Shame that this won't roll out on the 6. Doesn't bother me personally as I'll be upgrading but I doubt very much that it's a hardware limitation of the 6 preventing it being rolled out on that

I've not seen anywhere that it won't be on the 6. It just hasn't been during the beta. Apple, in the notes released with each beta notes that it's in beta and only on the phones newer than the 6. Why call that out if the feature is going to be permanently off limits?

I haven't seen a screenshot of what it looks like when the feature is actually working. Would anyone mind posting one?

I don't have the link (sorry), but it was in the dev release notes of one of the earlier betas.

The extract below is taken from the release notes for the GM (and it has been identical throughout the beta process). It indicates that the transcription service is currently only available for the phones newer than the 6/6+, but nowhere has anyone been able to point out that this was a permanent restriction. Apple usually indicates that in a footnote on their webpage describing iOS, so they don't get sued later by someone who says a feature should have been available for their phone, but wasn't.
