iPhone 6s on AT&T. Reset voicemail password and reset network settings. Voicemail transcription still not working, even with new voicemails. iOS 10 Beta 2.

So let's see if I'm summarizing this correctly.

So far (and this is key, so far) only seen on 6s and 6s+, only in the US, multiple networks (ATT and Verizon for sure) but by no means working for everyone who fits that criteria.

It would seem that way yes. I hope it gets enabled for more in later betas. Especially more countries (*cough* Canada.) Getting tired of all these new features getting released in the US only.

I'm normally on the wrong side of the country fence too, being a Brit, but as I'm currently living in the US I thought I might get lucky here. Alas, so far the SE seems to be going unloved :)

I'm on Verizon with 6S and I've made no changes. VM I received today showed "transcription beta". The transcription was right on the mark. To view it I had to tap the phone number that left the VM and it drops down below the number. Older VM's do not show the transcription.

For a VM I receive today the transcription was right on the money. This was the first VM that has transcription.

Ha, just started working for me, a few minutes ago. I didn't do anything else either.

I am definitely not unsympathetic to Apple's dilemma here. I'd rather they be consistent, though, and mark features as available only on certain model lines and newer though, rather than forcing us to find out after the tease at the keynote. Of course, this assumes that this feature is as you describe it. And it may just be that they're rolling it out a bit at a time each beta and we'll all eventually get it.

Of course. There are a lot of unknowns right now how this works exactly or what is needed hardware-wise. Same as raise to wake (although that is certainly hardware-linked versus something like transcription)

Im just so sick of hearing b*tch and complain about Apple and oh they are screwing us or planned obsolescence. They do a better job than any other phone manufacturer supporting their devices.

Go buy an Android phone from only last year (2015), let alone 3 years old, and see if you ever get the newest OS version with the new features. Most never see an OS update to the newest version.

It's just such a tired argument now.

I certainly hope this little rant was not aimed at me. I have never suggested that Apple screwed us or plans obsolescence in their devices. Ever. I have been on Android and it is exactly the obsolescence factor that sent me over to Apple for my phone (a company phone that is always going to be 12-24 months behind the current flagship and still has 95% of the features of the current flagship). I know what being on an obsolescent phone (Android) is like.

My sole complaint (and ONLY if the voicemail transcription ends up not being rolled out to anything below the 6s/6s+) is that Apple normally is explicit about features that are device dependent. They did not qualify the transcription feature so I will be disappointed if it does not cascade down the line.

Installed the Public Beta the day it came out, just noticed transcription became available today on my 6s Plus AT&T. Although, it doesn't seem very accurate yet (lots of blanks and incorrect words).

One last thought here (beating a potentially dead horse, I know!): Currently the iPhone going back at least to the iPhone 5 is capable (with server assistance, I think) of transcribing your own voice for Siri or keyboard input. Not sure how transcribing someone else's voice (in a voicemail) puts any more demand on the phone or raises any privacy concerns that transcribing yourself does. But I suppose you could argue that you control what you say to the phone, but you don't control what someone else says. If the transcriptions occur on phone, then no issue. But if only the 6+ and up can do that on phone and the other devices require server assistance due to processing power issues, then I can see the limitation.

The opposite also holds true though? Why does the 6s need a 3g/4g/wi-fi connection to use Siri for all tasks (read my messages) when the phone side is capable of understanding speech ?

Because Siri isn't on the phone. She is off on a server. You speak, it gets sent off to the server, she figures out what you said and want, it's gets sent back to your phone, then it performs that function.

Ok another update. It's now working on my O2 6s.

Just had 2 voicemails come in and the transcription worked (not word perfect though)

It does say "transcription beta (low confidence)". above the text. :)

iOS 10 Developer Beta 3, iPhone 6s, AT&T. Voicemail transcription still not working.

EDIT: Correction, left myself a voicemail and it's now working. Old voicemails aren't transcribed, but it did the new one.
