't expect it to ship until the 19th.
Mine was thru ATT. They said in store - not until 10/19-10/26.. But BAMM!
They also said Gold and Rose Gold wouldn't ship until first week of Nov. I was shocked when I got my email on Sat that my 64GB Space Gray 6S+ had shipped.
My family plan and many others with subsidies and udp is way cheaper than any mobile share or any other plans available.
Getting the subsidy every 2 years and staying on old nonshare plan is cheaper and we have no next monthly payments.
To be exact the same 4 line plan with mobile share and 4 next payment plans over 2 years would cost us over $4000 more.
Nope. Because the monthly price for a single line is the same no matter what unless you're paying extra per month for the installment plan.
You pay more when you sign a contract over the two years of the contract. They won't just give you a free phone...
