Godspeed! 🤣Oh this is perfect thank you.... my wife scoffed at the price of AVP when I showed it to her this weekend... it just dawned on me that she has like 10 AVP's sitting in her closet. Definitely going to point that out when I get home tonight.
The iPhone: price of an expensive gadgetPeople scoffed at the original iPhone’s price, carrier cost, utility and battery life and it was released with a recession looming. You’ll be surprised what people do for things they want.

This video is the best I've seen. First half is hilarious; second half where he describes his "profound moment," as you say, is spot on. Crazy to see the future of computing. Phones, watches, TVs, and (unfortunately, but possibly) movie theaters will all go away. I can see the appeal of going to sporting events and theaters, but why, when you can pay for a ticket and have the best (or multiple) seat(s) in the house? It's exciting and a bit depressing. The Casey Neistat video is a bit cringe at times, but I do find his 'profound moment' at the end of his video quite interesting. Where, after a while, everything 'clicks' and you almost forget that you're looking through a screen. It reminded me of the first time I wore my bi-focal glasses, lol. Initially, I was so aware of them and the way they made things distort at the edges. But, after a few days, I guess my brain compensated for all that and it all became normal!
This is completely different, you bought an iPod to listen to music. that was revolutionary coming from Cd players or mini discs. This is like the 3D fad of movies. You don’t need a vision pro to watch content or listen to music, this is adaptive entertainment and it’s niched at the moment. Back then everyone had a cd player and wanted to listen to music without the cd skipping every seconds.
Comparison to the first Mac is appropriate as a cost comparison. In 2024 dollars VisionPro is half the 2024 cost of the 1984 Mac.I’m not sure this is the best comparison. iPhones cost way more now, iPods went above their launch price in a few iterations and i’ve never spent less than 2500 on a Mac. i guess i see your point in that these product prices shocked people at launch… but i feel instead of paying less it just became the new norm lol. I really hope that isn’t the case with the vision though. As much as i love mine I can’t afford a new $3500 device every few years lol
Doesn’t it have IR for hand tracking as well? Should work in the darkWhen the average middle class American is struggling to pay their bills I think this product segment might take along time to flesh out.
It’s not going to be like the iPhone or iPad. Those devices were easily accessible by the masses. But this one…. Nope.
You can’t use this headset when it’s night time. Tracking completely stops working. It has a two hour battery life and we’re starting to see morons driving with this on, walking around cities with this on.
It’s only a matter of days before this item is clean ripped off someone’s head and stollen.
It’s a cool product don’t get me wrong. But man is this not going to go the way Apple had planned. If anything it’s going to spark interest in the segment more and drive people to AFFORDABLE competing products.
Suite yourself, but that glass is pretty solid and the cushion will probably soften the impact while you break your knuckles.Every single person in those YT thumbnails has a punchable face
I definitely forget I’m wearing Airpods at timesHow do you forget when you have that giant thing on your face? I am aware and don't forget when I wear 😎 or 🎧 or 🧢.
When the first gen iPhone came out it was a $600, that’s almost $900 today, when phones were either free or $100 for a high end phone subsidized(some very high end phones for more) and it did’t have GPS, or even a 1MP camera, couldn’t send images in messages, and didn’t have an App store. When the average middle class American is struggling to pay their bills I think this product segment might take along time to flesh out.

The functionality of an iPhone 15 and a $100 Android is essentially the same though. Both can make calls, browse the internet, take photos and such. The Vision Pro is neither a laptop or a TV, it's a VR headset with AR capabilities. It depends on how you look at it. Hehe pun intended.
It’s cheaper than a MBP and a 4k LG TV. If you rarely watch tv socially with anyone else or travel a lot, the cost per use over time could be low.
You can make the same comparison of an iPhone 15 pro max and a $100 Android phone.![]()
I dunno - saying that other VR headsets are competing alternatives feels like comparing the OG blackberry to the iPhone, or the pebble watch to an Apple Watch. Sure, they all look similar, but it's clear in hindsight that one was the future, while the other was a dead end product. When the average middle class American is struggling to pay their bills I think this product segment might take along time to flesh out.

A lot of butthurt people here. Comparing a Kia to a Mercedes IS possible. The Meta quest 3 does 95% of what the Vision Pro does. So it’s a solid competitor and open for comparison.I dunno - saying that other VR headsets are competing alternatives feels like comparing the OG blackberry to the iPhone, or the pebble watch to an Apple Watch. Apple is banking on their monthly payments, no way the average person will pay for this upfront, however if you noticed, they will always make it sound sweeter than it is by saying *281$ a month. It sounds extremely tempting to get it at *that* price, but you know, it is what it is.Careful - people said the same thing about many Apple products, including the iPhone. When the iPhone came out it was much more expensive than other “smart” phones of the time. Many people expected it would fail.
I’m not saying it’s a sure winner, just saying there is a chance it will surprise you.
